  1. A quick search for   "The Strange Sinovac Vaccine Phenomenon"  will bring up a recent article that should make everyone in Thailand totally re-think the use of the most widely used vaccine in the country.

If this is anything to go by, it looks like Thailand should halt the use of it immediately, as what has been happening in other countries that are using this particular vaccine, is that Covid cases are ramping up at a very rapid rate, instead of the opposite, which the vaccine was supposed to be doing.

So it really looks like we are in the beginning of  a really bad Flu season right now.  The numbers will be catching up to some of the hardest hit countries very soon, if they keep buying & using the vaccine in question.

Read the Article, and judge for yourself.

I would hypothisize  that the drop in deaths is mostly attributed to the more accurate reporting of actual cause of death. Prior to a few months ago, every death was being recorded as a Covid death. Check the CDC's updated numbers using a corrected reporting method, and you will see that actual Covid deaths are less than 10% of what they were reporting all of last year.

But yes, the vaccines should have an impact on death rates, as it does prevent you from getting very sick, but does not prevent you from catching, carrying & shedding the virus.

  3. It's all irrelevant anyway. The current vaccines do not prevent you from getting, carrying & shedding the virus.

They only prevent your from getting very sick. In fact there are many reports of vaccinated people testing positive

    for the virus after vaccination.

So this hypothesis that vaccinated people are safe to travel without quarantine is pure hogwash.

Better just open up the world & let this flu take it's course, before the entire global economy is completely desecrated.

  4. Isn't this what Medevac is for?

They take care of everything, including a Dr. & Nurses on the flight.

There are very few commercial flights to anywhere from Thailand now, mostly repatriation flights, & those are chartered.  I don't think first class would be an option.

I would also think that anyone willing to do this would expect a return flight to Thailand as well.

  5. How does quarantine actually work. There is supposedly four people per room. So are they mixing them together as in, one of four  gets released, and is replaced by a new arrival at some point during the 2 weeks. Or are every 4 people kept together for the two week period? What happens when 2 people have a conflict and can't get along? Are they changing around the room mates?

Who knows what is really happening in these quarantine centers.

"They will be quarantined when they enter the country same as everyone else until those restrictions are lifted."

Unfortunately, 2 weeks quarantine will not be a cure for the generaly obnoxious behavior, the shouting, spitting all over the place, cutting in lines, and acting like bafoons at the buffet Etc.  That would require a much longer stay in quarantine. Like many years.

So will this be your position henceforth regardless of who is in power in the administration? There's really no need for any internal oversight or people to serve as Inspector-Generals? You'll be okay once a Democrat is in power for there to be no oversight? Or do you believe that the administration should select their own oversight or IGs? What could go wrong with that?

This is one of the many short-sighted viewpoints we see out of the Trump crowd, they will support anything that provides him free reign to do whatever he wants while he is in power, then will bleat endlessly after he's gone about how there's no check on government power. Similar to what we saw in Wisconsin, they actually pass laws to give Republican Governors new and extended powers, then once they lose the Governorship, pass laws to reduce the Governor's power to practically zero. This is not policy, this is not ideology. This is simply using partisan political power to achieve minority goals regardless of future consequence.

Remember how the Right used to go on and on about the "Imperial Presidency" of Obama and how he was usurping power not granted to him by the Constitution? Seems so long ago now.

"Or do you believe that the administration should select their own oversight or IGs?"

Of course they should, just as Obama chose the IG that was just fired. If you think it should be different, then start lobbying your Democrat friends to change the law.

As for oversight, I think that Mr. Trump has been subject to more oversight than any President in History, and they just keep coming at him with every crooked scheme that they think the people might believe this time.

It's well past time that the tables were turned, and that is exactly what has Washington in a panic now, as they all know they are about to be exposed.

Even with an all out assault of lies (Adam Schiff), and manufactured crimes, and the unprecidented rigging of the justice system, and the Main Stream Media singing their chorus, they have still not found anything illegal that the President has done, in 3 years and 100's of millions of dollars wasted in partisan investigations, in which I am sure they left no stone unturned. That should tell you something. There is no There, there.

You haven't asked yourself why suddenly no one is talking about the common flu which kills >300k worldwide every year?

I think that the SARS COV-2 is the common flu for this season, it's just that it has been genetically modified this year to make it somewhat easier to spread, and able to infect more people than in previous years. It does not seem too much deadlier than the usual seasonal flu though. Of course that is no concession to anyone in the group who have a higher risk of mortality from getting it.

Can you provide the original link?  This is the data I have been looking for but unable to find.  I can't figure out where that is aggregated on the cdc website: https://www.cdc.gov/DataStatistics/

    Hi Tlock

I have been doing many hours of reading over the past weeks & i often clip things that i find of interest, but usually don'y pay too much attention to where i got them from.

But i had a look and here are a few links that will point you in the right direction. Trying to find info on the CDC site is exhausting (probably intentionally, as they don't want the masses to know everything anyway).

    https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/mortality-dashboard.htm

    https://wonder.cdc.gov

Wonder is kind of a search tool for all their data  that is the landing page, there is a section of databases in the first column called Mortality.

From there, depending which database you choose (you have to agree to terms) and then it takes you to a complex queery tool

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers

    Jesus, talk about false equivalents.

Amazingly enough, when you lockdown 99% of the population, less people are exposed to other major killers such as road deaths (38,000) other accidents (169,936) and normal flu (55,672) https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/deaths.htm. There is even a trend saying 'allmost half of the respondents reported that they are seeing a 40 percent to 60 percent reduction in admissions for heart attacks'. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/06/well/live/coronavirus-doctors-hospitals-emergency-care-heart-attack-stroke.html stating 'Maybe we have removed some of the triggers for heart attacks and strokes, like excessive eating and drinking or abrupt periods of physical exertion'.

Buy hey, produce a fancy graph that feeds into your echo chamber and I'll sure no one will notice.

Actually in a lot of States in the USA, and some European countries, all of the missing deaths you are talking about (with the exception of Auto accidents0 are still occurring. They are just being reported as Covid 19 deaths. Some intentionally in order to receive more government funds, (same as putting people on ventilators, knowing it will not help them, & most likely even kill them sooner) as well as, many where people were in fact infected with Covid 19, but it was not the actual cause of death.

So taking that into account, the numbers, if skewed at all, it is by a very small margin.

There's only 15 new cases because they not testing many people here.

    Count backwards.

For 15 new cases, that would mean 14 of the cases would all have been in contact with the same spreader.  I highly doubt that, across the whole country.

    Quote

There are a lot more cases. a lot more deaths, and a lot of covering up.

Looking at it from a risk assessment point of view, do you think you would get a ventilator here, and a chance of living?

With a lot of time on my hands lately i have been reading an awful lot of Corona related news & information.

Thailand is a very good place to be regarding treatment for those who were infected and show severe symptoms.

They are admitting to hospital right away, and starting to administer every known drug to fight the virus. That is why the death rate is quite low.

Many countries like the UK & parts of Europe & America, are just treating this like they would treat a normal flu. That is not working. Ventilators are killing people, known drugs are not being prescribed, or are prescribed when it's too late.

As surprised as I was, Thailand is doing very well at treatment. In fact so well, the GPO just ordered many extra supplies of major drugs they are using to treat the patients.

Not sure if I can post the link here but for those who are interested it was from one of the 2 big english papers on April 23rd.

    "GPO ups production"

The drugs are  Favipiravir, Hydroxychloroquine, Darunavir, Ritonavir, Azithromycin, Lopinavir and Ritonavir.

So many of you might thing that Thailand does not know what they are doing, in treatment, but in actual fact, they are doing far more to save your life than many other countries I have been reading about.

So i am quite satisfied that this is where i am to ride out this pandemic. If i do happen to get serious symptoms when i become infected, I can at least know that the correct treatment will be available to me. I won't be getting told that doctors in this country are only allowed to prescribe treatments that have already undergone a double blind test, and just left to die.

I am surely glad i was not in the UK or New York.

  12. Most of the world lives on Debt.

The credit card companies will be offering people 25K to 50K Dollars unsecured and many people will take it and give themselves a must deserved holiday after being locked down for many months.

When they find out that the actual mortality rate of Covid 19 SARS is only slightly higher than a bad flu season, they will be celebrating and if the governments stay out of trying to control peoples lives, things will return to normal fairly quickly.

There is allready a lot of pressure growing to get back to normal, and we are only a few months in. This will continue to build.

Now wether people will want to spend their holidays in Thailand is as yet, unknown.

Depends what kind of incentives the government offers, and how people view Thailand's coziness with the people that caused the worldwide calamity. Most westerners will view them as the lepers of the world for the foreseeable future, so Thailand should reconsider it's relationship with the brothers from the north, so as not to be tainted with the same brush.

As i read earlier today, they should not be in such a hurry to get into bed with the Wolf that Attacked the Hen House.

  13. I thought that the solution when there is no city water is to call up one of the water companies and order in a truck load to fill up your tank.

If you don't have a tank, then you better go and buy one (get the biggest you can afford, and have space for) because now with all of the

water theft going on with 9 dams upstream by the same lovely people who gave is the current virus, Thailand is going to be in a drought

situation for a very long time.

If the land is dry and parched, it is unlikely that we will get much rain in the future. The only long term solution is a sizable desalination plant

in the Leam Chabang area, and whoever has the foresight to build this will make an awful lot of money in the future.

Im not wound up, the comment to me was right. If I dont like the xenopobia, poor service, terrible road safety, comstant digs at "farang", government feeding the whole bad attitude towards foreigners, second class citizen despite my decent contribution to society,, etc, etc,, then I could just leave. Well thats what me and my family did, never to return,. Anyway this thread is about the lockdown, so I hope it goes smoothly this time and you all stay safe. Good luck everyone.

Maybe you should change your Thai Visa Profile, as the Location:  Still states "Thailand".
