  1. While applying for my Non O-A during October 2019, the embassy insisted on a valid health insurance and i did obtain one.  then only my visa was granted.

I was only hoping that Thai immigration authorities will issue a guideline to the effect that the visa validity will be simply extended without any major conditions attached (except for the insurance part) by about atleast six months so that i can avoid the hassles of applying again.  It remains only as a hope.  We all need to wait and watch.

just for information, i did use the visa and made a trip in November 2019 and again in February 2020.  I just left Thailand before the flights were stopped.

  2. I was issued a Non O-A visa with one year validity valid upto 05th October 2020.  This was issued by a Royal Thai Consulate outside Thailand.  It is very unlikely that i will be able to travel to Thailand before this date.  I had sent in a mail to the issuing Consulate seeking a clarification as to whether the validity of this visa will be extended.  Of course till now, there has been no response from them.

What is the general opinion of our learned members?  Are there any real chances of Thai Immigration Authorities doing anything about this?  I am sure there will be many more like me.  All of us have taken lot of efforts and pain to submit required documents, obtain insurance etc. for getting this visa.  If not extended, the entire efforts will go futile and we all need to start all over again.  This is just punishing us for no fault of ours and against normal natural justice.

That should not be required. Any police station can do the finger prints. They do the finger prints to apply for a police clearance certificate by mail.

You mean to say that I can do it at Pattaya police station near Central Festival? If so, why would the official at jomtein immigration tell me that I need to go to Bangkok or Chonburi? Any light on that?

  4. I had extended my O-A retirement for two years already. The current one is expiring on 31 July 2019. I went to Jomtein Immigration on 02 July 2019 with all the relevant papers. After almost an hour of waiting, the IO looked at all papers and told me everything is perfect but you need finger printing to be done. I informed him that upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport on 01 July, my finger prints were taken. He took me to some senior official inside a room wherein I was informed that certain nationalities (I hold an Indian Passport) need their finger prints to be taken by immigration and that cannot be done at Jomtein. I need to go to Bangkok (or Chonburi about which they were not too sure whether it can be done there or not). Anyone have heard of this new requirement? Anyone has information whether this can be done at Chonburi (as i prefer to go there rather than go to BKK).?  Thanks a million in advance.

  5. I have some peculiar issues with regard to my Retirement Extension. Any expert advice will be much appreciated. Thanks a million in advance.

On 6th May 2015, I obtained a Non-imm O visa in my country with single entry by paying 2200 baht. This is after submitting all bank details and police clearance certificate and medical certificates. I landed in Thailand on 09th June 2015. I went to Jomtien Immigration Office on 10th June 2015 and sought retirement extension based on funds in the Bank. I submitted all the documents including the latest bank statement. They told me that you need to come only one week before the visa expires i.e. by 01st September 2015 only. I needed to travel out of Thailand and hence i could not complete the process.

Again on 08th September 2015 I applied for Non-imm O-A visa in my home country with all the necessary documents once again. This time i asked and was given one year multiple entry O-A valid till 07th september 2016. (the visa says to enter before 07th September 2016). This costed me about 5500 baht.

From September 2015 till now i entered and exited Thailand few times. I needed to do this as I have sick parents to take care of in my Home country.

    Now my questions are:

Right now I am in Thailand with permission to remain here till 12th June 2017. If i go to Jomtien immigration and seek extension based on Retirement (all other conditions being met properly such as funds in the Bank etc.) are they bound to do it? or will they again tell me come nearer to the expiry date i.e. 12th June 2017. This is not going to work out for me as I may be required to travel anytime.

Alternately Can I seek multiple entry Re-Entry permit? From what i could understand, Re-Entry permit can be issued only when there is a valid extension in my passport based on Retirement. Am i right here or Am I missing something?

Second question is, if they do not give me the above, Can i enter Thailand exactly on 07th September 2016 (the visa clearly says enter before 07th September 2016? I have some issues and cannot land a day before that. Of course i am going to try landing on 06th September 2016 if that is possible. Is it too risky? Am i cutting it too fine? Can they technically refuse entry?

Third, even if I land on 06th September 2016 with a permission to remain here till 05th September 2017, if the immigration refuses to give me extension based on retirement and tells me that I need to visit them only closer to the date of expiry, can i get a Re-entry permit valid till say 05th September 2017. I am confused.

  6. Hi all,

I just got my Non Immigrant O-A visa issued. the visa states enter before 07th sept 2016 with multiple entries marked as M.

    This means that

I can enter and exit as many times as I want within this one year period subject to the condition that each stay does not exceed 90 days. (unless i get this extended for one year as retirement extension).

I do not need any re-entry permit as long as i enter again before 07th sept 2016

if i stay less than 90 days in one stretch, i do not need any kind of 90 day reporting.

is there anything else i need to do? i intend making few visits each stretching for about sixty to eighty days and get my retirement extension only at the last entry. is that the best way to go about.

thanks a million in advance to all the BM

    regards
