I was so happy to put my son in that private school. From 2-17 years. Now 3 he is in Thai program about 5k a month includes his meals and snacks. I pay an extra 3k for Bus pickup and delivery. Plus 1k for the extra hour of tutoring since his class lets out early than the older kids.

If and when you visit that established school you will be most thankful for me steering you there

Sadit School. I would pay 50k a month for a preschool program comparable to there's in Santa Monica, California USA.

If you would like to talk about anything PM us.

    Hi,

What is the name of the school and is it Thai or bi lingual ? Thanks for your help.

    Thanks

    Patrick

  2. What area are you looking at...there's a couple out my way near Wat Satuwas...that would be down soi Nern Plub Wan about 4 km from Sukhumvit. One is called German Kindergarden and the other called Butterfly Nursery on soi Nongprue just south of soi Siam Country Club. There is also the Baby Bee nursery on the northside of Pattaya Nua Road between Sukhumvit and 3rd Road.

I don't have any kids so don't know the quality or pricing of these places but just see them as they're on my regular driving routes and provide this for informational purposes only.

Thanks for your help, I'll google those names and see if I can get some detail on pricing / times etc.

    Thanks for your help.

    Patrick

  3. Hi,

Can I pick your collective brains. I have a 4 year old daughter and she is currently in a Pay-as-you-go nursery in Bangkok ( THB800 per day ). She can go any number of days per week. Typically it's 2 or 3. Is there a similar type of nursery / kindergarten in the Pattaya or Jomtien area. I've seen some online that seem to be full time only at 60k plus per term. Looking for somewhere a bit more wallet friendly.

    Thanks

    Pat

  4. Crazy Brit. You don't visit a foreign country, rent a car, and drive with reckless abandon. You don't know the roads and you are a guest.

I hope they lock up Mr. Benjamin in a Thai prison cell for a few years and not just let him go back to the island after paying off the officer's family.

My condolences to Police Lance Corporal Wiroon's family and friends. Terrible that this happens at the end of the Songkran holiday.

What a stupid comment ! What has his nationality got to do with it ??? I take it that since you're so upset about reckless driving that you'll be making 300 plus posts condemning the " CrazyThais ? that killed other Thais with bad driving during Songkran ??? No, didn't think so. Just another Thai ass kisser thinking that you'll be better thought of , grow up man.

  5. Sadly we are witnessing Darwinism in action!!

Dear PM if you really cared about your people (as you claim) please real driving tests compulsory before people are allowed on the road!!

It's not so much a driving competence issue. Throwing a bucket of water at someone on a scooter washes even more oil onto the roads. Add to this the poor driving skills you refer to and bottles of cheap Thai whiskey and the pick up trucks full of revellers and their barrels of water are absolutely rolling the dice. 200 down is shocking after 4 days. Terrible waste of life, year after year.

  6. I have done the border trip to many times, so the immigration computer blocked my entry I was told.

Why not go to Immigration at Chaeng Whattana ? I went today, took 90 mins start to finish, costs 1900 THB and you'll get 30 day extension easily, unless theres a problem with your passport. Very efficient and saves hours on land crossings and the cost of flying in and out. Can't do back to back but def a good thing.

  7. Yeah yeah, consumerism and the want to have the latest gadget etc drives these purchases. It doesn't make the kid the offspring of a bad parent though, just because he had a nice phone.

Ask yourself what the must have thing was for you & your mates at school? Mobile phones didn't exist in my school days, the latest trainers / sports shoes or branded clothing was what had to be had. Being competitive with your peers whether material things or sport is a part of growing up. Never going to stop, just the dynamic will change. As we get older we learn to care and worry about different things and learn to prioritize what is important. A good upbringing instills values, decency and compassion upon children and young adults. It is something that has to be taught, nurtured and learned over time.

It is unwarranted putting the blame on the parents for providing, or the kid for having the phone. It is however, piss poor parenting that has created the type of people that took it upon themselves to take the kids phone. Large numbers of selfish & greedy shit's populate the world and unfortunately are allowed to breed. The only sense these types have is one of entitlement. They don't value anything or anyone and just do and take what they want.

Unfortunately it is a trend that is likely to continue. We live in a society where there are little or no consequences for the perpetrators - further bolstered by law enforcement that really isn't interested in protecting or improving the system.

    The end.

    Merry Christmas all.

Hope the kid gets a new phone.

Being competitive about material things is not natural it's social engineering which needs to be reversed.

    Good luck with that.

  8. Thailand does not seem to be able to stay out of world news and NOT in a good light.

This, along with Hitler, along with murders just keeps on coming.

And for some reason little to no damage control at all.

You would think there would be an official statement from authorities to investigate the reports or issue a directive to stop.facepalm.gif

Generally speaking, the Thais really don't care what foreigners think.

    Congratulations "Mr Johnson"

Your post is the most applicable here amongst the 70+ replies as being the post at the end of the day, which really sums the whole topic up..........Guys, NOTHING will change now or in the future. I quite like this forum, love Thailand, love my Thai family, have been here a long time, but have a long time back understood......This is Thailand......It is for the Thai's and all others setting foot on this land are here for one purpose and one purpose only!

That is to bring in your money and use as much of it as you can for the benefit of Thailand and their people.....

They care about nothing else. Learn this and learn it well and you will not be frustrated here.

How long you have been here is irrelevant, how much you love Thailand has got nothing to do with it, I've been here since the 80's but that has no bearing on this issue. People accept that the Thais are only interesting in taking money from you but even in Pat Pong you get something back. people are right to feel frustrated and concerned that the law enforcement officers can stop travellers in a taxi and take money from them or demand a urine test is beyond acceptable, it's theft, harassment and criminal. These recent events are a dramatic upswing in the usual " get money off the faring" tactics which you don't seem to have grasped. The fact that you consider this acceptable because , as you want us all to know, you've been here a long time makes this even more sadder, I pity you but will still urge you to consider how awful it is to see pensioners or teenagers on a dream trip to Asia being robbed by those that are here to protect them. Shame on them and shame on anybody that accepts that.

  9. ...although due to their unofficial nature these reports remain unverifiable.

Like most of the TV fear-mongering messages.

    bat.jpg

They may want to justify themselves by catching a Farang with a big bag of Gear rather than give up the tea money

Or generate more clicks on TV and stir-up the "tea money" soap opera drama queens.

Maybe the police have some sort of special radar that can pick out the gormless twits.

So when was the last time you lived or walked and stayed in Asok?whistling.gif

I walk down Asoke and Sukhumvit most days. I live in Thong Lor and my daughter goes to nursery nearby. I have yet to be stopped and searched but can see a massive increase in Police activity. Go to a money changer and when you turn around a cop is staring at you, same when you use an ATM. At 4pm try and count the police on the pavement on the corner of Asoke and Sukhumvit on the Soi 23 side, you'll lose count at 30ish . Many stories in the pubs and bars in that area of people being pulled off bikes and out of taxis by the cops, all ages but all farangs, some are pensioners. Keep this up Bangkok and amongst other reasons you'll just push all those tourist £'s and $'s into the waiting grateful arms of Cambodia and Vietnam.

  10. The moral of the story is get rid of the LB's on Soi 6! There seem to me more and more of them. Move them all to 6/1 ghetto or,even better, to a concentration camp somwhere in Issan.....

I'm just guessing here, but I think any reference to putting anyone in a concentration camp no matter what nationality you are, is quite politically incorrect!

I would think the moral of the story here is to get rid of the euro-trash pandering about on Soi 6!

You criticise someone for being politically incorrect and then use a phrase like Euro trash, not so clever are you mate.

  11. how did 130,000 spectators fit in when the facility has to be expendede to accommodate 100,000???

I imagine that you can apply the same economics as when they ask " What is the capacity of a Philipinne bus or Indian train ? " the answer is " 1 more ". Extra revenue v health and safety / comfort, there's only one winner in Asia isn't there. Hope this works and develops properly. Thailand has a great opportunity here, will they blow it ?

  12. how convienent that a piece of wood was nearby.and look at the smirk on the coppers face as he squeezes his arm.

You seem to have missed the expression on the Brit's face. Obviously playing it for all it's worth. And undoubtedly he played arrogant Khun Farang when approached by the attendant. He certainly is to be congratulated on saving the Baht 40.

Stupid Brit trying to get away without paying. Probably did not feel he had too as it was just a short stop.

But of course the violence was over the top but some foreigners think they can get away with anything.

Your reference to his nationality is stupid and not relevant to the story at all. Then you go a level lower in stupidity with " some foreigners think they can get away with anything " How stupid a comment is that ???!!!! He is not a criminal trying to get away with anything at all. He's being scammed and has objected, then the coward assaults him, a man of 70 , with a piece of wood . He's a coward. Please reply with more stupidity.

  13. I was more interested in answering the request for helpful information than getting the name of the visa right.

The right name must be used otherwise confusion is generated.

I've been living in Asia since 1989 and generally stay off forums like this as they seem to be populated by people that have nothing better to do than wait for a post to come in and pounce on any slight errors and then offer everybody the benefit of their wisdom. They usually give themselves Father Time like names or monikers and it seems important to them that the world can see that they've made over 3000 posts ( most of them worthless) and have by default generated a "rank' of Expert, Platinum etc. Hua Hin, Phuket, Philippines, Malaysia, HK - these people are everywhere. The information that I provide was fine for answering the question or request and wouldn't have caused any confusion whatsoever on visiting the Thai Consulate, and if it did then the Consulate staff would have clarified things easy enough because guess what - Thats what Consulate staff do. This is my 4 th post, perhaps one day I'll be a 3000 + post expert and get a forum black belt.

  14. I was in the UK during August and travelled to the Thai Consulate in Hull and got my 6 month tourist visa. It has a date of issue stamp of August 29 but is activated on landing here which I did on September 12th, It entitles you to 60 days on arrival, you must then leave and re enter a further 2 times, getting 60 days upon each re entry, thus giving you 6 months. The 3rd re entry must be done before the expiry of 6 months from when the visa was issued, in my case September 29 ( must do 3rd entry before Jan 29 ). The cost is £75 plus a £10 personal visit fee and takes 10 minutes, no appointment is necessary. The Consulate is located on a retail park and is surrounded by car dealerships. Just look for the Thai flag flying on a post. Very straight forward but obviously has a stamp on the visa that says " not permitted to work "

That is known as a tourist visa with 3 entries rather than a 6 month tourist visa. It can get you up to 9 months in LOS with extensions. A 2 entry TV with extensions may get you up to 6 months.

I was more interested in answering the request for helpful information than getting the name of the visa right.
