1. If married the best option is extension of stay for one year at a time from Immigration. No travel out of Thailand required but need 400k or 40k income.

The multi entry visa is valid for one year and each entry gets a 90 day stay so if a new entry the day before it expires almost 15 months using same visa. But you have to leave country every 90 days or less.

    thanks lopburi,

    400k = about 13k us/aus, or 40k = 1.3k, right?

so how does one prove a regular income?

i can see the 400k in an account idea, but how do i show 40k / mth when its up to me how much i withdraw?

what i want do avoid is cutting down the rubber trees and rather, just tap them for rubber/cash and spend it here, if you know what i mean.

    thanks again.

  2. If married a multi entry non immigrant 'o' visa is available from KUALA LUMPER with 100,000 baht in bank account. You would have to do a border run every 90 days, but that visa would give you about 15 months in Thailand.

    thanks steve

i have a long term/trustworthy 'fiancee', so going the next step wouldnt be so hard.

bank deposits would be ok as well.

border runs every 3 months ... the price we pay,eh!?*

does the 15 mths include extensions ... how does it work?

  3. just wondering what the other options are, besides a tourist visa, for staying on in thailand.

    my situation is...

my investments cover my costs, so i dont have to work while im here.

and ive worn out my 'tourist visa' welcome so ill need another kind of visa.

any advice on the easiest/cheapest way to remain here would be much appreciated.

    cheers.

  4.
To the OP...May I asked how many tourist visas you had in your passport? and had you previously been issued them all from Vientianne?

Thanks

i had many years of tourist visas in my passport. [from laos, kl, aus,]

i had broken them up with trips home but basically have been here on a tourist visa without working,

using the 6 month x2 visa cycle.

ive been pretty lucky up till now but as said, havent been working, so not acting outside the rules.

only spending my money here to help the thai economy.

  5. recently returned from laos [20 sept 10] with a x2 free visa.

    in a nutcase...

flew from phuket to udon thani. [700b]

    train to non khai. [10b]

bus over bridge to immigration. [20b]

    minivan to vientienne. [200b]

bicycle to thai immigration - passport in. [50b]

minivan to thai immigration to pickup passport next day then onto the bridge. [200b]

bus over the bridge then bus to udon thani.[20b / 70b]

    flew back to phuket. [700b]

everything went smoothly tho i did get a red stamp next to my visa saying..

'traveled to thailand many times on a tourist visa... may be denied in the future.'

if you need more info, pm me.

    hope this helps.

    cheers
