  1. I'm on a non b extension based on retirement. I'll be moving from CM to KK January next year, 2021. I'm looking for advice and or contact details of a legitimate Visa Agent to assist/advise on what I have to do to ensure continuity of banking details when I move banks, i.e. the 800000B, renewing extension next year based on marriage rather than retirement and any other movement/90 day documents I'll have to deal with.

  2. If you want to live in a walled security zone full of Expats, try Palm Springs beside the superhighway on the way to the airport. Or maybe stay in the UK and spend more time at the British Legion.jap.gif Welcome to Thailand.

  3. the majority of these girls have little to no education, and this is a way of providing sufficient funds for them to survive, and also to send money to family. The thai government needs to encourage the younger generation to try stay in school and also to provide good grants for 3rd level education.

Maybe no education but most of "these girls" speak better english than most Thai Uni students. "These girls" will be the ones to prosper come 2015 Asean. An good luck to them.

  4. If nobody wants to sell sex, it is a crime to force anyone to do so. But when men or women do want to sell their bodies, they should have that full right without encountering punishment or discrimination. If the client behaves decently, the relationship between the sex buyer and the sex seller must be considered a purely private transaction.

No problem with that. Prostitution is worldwide where there are legal brothels visited by the desparate and lonely. In Thailand it is out in the open, move it into brothels and behind closed doors away from public view. The sex tourist can enter the brothel, dump his load and move on. The girls won't be druugging the victim inside a brothel where he will pass out for hours as they need the bed for the next punter. The punter won't be fleeced of all the valuables unless he is stupid enough to take them all to the brothel. A brothel would be more controlled

It seems you have had some unfortunate experiences. Perhaps you should consider raising the class of establishment and/or partner, as many of us who have lived many years don't seem to have had similar problems.

You must also realise that ALL of the young ladies with whom I have discussed the matter, do not consider themselves to be prostitutes, and the thought of working in a "knocking shop" would be quite abhorrent. The Thai word for prostitute is so-pee-nee. If you shoould choose to use that to refer to a bar-girl or massage parlour attendant the result might well be quite ugly.

If you accept money for sex it's prostitution, (prostituting oneself). Call it happy ending or what you like, it's still prostitution. coffee1.gif

  5. I've just put my daughter into an international school after 3 years in a renowned Thai nursery/early years school. The difference is astounding. To be blunt she learnt nothing at the Thai school and has learnt more in 1 month at ther new school than 3 years in the Thai school. The Thai system creates lazy dummies and sadly always will.

    I totally agree with you.

But you also pay more in 1 months than 3 years in govt school (which is 100% free plus free books plus cash for uniform plus cash for equipments).

True but you get electricity in the private schools.

Also how is a cheap tablet that no one understands going to help a student to add 2+2 with out counting on his fingers or grabbing a machine.

The students would have no problem if there was games on the Pads but there isn't and the rest is all lost on them.

I think the tablets have a calculator in them. Perfect for Thai kids, they don't have to think just push buttons.

  6. so what you are saying, is the 3 or 4 native English teachers are the root causes of this ineffective system out of a pool of maybe 90 thai teachers in a large secondary school. yes you are not a teacher because if you were, you would know that any suggestion (and i mean ANY suggestion) by a foreign teacher is instantly dismissed by the thai staff. anything (and i mean anything) that could help the department function better at no extra cost to the school, is ignored.

the thai teachers are sheep, just following the same mundane repetitive teaching system since the 60's. they take more interest organising evenings out, school trips (that are just a jaunt with no benefit to the students) or their huge breakfasts, lunch and 5 times snacks than actually trying to change this broken system of education. the directors of these schools just cream funds destined for the students off the top and continue to plant their flower gardens and trees with the same bullshit signs all over the school, 'to be Number 1" and other nonsensical signs that are, 9 times out of 10 grammatically incorrect. when asked, why didn't you just ask your foreign teachers to check them first, you get the same answer, 'we don't want to lose face.'

basically, if you are white, young, handsome and a binge drinker, then you are the one for them.

the amount of fully qualified, real teachers, turned away from thai schools is huge because the thai staff know that this foreigner will want to teach. when he finds out this is just another monkey house, like the rest, he's gonna be pissed and they don't want change.

"dance for us monkey, dance. make the students laugh, turn up early, leave late and kiss our <deleted>. you will last a long time here farrang, we love you." hit-the-fan.gif

    Well said. clap2.gif

  7. The teacher appraisal system needs a multi-dimensional approach that empowers the students with a small part of the evaluation process. Student performance is the key not their opinion.

    Spot on.

Our school has that very system, students are empowered with a small part of the evaluation process and the overall appraisal system works well. Shame about the rest of the education system.

  8. Only Thais can steal from Thais.

Better to have Thai steal from Thai, than Farang steal from Thai.

So the money will still circulate in Thailand to boost Thai economy.

Your clearly in the Thai Banking business, or maybe a Thai Politician or maybe just Thai. Why would you even advocate stealing from your own people. It's as if you think its normal to steal. sick.gif

  9. Very tragic. So young, it makes me think about my own kids, I could cry, truly I could. All these Thai bashers on here. As yet we are not in possession of all the facts and are not able to assume anything. The problem is that many tourists are not familiar with the Thai system of driving, different road rules and so on. I can remember the very first time I hit the roads in Thailand, it came as an awful shock, and it was a miracle that I survived the first year. But eventually I learned to drive defensively in Thailand, but it took time. I believe that young inexperienced tourists like these should not be let loose on the roads here without first being briefed on the dangers of Thailand’s roads. At least the travel agencies should issue leaflets just to make them aware.

Here we go. Blame the tourists..WPFflags.gif

  10. Sad indeed. But also sad to see all the barstool-judges around here. You don't know what happened, but you are all ready to put the blame on the truckdriver. What about an unexperienced Swedish driver, new driverslicence, rental car and driving (for a Swede) on the wrong side of the road ?? OR

a Thai driver in the Swedes car, trying to impress the young ladies ??

Why rush to blame the driver you say! HE RAN AWAY from the scene of the accident, enough said. In most countries that's enough to get you locked up whether you caused the accident or not.
