  1. Why not use Superrich or Siamexchange downtown, you get better rates.

If they will exchange to Gb Pounds there and then I have no problems where I go.

Could you tell me where Superrich and/or Siam Exchange are located? I've never used them before. I don't live in Bangkok and will only be there a couple days prior to my flight.

  2. I'm travelling back to the UK in the next couple of weeks.

I'm sorry if this has been covered but I can't find the thread/post that specifically covers Thai Baht to GB pounds.

Can I change Thai Baht to GB Pounds at a money changer in Suvanabhumi Airport? And, is there a limit to how much can be changed?

Or, can I change at a bank there and then without having to order money? I'm not sure how much I will want to exchange until a day or so before travelling.

In England, when changing GB Pounds to Thai Baht, you have to order a few days in advance and the exchange rate is diabolical.

  3. Not your question and my business, you say she was born in Thailand (but both parents not Thai), but I wonder whether she is entitled to have a Thai passport since she was born on Thai soil?

If yes, then surely for the long-term this would be worth pursuing. Just a thought.

    And in response to Dindong

My daughters birth certificate states, in the box declaring nationality, that she is "Non-Thai".

When we registered her birth we (the parents) were required to show proof of ID and in our case ment showing are passports. Passport details including our nationalities were entered onto the birth certificate She isn't entitled to anything that a normal Thai national is, including but not limited to a Thai pasport or ID card.

    Regards.

  4. Thanks for replies. I did try to go to immigration to get clarification but they are currently swamped with hundreds of burmese making visa applicants everyday. And I didn't want to leave it to late.

Status: I am legally working here with a NON-B and work permit. I do have a re-entry stamp in my passport, which I always obtain at the same time as I renew my extension of stay. My employer has supplied all the documents that, as far as I'm aware, I need to apply for a visa at the Thai Consulate in the UK for my daughter to accompany me on our return.

    Regards.

  5. My daughter was born in Thailand last year. Her parents aren't Thai, father is English and mother is Fillopina, so my daughter is not a Thai national. My daughters British passport has now arrived and we intend to fly back to the UK early next month.

Do I need to obtain a visa for our daughter before she can leave?

Or, can we arrive at the airport to leave Thailand, with just her Thai birth certificate and British passport, without obtaining a visa?

This is my daughters first trip outside Thailand since her birth. I do know that as a foreign national she will need a visa to re-enter Thailand.

    Regards.

  7. Hi Richard, hope you eventually sell your RR.

A quick question though, How did you register for Talarod, I don't seem to be able to. Everytime I input my details to register the site tells me to input my name, which I do, and keep doing but it keeps telling me to put it in. Is there something I'm missing?

  8. I have 2 Tata Xenons, the diesel in DLS trim and the CNG in DLE trim.

In standard form the Xenon DLE (trim level) CNG will only cover around 200kms with the 2 underbody CNG factory fitted tanks. To give the Xenon CNG more range you will need to have a third tank fitted in the truck bed. The third tank will more than double the range to around 450Kms. The third tank is about 30,000 baht!

Total price including a third tank will be nearly 550,000 baht not 519,000 Baht

Your next issue will be refuelling.

Hatyai to Chang Mai isn't a problem but straying off the beaten track is. Surat-Thani to Phuket can't be done, there is a CNG station near the airport on the edge of Surat but nothing from there to Phuket and at just over 500kms round trip it can't be done.

For me, regular trips south to Hatyai or north to Bangkok in the Xenon CNG are stupidly cheap!!

  9. Some one I got to know whilst here in Thailand mentioned, during normal conversation, how they were managing to support themselves when in Thailand, claiming benefits in the UK and making frequent trips back and forth when it was necessary for them to do whatever they needed to do to ensure they still received their benefits.

A debate ensued when I made my stance on the subject very clear and them justifying why they were doing it. No matter what they said in defence of their actions I couldn't accept what they were doing and the next day I telephoned and emailed the DWP. A few days later I met the same individual again and before we'd exchanged hellos I told them what I had done. After a few expletives, they left and I haven't seen them again.

I'd do it again without hesitation!

  10. I had a similar situation about 6 years ago.

I sold a Yamaha Nouvo MX to a Thai lad, 2 years later I received a letter detailing the same as yours. Lucky for me the lads family lived quite close so I dropped in on his families door step with a Thai friend to help explain and thankfully it was all resolved quickly.

Since then any bike that I or my girlfriend have sold one of us has accompanied the buyer to the local transport office to hand in the book and all paperwork at the same time as the bike is handed over to the new owner. Actually, on one occasion last year I sold a bike, an Airblade, on a Saturday and they wanted to take it there and then so we used a local dealer to handle the transfer, that cost us 1,000 baht as a 'handling fee'.

Our advice to other bike or car sellers for that matter is; never, ever, leave it to the other party to get the paperwork and vehicle registration sorted by themsleves

And, as for buyers not having the correct paperwork to be able to purchase or register a bike, don't bother buying until you do, and rent in the meantime.

My girlfriend is currently selling a Honda PCX and she refused to sell it to one person last Friday because they don't have what's required by our local transport office to register the bike. The individual wasn't particularly happy and was waving the money in her face - she adamantly stated 'NO PAPERWORK, NO BIKE' and left them at the office.

I hope it all gets sorted Khundan, without any further repercussions.

  11. Thank you to all those that have made enquiries about the Honda PCX so far.

We are having some problems with Hotmail and are unable to respond to you at present. We will respond to your enquiries as soon as possible.

In the mean time we have uploaded some pics of the bike.

We and the bike are based in Surat Thani town.

The reason the bike is being sold is that Melody is now pregnant and doesn't feel safe or comfortable riding it any more. The PCX will be sorely missed.

    Many thanks,

    Kingsley and Melody.

  12. I was in Krabi a couple of weeks ago and they were doing some filming and I saw that bike in the flesh. The picture loshonda posted is not the same as the 2 page magazine spread Richard BKK has posted but loshonda's pic is identical, except for the exhaust, to the bike they were using in the filming. And the pictures, although a little small, he posted on the thread about the Honda CBR150 released 30th October is certainly the same bike no doubt about it, they are the same riders.. I spoke to an English guy who was part of the Honda test team accompanying the bike and he said they would finish the shoot in Phuket. The chap said it was the new CBR150 - he couldn't deny it as it was written on the bike. He did mention that there would be a new CBR250 but it would be shown at the Milan bike show in November and then on sale a few weeks later. I was trying to take pics with my phone but security was really tight.
