  1. The sheer stupidity of these cretinous people is utterly immeasurable. In the equation of life that philosophers the world over have tried to factor over the millennia I doubt any would or could possibly believe there could be a people so devoid of intelligence, logic and common sense as the Thai.

I actually believe microbes have more intelligence.

Logging, monitoring and controlling an annual transient population of between 16 - 20 million foreigners by a country that has yet to implement a single functioning controlled pedestrian crossing anywhere in its land?

Dictionaries will need amendment in defining degrees of imbecility courtesy of the Thai.

  3. Quite right. He is a student and doubtless will now have to fund another flight including his prolonged stay. There is not a shred of evidence to suggest he fled the island. He evidently was departing with his brother in line with their itinerary and would have been oblivious of the incident until advised later by the police. What could he do if he was running out of money and had no funds to pay for another ticket? What point would there be in remaining? Why would it be cowardice to leave?

I understand the Brit embassy has a representative on the island. This is good news for Ware who increasingly is being fitted up by that idiot Colonel who insists on making moronic speculative comments in the absence of any evidence.

  4. I see no mention of the Boiler Room gangs involving well known Americans and Brits who have stolen millions and are currently paying off a police general and an army general, reputedly a million $'US a month. But of course since the victims are foreigners abroad it isn't really a crime.

    Dreadful country, dreadful hypocrites.

  5. I take your point. Because the HO may ask for evidence it doesn't preclude you from providing evidence in the form you choose that is manifestly within the law. Simply complete the form as appropriate, or not, and enclose the passports with a covering letter stating that as evidenced by her passports she has not been absent for more than two years and therefore meets the requirements under the rules. Providing further evidence of residence eg utilities, bank statements etc is otiose.

If they decline to issue a replacement BRP complain and plague them.

  6. ILR only lapses if one is out of the country for more than two years. A travel document will confirm this either way. Renewing a BRP is simple and obtained by production of the travel history. If travel documents are mislaid then other evidence may be required.

Every time an ILR national returns to the UK they receive an open date stamp. If an immigration officer can't locate a date stamp within two years of a departure then he will enquire further. If an open date stamp is found to be endorsed within two years in the passport and evidence of the grant of ILR has been produced then the person will be admitted without further ado,

  7. Reading the utter nonsense here one might be confused as to why the West is inundated by migrants seeking economic betterment when in fact all they need to do is simply besiege Thailand , a country where anyone can earn a salary exceeding the minimum wage of the UK, US etc.

And those statistics produced by the international agencies, CIA, ASEAN, etc are all completely wrong when they report the average annual wage is only around $9,500 US.

The true picture is of course as portrayed by a few frazzled idiots posting out of their arse claiming the average Thai earns at least between $15,0000 and 20,000 annually.

Whatever you guys are drinking, I'd like some of it..

  8. On checking the current US embassy jobs website I see they are advertising for warehouse clerks and chauffeurs among myriad other categories both in Bangkok and Chiang Mai offering annual salaries of 240,000 bt or thereabouts.

These jobs are of course much sought after and competition will be fierce. Proves my point I think.

I shall await responses, hopefully rather more informed than the arse chatter up until now.

  9. Well, apart from speaking to all my contacts etc I'm not sure what I can add to my posts. The local embassies are quite a good guide in reflecting salaries when they advertise for locally engaged staff. The rate for clerical assistants at full time rates in the visa sections, management office or in the consular section etc in the Aussie, Brit and US embassies all offer salaries around the 28 - 40,000,per month mark. The Brit embassy were seeking a full time visa officer in 2013 and were offering a salary of. 72,000 Bt.per month. Given a home based civil servant on a posting would receive a salary with allowances of up to three times that figure and would also receive free housing etc, I rather think the perspective has been established.

Quite why a Bangkok based company would wish to pay an unqualified Thai person who has not completed tertiary education 40,000 bt per month is really quite incomprehensible and certainly without precedent in my experience and those of others.

The notion that my figures are not valid, simply because someone has " challenged " them, perhaps speaks fpr itself .

  10. The lower ranking civil servant salary here in Thailand ranges between 10 - 13,000 per month including their cost of living allowance. Retail staff in department stores and catering wait staff seem to be averaging between 9 - 12,000 per month. Hairdressing salon staff get around 12,000 per month but maybe more with commission as indeed do other service staff.

Salaries of university staff lecturers are in the order of up to 35,000 per month including housing allowance, teachers less.

Generally, an income of 25,000 per month would be viewed as a reasonable median salary but it's probably less when one considers the numbers employed in blue collar, manual and lower ranked office staff etc.

Folk claiming they know of unqualified office staff receiving 35,000 per month are talking gibberish which of course is not unusual here.

  11. I suspect it was a Code 3 reported landing. Unbelievably, some idiot immigration officers still do this with visa holders who have troubled them. The problem these days is the reservoir of experience, knowledge and understanding is getting more shallow by the year. There is no means by which an immigration officer can curtail or shorten a visa other than outright refusal. The slip given to the visa holder was probably an IS 81 whilst the officer wandered off to check out the VAF details.

Immigration staff have little to do these days beyond endless scanning. Piddling about with genuine visitors they suspect are establishing a de facto clandestine residence is often just an excuse to get off the desk as a respite. Some even go so far as searching baggage to find that all too elusive evidence of working in breach but that is generally only in instances when " senior " immigration officers intimidate weak Chief Immigration Officers into authorising them.

In these sorts of cases I always advise folk to stand their ground and seek confirmation from the Chief Immigration Officer on floor duty that what the immigration officer has said is correct, within the rules and current policy. Taking names or warrant numbers is crucial if one wishes to pursue the matter as a written complaint.

I omitted to mention the endorsement given by the immigration officer is unlawful and without any relevance. However, if the holder wishes to leave and then return she should produce a letter from her legal rep stating that if she is to be detained they should be contacted immediately. I assume that the immigration officer has not endorsed the extant visa with a cancellation stamp.
