  1. Ok, so for you is mandatory to work with Thai agencies, or you evaluate also foreign agencies?

    I think you already know that for a platform developed from the ground up there is a cost of tens of thousand's bucks, and this is not a guarantee of a better product...

  2. import java.util.Random;

    class PrintThis {

    public static void main(String... args) {

    System.out.println(randomString(-229985452) + ' ' + randomString(-147909649));

    }

    public static String randomString(int seed) {

    Random rand = new Random(seed);

    StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();

    for (int i = 0;; i++) {

    int n = rand.nextInt(27);

    if (n == 0) {

    break;

    }

    sb.append((char) ('`' + n));

    }

    return sb.toString();

    }

    }

    Your coding skills do not impress me.

    I can assure that I did not mean to impress anyone. And of course nobody with a little of brain would try to impress someone with a few lines of java core code. I've only found a little fun the not-so-random randomness of java...

    Cheers

  3. <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

    Today I finally started to use Trim on my SSD (Samsung 840 Evo), it was actually not that much work – I just had to change “default” to “discard” in the /etc/fstab

    I not really see any difference in speed, but seeing any speed increase would be difficult as a SSD is pretty fast no matter if you have Trim enabled or disabled.

    Today I also upgraded the kernel (kernel 3.12-5,302) of my complete new Fedora 20 install, I wanted to change the way I used my drives. I stopped using LVM and now use regular partitions with all the system stuff (boot, swap and system) on the SSD and /home on a regular 1TB WD hard drive.

    I also bought a new Samsung 840 Evo SSD for my notebook so I had also a 2.5” 750gb Hitachi hard drive over which I now use as a backup drive…

    It is not recommended that practice for most solid-state drives, because you could get performance hit.

    Instead you should use a weekly or monthly chron job.

    Ubuntu 14.04 has TRIM enabled out-of-the-box! Nice one, developers. AA

    Only Intel and Samsung ssd's have trim enabled by default. If your ssd is not of that brands and you are sure that your ssd support trim you can edit /etc/cron.weekly/fstrim adding this line at the end

    exec fstrim-all --no-model-check

    Cheers.

  4. import java.util.Random;

    class PrintThis {

    public static void main(String... args) {
    System.out.println(randomString(-229985452) + ' ' + randomString(-147909649));
    }

    public static String randomString(int seed) {
    Random rand = new Random(seed);
    StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder();
    for (int i = 0;; i++) {
    int n = rand.nextInt(27);
    if (n == 0) {
    break;
    }
    sb.append((char) ('`' + n));
    }
    return sb.toString();
    }
    }

  5. Well, the main difference between a five page static website and a full fledge ecommerce portal is mainly related to the server.

    This is because now is full of ready made open source and free (cms) solutions around there that can satisfy both your needs, but the server needs a completely different approach upon the case.

    While a simple static site with no money transaction can be fairly put in a shared hosting, an ecommerce should be hosted on a dedicated server with a minimum space and bandwith guaranted (or in a cloud hosting), with a ssl certification etc.

    So, in short, the prices for the implementing of the website (excluding the content upload and optimization, such as pics and texts, the maintaining etc.) can start from THB1500 for the canonical 5 static pages, and start from THB3000 for the ecommerce.

    In other words, you can greatly reduce the costs for the design of the site, but you must pay the premium for the functionality of e-commerce.
    Cheers.

  6. Again, sorry for my bad English, and I will try to explain a little better here following:

    - the furnitures are already in my possession, they are located in Italy, BUT transport was at my own cost
    - I gave the quotation of the furnitures only as reference, I did not intend in any way ask money to the partner for the furnitures
    - the two millions bath included not only the costs for the refurbishment of the building, but also the whole coverage for the start up

    Any way in the end I decided to open the business by myself, because I freed up some other investment, so forgive if my reply is not exhaustive.

  7. You have no money, no business plan, not enough experience in anything (apparently not even the horeca business) and ask on a public forum for peope who don't know you to invest THB 2 million with you.

    Sure, this sounds like a realistic request.

    Sent from my A 8+ using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

    I must have wrote my request in a very bad English.

    I wrote that I do not have a DETAILED business plan, because some decision (important) must be made together with the partner, so for now I can give only generic references.

    I wrote that the expected investment should be not over 2 million bath, not that I am asking for 2 million bath, why are you assuming that I have no money?

    And why are you assuming that I have no experience in anything?

    Anyway please don't waste your time replying if you are not interested.

    Thanks.

  8. Right. If you want to live in Thailand, you either have to be sent here by an international company or organisation, or have to bring a suitcase full of money. Do you have an idea how many hundreds of Westerners are in the same situation as you?

    Good luck teaching English, which most people in your situation end up doing, whether their English is good or not.

    ThaiVisa does have a teacher's forum.

    Please, forgive my dumbness but I don't understand the meaning of your answer....can you enlighten me starting from your personal experience in Thailand?

  9. After a (vain) long search for a job in Thailand, I've decided to open my own business, and so I'm looking for a business partner who can help me with some money and his active cooperation (it is very welcomed any experience in the horeca sector).

    I have a complete furniture (almost new and in perfect condition) of a Italian ristobar, including a stainless steel kitchen, two bar counters, several tables with chairs, professional coffee machine etc.

    My will is to open this activity in the city of Surin, for thai (young) customers.

    It is not possible for me now to give a detailed business plan, because many decisions have to be made together with the partner, but the expected investment should be not over 2 millions bath.

    From my side, as stated above, I can partecipate with the whole furniture set (with a value of around 4 millions bath), with some money and with some experience.

    Thanks.

    PS Sorry for my poor English but I am Italian mother tongue.

  10. I'm looking for a position as manager (or as assistant) for a small hotel or guesthouse possibly in Bangkok, but I can also relocate to other areas without problems.

    I'm offering my services for free (shadowing period required): there are no tricks and the reasons will be explained in detail.

    I'm an Italian expat, 44 years old, with Thai driver license (car and motorbike), computer literate (programming and web graphics skills), previous management experiences.

    Thanks in advance to everyone who will take in consideration my offer.

    Best regards.

  11. The change demands it? How about, as a general rule, an open mind from the beginning (ie before the facts are in)? (Or is that only appropriate when Thais aren't being accused?)

    No. I have the same open mind when reading about farang suicides.

    While we wait for the next news about this case, can you tell us your thoughts about it? It could be helpful for us to open up our minds....

  12. I'm an italian citizen, 41yo, currently resident in Italy but willing to return in Thailand (where I have been living for some years) in a few weeks.

    I can speak a decent English, and I would apply for a job as import export manager.

    I'm experienced in international trading which I practice since 2000, between China, Thailand and Italy.

    I can act also as a freelance (thai invoicing) but only with pre-signed contract of medium or long term.

    My job can include:

    - research of products

    - producers screening

    - providing of samples

    - checking of materials, products, documentation, certificates

    - management of freight by sea or air

    If anyone interested please send a pm, reply to this post or send an email.

    Thanks.
