You can try and avoid these smaller airlines, but even the bigger airlines have crashes from time to time. It's mostly about luck of the draw.
It is not luck of the draw as you point out. That would suggest any flight is a lottery. Fact is flying is statistically safer than driving, by a long shot.
Comparing smaller airlines to larger airlines is simplistic and downright ignorant. Larger airlines have more sophisticated maintenance and operational procedures for a start. Airlines in Laos have a chequered safety record, again statistically proven. Lao Airlines has not passed an IATA safety and operational audit and is therefore not a member of IATA. So saying that you basically have an equal chance of arriving at your destination safely be it with a large or small airline is ridiculous.
Most importantly, RIP to those souls on the flight.

Get the bloody Dutch in , then u not need a flood forecasting system . But no they been to Bulgaria to work together on watermanagement .
I think the problem is that the Dutch are not that keen on corruption .
LOL - they just contracted an unknown Turkish firm to develop and install a flight deck communication system on the Thai Airways fleet of aircraft , so absolutely nothing can surprise me about these nutters.

Do not normally post, particularly when I do not have sufficient knowledge of the subject matter.
Those that have no understanding of aircraft and procedures really should not be posting nonsense. Aside from looking idiotic, it is not fair to those with a fear of flying.
However, on this occasion, there are a few inappropriate comments that need to be straightened out as I consult to airline on flightdeck technology and have an airline background.
- CAT cannot be predicted, that it why it is termed clear air turbulence, weather conditions seem perfect
- Lufthansa are conducted tests for better weather foreacasting through satellite updates. Understand when they take off on a longhaul flight, that conditions can change enormously. They do call ahead for updates on severe conditions and may need to adjust their flight plan to avoid storms
- Pilots do not intentionally fly through storms
- "Etihad fly through storms as they will not use extra fuel ". Really, what a load of bullshit. Etihad is one of the safest airlines in the world. See above point. All airlines have fuel conservation programs as fuel represents 35-50% of all airline business costs. It is not unsafe and they do not fly through storms. They carry with them a list of alternate airports in the rare event that they need to make a seriously long diversion around a large storm front.
- Chek Lap Kok is a far easier approach than the old Kai Tak airport
Anyway, compare air accident statistics to those on the road. You are way safer up there than down here.

The breeder I bought my Siamese cat from is on a mission to save the species. The "original" Siamese cat referred to earlier in this post with a round face is disappearing. The "modern" Siamese being the cat in demand. He does not sell in shops and he has been known to give the cats away to good homes. He only charges to cover the cost of feeding them. As for me....my cat never goes outside so there is no status involved. I simply like Siamese cats.
So where can I buy a Siamese cat?

Oh dear, hand out more weapons. Really?
All countries with gun controls have seen immediate and drastic reductions in gun related deaths.
This makes for very sobering (and disturbing) reading http://www.gunviolencearchive.org/
12,000 deaths and 25,000 injuries in 2017 alone YTD with year on year increases is unimaginable in any civilised country.
