  1. ^ Truly awful from the mods, not used the site for a couple of months, just came back on it to catch up, it is completely un-usable and will revisit again in a couple of months. On my PC ive got about 25% of the screen Not covered in ads / vids. Being a web designer it is just upsetting to see! ???? ????

It should not be a problem to apply for the work permit with your non-o visa and then extend it based upon working.

Only to apply for a extension based upon being the parent of a Thai requires legitimization of your parenthood.

many thanks for the info. This is what I was hoping for in the first place, so will give the accountant a call and chat futher with them

  3. Hi All, just after any recent reports from Anadam Club Ranong, is it ok to get a visa exempt? Quick history, I have been on non-O multiple visas for last 3 years (only these in my passport). I have to go to penang in about 2-3 weeks to apply for a non-B, just waiting on the approval letter from Ministry of Labour which will not be ready before my last entry stamp expires on 10th January. I would prefer to avoid going out to get a non-O then having to do it again 2 weeks later for the non-B, a visa exempt from ranong would be best for me if they are issuing those?

    Thanks all

As I will have to go for multiple non o visa based on thai child to penang (avoiding local immigration office) could you give me some info on jims place agent?

Sorry just saw this. Jims is on Chulia Street, every taxi driver knows it if you are not staying near there, so its really easy to find. I gave him 7,000 baht, that included the 750 ringgit visa fee - yes paid in baht not ringgit, can do either with Jim. I gave it to him on Sunday evening so he could submit it monday morning, told me to come back tuesday at 2.30pm, which i did, queue was out the door at jims but everyone was dealt with fast and i was in a taxi back to the airport an hour later. He wanted my original bank book for the process which I got back with my passport, everything else was copies apart from bank statements printed by my bank and stamped / signed

KL has not done multiple entry non-o visas for years now.

If based upon marriage Savannakhet will do one without financial proof. Vientiane does not issue multiple entry visas.

Penang is the only location I am aware of the will issue a multiple entry non-o based upon being the parent of a Thai and they want to see 400k baht or proof of income.

Quick update, I just got back from Penang and was successful in getting a multiple non-O based on thai child. I had all the paperwork, tabien baan, ID copies etc but I did not have 400k in my bank book (had 120k), but I did get stamped and signed bank statements printed from my thai bank account which showed 40k+ per month going in for the last year - I submitted statements and bank book. I also used jims place agent. Hope this helps someone in the future!

    Not in Penang.

Most other nearby location not ask for no financial proof.

In KL and Singapore it might be 400k baht proof.

Sorry, im confused, on page 1 you state its 200k for a single non-O in penang but now not in penang?

I did just check with a friend for clarification and turned out he went last week to penang for a single non-o based on being a parent of a thai child and he was not asked for any financial proof, so think I will be ok!

    Thanks again

    No

For a single entry non-o it is 200k baht. For a multiple entry it is 400k baht and/or proof of income.

I thought there was no financial requirement for a single? I am going on Monday to Penang, applying based on Thai child with birth certificate, tabien baan, ID signed copies etc, but do not have that in my thai bank. Is that a new rule?

It would be worth checking with one of the Penang agents about the requirements for a ME non 'O', and/or paying them to submit the application.

I'm not sure if they will accept income and require at least 400K in the bank for a ME. If they do accept income I doubt they'd accept bank statements and would probably want a letter certifiying your income from your embassy.  The bank statements should be enough to get a letter from your embassy.

Thats great thanks, was not sure if the statements would be sufficient, I think the nearest british embassy from phuiket is in bkk? so I will just get a single this time round I think

I was under the impression that being registered in house book was a requirement to get a birth certificate.

I went to our local amphor yesterday here in Phuket to get my son on my condos house book / tabien baan, I already had the original birth certificate in-hand supplied by the hospital, so it was the other way round here.

You'll only get a single entry visa good for 90 days at most embassies/consulates. You might get a multiple entry visa at Penang, Malaysia if you can show at least 400K baht (or equivalent in another currency) in a bank.

I am in a similar situation and going to penang in 2 weeks. I have birth cert, tabien baan etc. I have a kbank account with deposits over 40k baht per month for the past year, is that sufficient do you think? I already printed the statements out at kbank and they stamped everything. A single entry is ok, but I will try for the ME non-O, just want to give myself the best chance

Coming from Hua Hin, have taxi for day not worried re waiting time cost, just wanted to advise him of approx times plus would like to know myself. What would be really handy is to know the Andaman club ferry times but I can't see them on the hotel website or the net apart from an article by Samui times in 2014. If anyone has more updated schedule I'd be keen to see it thanks all

I went 2 weeks ago, the times on the board at the entrance were every hour, there and back, on the hour. 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 1pm, 2, 3 etc. all day. There used to be a break for lunch but not anymore. Out and in were both on the hour. I got the 11am boat there and 12pm boat back - it was not ferries this time, smaller white boats with roof, very fast, max 10 minutes to get across.

That info is not available anywhere online, I tried to find it too.

The change last month was that only 2 visa exempt entries are allowed at a land border crossing per calendar and everybody gets a 30 day entry.

You can do a crossing at Ranong for a new visa exempt entry it you want to.

Do you know if anyone has tried this this month? I used to use the andaman club at ranong for tourist visas (2+ years ago). I have an ED visa expiring on 3rd Feb which I have been on for 1 year and need to get a visa exempt while I am sorting paperwork for a non-O next month due to me becoming a father here (not born yet, he is late! hence the need for a visa exempt as ive run out of time). I was going to fly out and in same day, but if ranong is an option I can drive.

Note that if you are on a Ed visa, you must attend an interview and examination with the Dept of Education the at the end of the first 90 days to decide if you can pass to the next level. Should you fail, your Ed visa is cancelled and you have to leave the country, however there is a chance (depending on who interviewed you) that you might be given 7 days to study and resit the exam again, if you fail then your ED visa is cancelled and you have a few days to leave the country.

You can come back in on a visa on arrival then enroll at the school and collect paperwork, leave the country again and apply for a non B, then come back and change it to an Ed visa and start to study again.

Finally, schools have to show they are teaching students, they will ensure the paperwork you submit to Dept of Education passes the exam, however if you fail when you have a face to face interview then its your fault. You cannot come back with a new ED visa and start back on level 1 again as the school has already made sure you have passed on paper with the initial theory exam they submitted.

Just to add a bit more info, I am doing this right now in Phuket, the dept of education examination for me which I sat 2 weeks ago occurred on the second 90 day extension not the first (so after 6 months from starting), for the first extension I was interviewed at the immigration office, most likely different in different provinces but that is how it is in Phuket currently. We have also had a visit or two from immigration at the school to check attendance and sit in for a small amount of time.

Does anybody know if they want 4x6 inches pictures on photographic paper, or pictures printed on standard A4 sheet of paper ?

I would not like to be sent back from Immigration just for this reason .......

I had to do the same for my ED visa at phuket immigration, it is 100% to be printed full size on A4 paper (1 pic per page). Originally I put 4 pics on 1 A4 page and it was rejected, and I had to go away and do it again.

What do condo residents do?  A picture of their condo unit door with the unit number?  Do many condos have their street address number posted on the front of the building?

I had to do this in phuket immigration too for my ED visa. Picture inside the condo, picture outside the front door with number visible, picture standing in front of the building with building number visible too (which mine has luckily). Plus a google map and location. I originally put all 4 on 1 page, had to redo it as it was not accepted, 1 large pic per page.

  16. I had 4 triple tourist visas in my current passport spread across 2 years as I am in and out alot, 2 from Hull and 2 from london since the changes, got my 5th one in June from london no problem at all.

And no, I was not asked for any proof, just had to complete the planned dates of travel.

Brilliant. "Complete the planned dates of travel" - on the application form? Some embassies/consulates want you to submit a separate travel plan with exact dates for your entry, border runs and exit.

Its just an entry on the form, 'when do you plan on travelling to Thailand', 'how long to you intend to stay', I've never been asked for a travel plan etc from either Hull or London.

  17. Applications by mail are no longer accepted by the consulates.

Mailed visa applications have to be sent to the Thai Embassy in London.

Ok. How good/bad are they compared to, say, Hull in the "good old days" (well, 2012-2013 really)? Tricky to deal with or grant most applications as long as all requirements (which would be...?) are met?

Would be very grateful if someone with recent experience can share. Need to apply for a triple entry tourist visa next month, I do have three previous visas (one triple-entry, two singles) but these are from 2012 - early 2014.

  18. Now you have to apply by post to London immigration (Hull will only do in person applications), they have different forms to the Hull office so make sure you download them from the London office web site and not the Hull one. It's still just as quick as hull, in June I had my passport back after 3 working days. They require the completed form, passport photos, passport and fee (postal order or cash only, credit cards and cheques are not allowed).
