  1. My first post for help on here. I did scan through some existing threads to see if I could find an answer, but there are so many and I don't have all day to spend, so if this has been covered already I apologise. If that is the case perhaps someone would be kind enough to provide me with a link. Thank you in advance.

My son arrives 03 November 2015, he will (plans to) enter Thailand on a visa on arrival basis. His return flight is booked for 6 months later (1st May 16). He is initially visiting with me, but will leave Thailand before the expiry of his visa. He will be visiting Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Malaysia (possibly Singapore too). He will come back to Thailand a few times, each time by air for a 30 day VOA (except maybe by land from Laos for a 14 day visa).

My questions are, when he first arrives, will they question his 6 month until return flight, will they demand proof that he does not intend staying in Thailand the entire 6 months, what form should this proof be?

He is not keen to plan and book the whole of his trip, but rather wants to just go as and when he feels it's time (within the constraints of visa rules for each nation).

I think the fact that I live here (based on marriage) the past 6 years, means he would qualify for a Non-imm O visa from UK to visit family, but whilst that would certainly be the best way as far as I can see, he does not want that additional expense, being 24 and travelling on a tight budget.

Any advice or suggestions would be most welcome, thank you.

  2. Report on the flight http://avherald.com/h?article=483fc32e

Hard to believe this airline is still in existence with their 1-2-Go debacle in Phuket. Couldn't pay me to get on one of their aircraft.

    "Well used" aircraft http://www.airfleets.net/ageflotte/Orient%20Thai%20Airlines.htm

I couldn't agree more. That company utilise nothing but flying coffins. Anyone who flies with them needs their head examining in my opinion.

It wasn't that jumbo that was parked at Udon for years was it ??? or similar aircraft.

The Jumbo is still in Udon, they've just moved it off the tarmac into a jungle clearing, you can still see it on take off/landing. That is an old 1-2-Go machine... story here http://www.i-nomad.net/2010/07/plane-for-sale.html

  3. This means that I have to change from CTH to the "f**king" terrible service of True again ??? The only thing where True good for is, are troubles.

I got rid of True last year when they lost the EPL and I got CTH at half the price of True with loads more HD channels for football but haven't seen anything about them having any W.Cup games. Any one know if I will be able to catch any games on CTH plz?

  4. Hi

    Regarding the Kor Ror 2

PoorSucker, Thanks for sharing your knowledge.. perhaps you can expand on this for me.....

I have a copy of my Kor Ror 2 (An original from the Amphur), but I got married back in March (so already 7 months+) but have not converted my visa - in fact I went back to UK in September and got a new 1 year Non-Im "O" so I'm good until about Dec next year, I actually enjoy the 3 monthly visa runs, use them as an excuse for a mini holiday... Siem Reap next time

However, there will no doubt come a time when I want to convert and not have to leave Thailand every 3 months and possibly renew/extend my visa without going back to the UK, so.....

Where you state the Kor Ror 2 copy must be not more than 6 months old, are you saying that after 6 months I can no longer convert my visa? how would they know how old my copy is, or when I got it?

I used to live on, and got married on Samui, but have since left Samui and live in Udon, would I have to make the trip all the way to the Samui amphur just to get a more recent copy of exactly the same document I already have?

I hope you (or someone) can help, many thanks :jap:

Yes you can convert to a non-O based on marriage for 2000 baht.

  5. Jellyfish are always around. I have been stung three times so far....Hongkong, Thailand and Malaysia. Evidently, not by the Box. It is incredibly painful - and yes, vinegar or urine does alleviate the pain. The scars hang around for at least 2 months, too.

I notice at this time of year in Hua Hin, there are plenty of signs around advising against swimming given the jellyfish threat. That keeps me out of the water. But a big clue to the presence of jellyfish? You'll see their bodies washed ashore. So that's a good sign they're out and about and close to shore.

I was walking Lipa Noi beach the other day, only about 1.5K and I counted at least 20 large beached jellyfish and numerous small ones, even a puffer fish
