Perhaps it is the extensive use of masks, particularly N95 masks, Thais have become accustomed to using over the many years of pollution here.
In a bizarre twist of fate, the terrible pollution in Thailand may have saved them from the onslaught of the pandemic!????

1669 is the emergency number for an ambulance.
Unfortunately the government has also Put the rescue foundations on lock down As well between 10pm~4am.
Normally they cover 90+% of the cases so I'm not sure how they will handle the workload. I suspect they will recind that order in the near future.

I think many scientists around the world are trying to understand how/why Thailand has not hD it's own pandemic a long time ago.
people said because if the heat bit then why did Singapore explode but not Thailand and also why now is Thailand finally becoming an epicenter even though it's getting hotter everyday.
I guess we'll find out one day but would be good to know why, now.
Could it be the normal heavy use of N95 masks for pollution that has stemmed the pandemic here?
Interested in other people's ideas.

Agreed, too early to say. Our school usually tells us of important changes 1 minute before the start of school so we'll have to wait until June 1st to answer. ????

I think Thailand has been lucky son far. I think it's very little to do with being efficient at dealing with this situation.
It could have easily gone the other way.
Seriously lucky actually.
If China had not closed its own borders and Thailand had not closed its borders (and offered free visas as they did) to China, we would be in the same situation as them now.
Pure luck.

There is one parked in Ekamai. I went to see them and how the camera/facial recognition worked. He couldn't get it to work. Didnt seem to know how?
He said he didn't like the BMW because it had no insurance! ????
Was worried about having an accident so they just park up in a small Soi for hours ????
Weren't interested in asking me anything ????

It's worth noting that staying indoors only reduces your air pollution by 50%. So indoors could still be 100 (I would guess a lot more because if the low quality aluminium doors and windows here allowing unrestricted air flow), which is still 4 times over what scientists say is an acceptable amount of 25 (magically the acceptable number for Thais is 50)
I work outside and wear a mask all
day. It's horrible and now I seem to be getting a skin problem because of it. The N95 mask I wear is filthy after a couple of days. None of my colleagues wear them and I see street vendors, police, etc without protection.
It seems that Thais aren't that bothered if there are no immediate effects, unfortunately they will suffer later in life (that could be tomorrow to 10 years down the track)
The worst part for me is seeing children playing outside sucking in all that pollution ☹️

7 hours ago, Thaiwrath said:
Because, if the chairman of the Anti-corruption and Misconduct committee was found to be corrupt, then Thailand would be a laughing stock AGAIN ! ????????????????
don't suppose you remember about 18 years ago the whole anti corruption committee were convicted for fraud of some sort but the judge then said let's not darken their years of good service to the country and let them all go! ????
never ending cycle

most of the doctors are the same!!!
Bangkok hospital surgeon for a hernia operation 400,000 Baht.
My friend at Chuoalongkorn told me to go there because it's the same doctor 140,000 baht.
I think the main difference would be the after care.

Last year a new labor law said that people here legally under existing work permits can volunteer without amending their work permit that was required in the past.
apart from that I have no other knowledge about other amendments but believe there were others. It should be on a thread here somewhere...

I went to the ancient city in Samut Prakan (which is privately owned) with my parents who were on holiday and when asking for tickets spoke Thai, the lady quickly asked do I work here and I replied yes and a Thai drivers license was enough to get me in at Thai prices. She then apologized and said my parents would have to pay tourist rates which I expected anyway.
All this was without me asking. it was a proactive gesture from staff there.
I was also very surprised to know that in NZ (and many western countries) there are also dual pricing in certain places. Ie: you must show a NZ passport/driving license or any form of ID including a bill from your house or rental (ie: overseas students etc. can also get local price).
I think there are examples of dual pricing in many countries and it is also random.
It does seem the government owned places in Thailand are the worst though and won't even accept residency papers from foreigners (or so I've heard) and yet others will accept a non~B passport and yet others need a work permit. All quite random.

What is this about if you stay away from home for less than 14 days you don't need to do it?
Is there a complete source of information for this somewhere?
Thank you in advance ????

I agree that KluayNumThai is not a good hospital! Search around for a better one.

about 20 times, never a problem but the swimming full face mask I bought leaked because the size was wrong, I ended up giving it away to someone with a smaller head :/
Apart from that I've never had a problem and found their service good and reliable. -
I give 500baht monthly to a very old couple who pick up mountains of trash on the converted bikes. They are about 70+
I feel so sorry for them, they seem to work hard, I found out the also support their grandchild who mum abandoned to them. No one helps them. They always rest near where i work in the evenings.
I do not give to beggars as I have heard of the same stories from many of my Thai friends (one of whom actually assists repatriating these beggars to their home country). The stories are true but do not apply to everyone but I do not know who is who so choose to give to people I know a little more like the 2 old people. -
Recently noticed a jelly like substance inside supposedly fresh cut pineapples.
Does anyone know what this might be? -
I bought a really nice set of cupboards and delivered with courtesy and on time and when I accidentally over ordered I sent a message and was called back within an hour (by an Indian chap). All very good service for me. Maybe Im just lucky.

Bangkok too, Ramkhamhaeng, first time in 15 years for me!
But no problem, they're just doing their job and were polite to me and even shook my hand goodbye with a smile.- 2

For the first time in 15 years a group of immigration and police came to my condo and asked all foreigners to produce passports. I did not have mine on me because the office lady was doing a new visa/WP for me that very day and next. I called her and she sent photos of my passport/visa/WP through LINE to him and he was satisfied (which surprised me).
Normally I carry a copy of Passport/Visa/Immigration card in my wallet but through it away since I was getting a new one that day. I also downsize it to fit in my wallet.
Congenial and shook my hand at the end to say thank you. (or to get my DNA!!!? lol) -
A driving licence doesn't show one's immigration status, which, in the current hysteria over the bombing suspects, might account for the tightening up.
However a Thai Driving License does show your passport number.
Brewster is correct.
Drivers licences don't show your current visa status which is what they are interested in.
When making a copy to carry with you make sure your current visa, departure card and 90 reporting stamp are all on the photocopy.
A photocopy IS acceptable and if they fine you then you should take it up with a higher authority or if you're out to make a statement refuse to pay and call a lawyer.
