  1. I am wondering why this has not been posted as a thread in the News section and only in the daily news that can not be commented on, better to have a thread for things like this so they can be discussed, no doubt if he was a Brit it would be up to 10 pages now in the News section Tarring all Brits, such as the thread about the sex cams.

    US sex offender caught

    By The Nation

Police yesterday arrested an American teacher who had been on an international blacklist for his previous sexual crimes against children.

Christopher Paul Brainerd, 47, was arrested at a school in Bangkok's Tha Phra area.

He entered Thailand in May, 2010. Before that, he served a fiveyear jail term in the US after a Hawaii court found him guilty of sexually abusing children. He has been on the Interpol black list.

Thai police are now preparing to deport Brainerd.

It says this guy was arrested at a school, was he working at the school? if so why was no police check performed? Was he just hanging round the school hence his arrest, what is the international blacklist and did he show up when a check was made?

I am guessing he committed no crime while here as he is only being deported.

Anyway let get the hang him high brigade in here, they seem quick enough to pounce when its a Brit.

  2. He is typical of the few Thai people that think their power in their home country extends to the wider world, then they get a shock when they are questioned and their wrong doings are not just swept under the carpet.

sorry but in the real world the press will dig deeper, people in authority will ask questions, and you can't hide behind your thai power.

The reason England did not play here was because asked for TV rights for the game to give his vote to England, it wasn't enough that they came here for the Thai people, he wanted his own little slice of the pie also, and as a result many Thai people missed out.

  3. tbf to the woman, she posted it on twitter for her followers, never made a big deal out of it, if she wanted to she could have gone to the press, she refused to speak to the press, so why are people having a go at her for this.

She was either the victim of a crime or an accident victim, the police are dealing with it. I fail to see how she is milking this like some of you are claiming in your desire to defend everything thai. she has not said it was a thai that did this.

Puleeze, just because someone asks for a bit of proof when an extemely serious allegation is made does not mean one is defending everything Thai. Futhermore, even if it is true it is hardly any condemnation of Thailand or Thai society. I mean seriously, when a terrible crime is commited back in your home country is that a cue to wail about how terrible your countrymen are and condemn your country's culture? Are Norwegians horrible people and Norway a terrible place to live because of the actions of a maniac who wanted to make a point about Muslim immigrants there? Is Norway now a dangerous place to live? How about the UK, should we all avoid the place because of the recent riots and agree that Brits are the scum of the earth?

As far as the 'milking it' issue, she not only tweeted this, but she wrote a blog post specifically devoted to this, melodramatically addressing the post to 'Thailand' as a now-spurned lover. An acid attack targeting strangers is extremely serious. In light of the fact that she was once eager to let all and sundry know about this, she then apparently refuses to speak to the press, which would be the responsible thing to do as it would add credibility to her story and further alert the public. There are also elements of her story that don't make a lot of sense and she will do nothing to clarify them. I also strongly suspect, but cannot prove as I didn't make a screen grab, that she has altered the body of her original post to add details that were suspicously missing earlier (police report, acid vs alkali, looking for cleaning person, etc.) To make it clear, I am not referring to the updates added subsequently, but the body of the original post. Whenever anyone reports a very serious crime like this and then hushes up or is not forthcoming it is hard not to suspect that there might be more (or less) to the story than we are were led to believe. My apologies if I demand a bit more in the way of proof when serious allegations are made, no matter in which country they are made.

you completely miss the point of my post but well done for writing such a long post about something that I have not even mentioned,

fair enough, aim your diatribe at the posters that criticise everything Thai, however my post is simply saying this woman did not even say it was a thai person, she didnt even see who it was, she made a few tweets (this is after all what tweets are for) about her day, it was picked up by a paper who then printed it, not at her request, if she wanted the publicity she could have got the paper down, pictures, interview etc etc etc. She has done no wrong here. Extremely serious?? your words, not hers.

Amazing, someone uses a social network for what it is there for, to give information, and they get abused for it, called drama queens etc, maybe twitter should just close down, or ban tweeters from talking about themslves or what has happened to them.

On another note, those of you that think thais do no wrong are well wide of the mark, just as those are that tarnish ALL thais after the idiotic antics of some. Both sides need to get their heads out of their <deleted>.

if you are waiting for more proof then i suggest you wait for the police report, or do you expect all this proof to come from a victim?? I can just see it now "that woman that got her head cut off and washed up on koh chang, I am just not buying it, i want more proof that her head was cut off, why is she not doing more to bring us proof of this, I am sorry, but call me old fashioned, a headless corpse is just not enough, i want a statement from her in the press"

  4. Main reason that UK cops don't have to be corrupt : overtime payments, one cop cleared over 100,000 pounds last year, these figures used to be kept secret until freedom of information act

    independent link

Police Overtime payments, second jobs, are costing taxpayers BILLIONS in UK, did i mention that they retire at 50, and frequently get other public jobs afterwards, Now THAT is corruption, not just a few baht

    drivel.

Police in the UK are not allowed to have secondary incomes, they are also not allowed to have debts unless they have been previously approved. as for overtime, sadly they are so understaffed that overtime is necessary at certain times,

retirement is after 30 years or aged 55, someone having served 30 years but not reached 35 can stay on, but the pension has peaked so there is no real need, a fair amount of salary is paid every months towards the pension, in my day it was 11%.

After retirement they can apply for work, the same as anyone else, I don't know where you get the idea from that they just walk into public jobs afterwards, I would love to see your source for this. they are however employable as they have good verifiable records.

I am sorry but i am struggling to see where you get 'corruption' from this.

  5. Isn't the owner down as the car park attendant, or am I wrong, I recall the car park attendant was down as some form of owner.

Ok so the owner has been dealt with, and the special effects guy, what about the negligence now from all shareholders, the police that allowed it to open, the fraud in gaining the licence etc etc etc

  6. tbf to the woman, she posted it on twitter for her followers, never made a big deal out of it, if she wanted to she could have gone to the press, she refused to speak to the press, so why are people having a go at her for this.

  7. I was stopped at a road block on saturday night near my condo, 3 lanes filtered to one lane, I stop, he shines in his torch and signals me to drive on, i drive on only for one moron to decide that he wanted me to stop and wheeled the barrier into the front bumper of my car. lets just say I was not pleased after being signaled to drive on.

The one that had told me to drive on was full of apologies and checked the front of my car with me for damage while the moron sort of just blended in as far away from me as he could :D clowns

  8. We are a farang business and we had an issue with a previous Thai manager, I will not go into details even though the matter has been dealt with but it involved theft, fraud, defamation.

Initially we went to Thonglor police with a lawyer employed by my employer, we had to pay the police to take the case, statements were taken from my employer and staff. A few months passed, by this time I was looking after the business so it was left to me to deal with it.

One day my staff was at the police station making a further statement whilst her husband sat outside, he overheard our lawyer and the defendants lawyer talking, in thai, and agreeing to drag it out as long as possible to get more money for themselves, Lucky he told me this, I called the lawyer and sacked him there and then.

oh, background, i am ex uk police and have law degree.

I employed a new lawyer and at this point things started to move quicker, eventually we were called to court for negotiation, I had put the evidence together (expect to do this as the lawyer does very little on this front). At negotiation the defendant made a derisory offer which I rejected and asked to move forward to trial, the judge agreed (this is held in a side room rather than in the court). We were told there is only one chance for this negotiation, however 2 months later we were called back again for negotiation in front of a different judge. he told us that he will be the trial judge but would like one more chance at negotiation first, he asked that the criminal and civil be split and he will deal with the criminal at that time if I agreed, he went on to tell both me and the defendant that based on the evidence if it goes to trial that we will win and the defendant would have a conviction, as well as a prison term, and damages to pay, so advised them to make a serious offer. This offer was made and I accepted it along with other terms. This brought an end to criminal proceedings but not the civil ones which are still ongoing.

So our procedure was to go to the police, present the case, pay them to deal with it, they then interview the defendant, forward the case to a prosecutor to decide if it moves onto court. In our matter is was forwarded to the courts. At no point was the defendant charged with any offence or arrested for any offence.

the matter took 12 months before we got to court, the civil matter is another 12 months with still no court date.

You are correct that there is no need to visit police, it can be taken directly to the courts, expect negotiation/mediation first and then only after this expect any trial.

this was my experience, maybe others differ. we are farang, the defendant was thai, don't buy into the old cliche that you will not win, put the case together strongly, stand firm when the try and dissuade you, and you will get the right decision at the end of it.

throughout the whole matter, the only people that asked for money was the police, this stopped when the new lawyer appeared as he was high profile and seemed to be associated with high profile people, but he did cost more ;)

  9. This doesn't sound at all like they know it was intentional. Some liquid fell upon them from a height, causing a little damage. Construction, accident, could be anything. Acid attacks usually leave horrific scars on the face.

this was my thought depending on the staircase, there isnt enough info as to whether they saw someone squirt it or whether they have just had accidental contact

  10. Another case of TIT where anything can happen and very often does.

It confounds me why tourists even want to visit the realm.

If it is the staircase at robinsons then it is a little away from the bts, at first I thought the stairwell near terminal 21 where the new construction is and it could be accidental, if nobody has walked past there I suggest you try, its a complete hazard. But if it is the staircase near Robinsons (the westin hotel) then I guess its intended and not accidental.

  11. 3 tweets, none of them seem to have an agenda, for once in your lives people, accept that everything is not rosy in Thailand and things do happen, no need to be politically correct and say it also happens to Thais when there is no proof of this, in this instance it has happened to two westerners so lets just accept that it has happened to 2 westerners without assuming that it also happened to thais.

    the tweets are

  12. ...I will nail my colours to the mast here, I think Aldhouse did it, but that is not the issue in this thread, the issue here is whether the evidence obtained by the Thai police is good enough, and is Thailand a fit and proper place for the UK to extradite one of their own to face trial. The evidence being put forward is full of holes and is enough to cast reasonable doubt and that is all that is needed.

This will not be the fault of aldhouse, longfellow, the UK legal system, this will fall squarely at the feet of the incompetent Thai police and the Thai legal system.

No, that is not all that is needed. All that is needed is for the judge to decide whether the evidence supplied to him would be sufficient to make a case requiring an answer if the proceedings were a summary trial in the UK. In making the decision the judge may treat any statement made by a person to a police officer or investigating officer as admissible evidence of a fact if direct oral evidence of the fact would be admissible.

From the evidence publically available, mainly the statements of the GF to the police, this threshold seems to have been met.

    TH

my mistake, i should have been clearer, in this instance I was referring to trial rather than extradition, the evidence for trial is full of holes, the evidence for extradition is enough. however it is other matters that are holding up extradition and not the evidence available.

If this trial is held in the UK expect him to walk free at the the end of it.

  13. Just a question; have any of you ever met Aldhouse ? Well I did and it was not pleasant at all !

    Relevance?

I have met many unpleasant people, that does not mean they are murderers.

LMAO, I thought you claimed to be an expoliceman???

Certainly you should know that a person's character and past bad behaviors (such as violence & temper) certainly are relevant. Not only relevant in determining the person's guilt & credibility but also in sentencing. A person's past behavior and personality are certainly relevant ... have you never heard of character witnesses?

again i extend my invitation to pm me for proof of my previous employment,

I said I have met many unpleasant people. where do i mention violence and temper, where does the poster mention violence and temper, he simply says it was not pleasant, and I simply state i have met unpleasant people, this does not make them murderers or violent or bad tempered. there are also murderers that show no tendencies to the outside world, pleasant calm people that charm the public, even at trial.

Weird, now you are inventing things. i think we will end this now, I will wait for your pm so we can at least one of your little aspersions to bed about my previous employment

  14. amazing, you seem to have evidence that nobody else or has or that has not been released.

Nothing I stated is not backed up by what has been reported to date and already linked on this thread.

However, some of us are still waiting for your sources on claims such as your stating the victim was thrown out of his training class as well as your claim that there is somebody free in the UK who the courts refused to extradite to Thailand ... not to mention your claims that there was not witness to the murder. But I'm guessing this all seems logical to you being an ex-policeman (as you claim).

Here we go again, I extend my invitation for you to pm me so I can offer proof of my previous career, if you choose to not take this chance to see some some proof then stop casting aspersions, deal?

i know proof is not needed in Nisas world, just mere speculation is enough, I have already linked to the report that states he was kicked out of his classes and commented on my other claim, and when i find that i will post it, unlike you I have a life away from this forum and in time I will recover that report also.

I will also wait for you to link to the report that states that the murder weapon found at the scene is the knife taken from 7/11, Nisa we both know this report does not exist as this report has never been made, we all know this, just say you are speculating, its ok, w understand you have tied yourself in knots here with your claims and counter claims with nothing to back this up, and when asked for sources you would rather come back with counter claims about sources rather than back your claim up.

anyway, I am waiting for your pm so we can at least put that little bit of nonsense on your side to bed once and for all and we can do away with your snide (as you claim) comments :whistling:

  15. Just a question; have any of you ever met Aldhouse ? Well I did and it was not pleasant at all !

  16. 8. based on number 7 Aldhouse will not be extradited to thailand, he will be walking round the UK as a free man as is one of his fellow nationals that was also refused to be extradited here.

Who was the other UK National who didn't get extradited to Thailand ?

Please also provide a source for this ...

    3. Both men had been asked to leave their training camps because of drink and influences outside affecting training

I've not seen any mention of the victim having troubles of this type and it would be very disrespectful to his family to say such a thing "if" not true.

UKRules I can not seem to put my finger on the report at the moment but I will keep searching.

    Nisa, see the below link

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/38724287/ns/world_news-asia_pacific/t/thai-slaying-briton-american-both-drawn-kickboxing/

just because you have not seen mention of it it does not mean it wasn't mentioned

  17. That is not forensic evidence of the accused being at the murder scene.

Never once said it was but logic would dictate a link between him at the murder scene because he was in possession of the murder weapon just before the murder. If his ID or hair was found at the scene you would be making the same illogical and unreasonable argument.

That is forensic police stating that the knife at the murder scene was the one used to commit the murder (shock).

And that the murder weapon has been identified as the one(s) he took from the 711 before the murder (linking him to the murder & murder scene), after he stated he wanted to kill somebody and after he got his butt kicked by the victim and then went on to stab to death the victim according to the eye witness who says she saw him kill the suspect.

There is no forensic evidence linking Lee Aldhouse to the murder scene (as yet released). Can we please agree on that at least?

There is a plethora of evidence not released yet and it is more than likely that they at minimum have finger prints on the knives and/or in the home but even if they didn't, there is already enough information released for any reasonable person to believe he did this baring any miraculous evidence the defense puts out at trial such as the suspect having a twin.

amazing, you seem to have evidence that nobody else or has or that has not been released.

you say logic dictates that there is a link between him an the murder scene, i can just picture it now, "your Honour, i can prove that Aldhouse is the murderer as logic dictates it. Prove it??/ i don't need to. logic dictates it"

secondly, it is said that the murder weapon was found at the scene, nobody is disputing this, however it has never been said that this is the knife taken from 7/11, or it has never been said it is a knife from 7/11, it simply says a knife at the murder scene is the weapon used. If I have missed a link that states that the weapon found at the scene is the knife taken from 7/11 please link to it, you are stating this as fact has I have bolded above, Lets not forget here, there were 2 bloodied knives found, how so? Aldhouse is said to have taken one knife with him when he left and discarded the other at the scene. the second bloodied knife belongs to the apartment. but as long as you have logic none of this matters right?
