Has anybody had any succes yet? I am interested in a VPS in Thailand as well, but only seem to be able to find US based or really expensive ones. So far I have bene using my own server for testing and servers abroad. But a local VPS in Bangkok for a reasonable price would be great

  2. I am moving to a new and larger house as the family is extending and me and my wife would like to rent out our townhouse (renovated three years ago). It is located in Moo Ban Busarin, Bang Buathong, Nonthaburi, 45 minutes from BKK Center. It is a corner house with a garden and space to park one car (carport) The house has 2 floors, 2 bedrooms +bathroom and office upstairs, a living+dining room and kitchen (house extension) downstairs. The living room, two bedrooms and office room all have AC. NB: There is no furniture in the house. The living room does have a parquet floor and built-in closet and the top floor has a very large wooden wardrobe. The top floors are made from teak wood.

We ask for 8.000 Baht per month and a two month deposit. If you are interested please let me know by reacting here at the forum or by sending me a personal message.

    Cheers,

    Noo Dang and Jasper

  3. Thank you very much everyone for your kind advise.

It's quite clear that my husband and I need to find way to get 40,000 baht salary and get the tax reciept to show that we are good citizen who pay tax and no cheating! As some of you (hansnl #16 and CWMcMurray #17) mentioned about changing the visa type from B to O before he quit the job will be the best solution to my case for now. I'll tell him that and we will definitely do that. I think it's a good idea to keep his teaching job while he starts his it business a side (maybe secretly)

Thank digitalchromakey #2 for your advise about having monthly income fomr letting a house or a land, I think it's a good idea indeed. I havent thought about that but this I might have to ask my family for it.

dingdongrb #19 Thx for sharing your Immigration experience with us. It's useful.

I can summerize from all of your advise that we need to have household income around 40,000 baht per month. The bank accounts both in Thailand and abroad might not be useful. We might try the border run, but this can still be possible since I heard that the Immigration Office try to make it more difficult and stop people from do the border run.

I have to admit that this visa thingy makes me upset and sad at the same time. It spoils our plan to have the website business done in Hong Kong for a while. <-- not sure we can find proof of earning on the first year. You might ask why we choose to get the business establish in Hong Kong (he wants to quit his teaching job to do it) because Thai regulations doesnt open and liberal like in Hong Kong as far as I heard. Anyone here have business run outside Thailand, especially Hong Kong? We try to get the business run in Thailand but it requires big bucket of money to pay. And we have not that much. In hong kong is cheaper.

At the end of the year, we are leaving Thailand for my job in Russia (my office send me to work there for 4 years) I dont know when he comes back he could get any job in 3 months. For the teaching job he is having at the moment, we applied for almost 8 months before we got responded. He is not a native so it's not easy to get a teaching job in Thailand. I also feel that many universities in Bangkok will prefer Ph D Graduates to lower level.

I heard that when he is older and no longer work he has to change the visa to pension visa and have 800,000 baht deposit in the bank. Can they make it easier for us who just wanna have a life together in Thailand? I underestimate the system here indeed like you might notice, I dont know if my government job will be handy. I will talk to the Imm people and will let you know how it comes out.

BTW, some people might get confuse about my profile. I am using my husband's log-in now. He is dutch and I am Thai. :-)

    Thanks everyone. You're guys rock!!!!

  4. Ok...Everyone, I am here to ask for your advise. I am a Thai woman, I am working for the government so I earn very little less than 40,000 baht per month. My husband is a 31-year-old dutch guy. Now he holds Non B from his work, but he likes to quit his teaching job in October and look for other possibilities. He wants to focus on IT business and it's not easy to get it start. He doesnt want to have a teaching job anymore because he doesnt have time for his IT thing. So we discuss about quiting his job now.

I heard about the new Visa rule that we need to earn as much as 40,000 baht in order to obtain the NON O. What can I do? huh....

If I cannot show that I earn 40,000 baht per month since my husband will have no job. He has to leave the country? And the Imm will refuse to extend the visa for him? What can I do? Let's say if we cannot generate more income. We have to leave the country? and split up? I have never think that Thailand is having a hard core Visa regulations before, until I am about to experience one.

If we have bank account aboard, will it help? I heard that the Imm will not care to look at our Thai deposit bank acc., will they care to see our bank statement? And anyone experience getting proof from the Embassy? I am not sure the Dutch Embassy will do this easily.

PLease I really need your help!! Thanks in advance.

  5. Ramkamhaeng does have a Thai program, and being an open Uni., it is cheap. Not as good as Chula. but I prefer the students. Many of the students come from the poorer, rural areas of Thailand. I used to work there about 9 years ago and it is great working there(or studying), for a foreigner ;-).

Does anybody have a phone number of the Thai Language dep. at Ramkhamhaeng. The one I found was out of order :o

It is an ideal place for me to learn Thai as I work in the neighbourhood....

  6. For info on starting up a Thai company, see: Starting Company In Thailand

For info on different visa types, see: Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Visas and Travel Documents Affairs

    Vinny,

Foreign Affairs quotes the visa types:

    1. Transit Visa

    2. Tourist Visa

    3. Non-Immigrant Visa

    4. Diplomatic Visa

    5. Official Visa

    6. Immigrant Visa

    7. Non-Quota Immigrant Visa

    8. Courtesy Visa

I don't see any information I don't have, which will help my website visitor except for starting up a front company to obtain a Non Immigrant B visa to stay in Thailand. But I thought you couldn't get a residence permit based upon a Non Immigrant B visa...?

  7. I would like to ask you guys a question for a visitor of a Dutch website of mine. He is a Dutch guy, 25 years old. He would like to keep his foreign job in the shiping business and live in Bangkok, Thailand. He earns about 7500 dollar net per month. What kind of visa can he can get to live in Thailand? Can he exchange is for a resident permit later on?

He is not married to a Thai, not working for a company in Thailand and not 50 years or older. How could he get a visa and what type would that be? Is setting up a front Thai limited company the only way? Or are there other possibilities?

    Thanks,

    Jasper

  8. Believe immigration is using the 400k or 40k per month but this person is dividing 400k by 12 to come up with 34k per month.  Do not believe immigration will accept that.  What they would probably accept is a bank account with 120k or more and proof of pension of 30k per month as the 120k would make up the pension deficit.  If he can put 400k into his bank account it should fly without any pension paperwork but it sounds as if he has little or no money in bank.

Thanks for the reply Lopbury. I will let him know what I already knew plus the option of 120K in the bank account + 30K a month. Don't know what he has at the bank... I fear the worst...

    Cheers,

    Jasper

  9. I have a Marriage Visa extention question for someone who sent an email to my website(mainly information in Dutch) //edit Remove URL

which I couldn't answer properly myself:

"I am 59 years old I am from the Netherlands,

    >I live in Thailand more as 7 years.

    >i am official married with a Thai Woman and a daughter from 5 years

    >old.

    >I have a year income from 7000 Euro early retiere benefits.

    >I have for more as 7 years a year visa with out any problem.

    >the rule's be change by the Thai imigration office now you must have

    >400.000 Baht income per year it is per month around 34.000 baht and

    >I have 30.000 Baht .

    >they don't give me a year visa, they give me a visa for 5 Months till

    >1 December 2005,

    >My question is can you help me for a year visa.

    >a non imigrant visa ?

    >or a longer visa ?

    >and please how much do you want ?

    >please not to much because I am not rich."

Does any of you guys have any idea wow to remedy this issue?

I know the rule of 400.000 a year or 40.000 per month, but didn't know 34.000 per month was ok too. Do you?(I haven't been able to enter the Thai Immigation web site for some time now)

You only need the 40K on your bank account during extension and then you can use it again until the next extension, right? So if he has 400K by december 2005(then his current given extension expires) it is ok, correct?

  10. So about three years to get a PR. Then 3 to 5 years to apply for Citizenship if you have been on a house registration during your PR period? Is that the same as when my Thai wife and I sign up for the ownership of a house together?

Bye the bye. My wife says that they only give citizenship to just a few people each year. Anybody heard about that too? :o
