  1. Well, unless its changed in the past two years, there as a room on the Thailand side where you stood in line to be processed.

Get processed out of Thailand, and walk outside, and over the " No-mans land section " to the line at the immigration in Cambodia. Get processed and walk outside to take your choice of taxis etc.

  2. Siem Reap to the border..... Taxi which was around $40.00 from memory ( 2 years ago) , or by bus. I have done it both ways.....

Depends if its a good bus, or a back packer bus ... Back packer bus stops everywhere picking up the back packers and they even have people sitting in the aisles.

I hope to get to Siem Reap in a month or two, and will use a taxi to and from the border to Siem Reap.

  3. I used to visit Thailand on a regular basis for business from 2002 to 2008.

Used to amaze me about the numbers of people sitting in the back on the pick ups.

I even saw a girl dancing on the back gate of a " pick up " bus once. We were on the way back from the Eastern Seaboard Estate, and were doing about 120 km/hour or so, and this girl was dancing . Hate to see what would have happened if the hinges and straps broke.

  4. Got to disagree with you over the French TGV. Japan has the best technology and has an amazing record on safety and schedules.

I have been in Korea on the KTX, which are modelled on the French made high speed trains. Korea is now producing its own, but, the first high speed trains were French built. The KTX trains were much noisier to ride in, compared to the Japanese Shinkansen.

Used to live in Japan, and travelled extensively over Japan by rail. Even travelled Tokyo - Hiroshima in 4 hours (900 km ), and this was in the 90's. Did 2,000 km by train that day, and business as well. Tokyo-Hiroshima ( Shinkansen), Hiroshima - Kure ( local train)..Then returned to Tokyo that day.

BTW, I am Australian, and know that Australia will never have high speed rail.

  5. Totally agree with the comments. I used to use the old Don Muang airport, and really looked forward to the opening of the new one in October , 2006.

I came through there about a week after the new airport opened, and was amazed that they even considered opening it when they did.

Since then, I have come through there about 25 times . The lighting has improved in the check in areas. Initially, the girls in the THAI check in were almost working in the dark.

However , agree with you that the air condtioning is far too hot. Too far to walk from the planes to immigration. Once you go out to the gate for boarding , there is nothing out there, should you desire to get something from a shop.

Why on earth, the designers and people responsible didn't look at SIngapore, Hong Kong and Incheon, for ideas is beyond me. Incheon is the best airport I used to go through.

Basically, this place is a shopping center where people park their planes to go shopping.
