  1. Hua Hin has a Villa Market on Petchkasem Road. SIL works there and has been told they are also opening one in Cha am on the Narratip Road due November this year. Try the old shopping mall, some great finds in there at much cheaper prices than anywhere else

  2. Suggest you stay at Perfect Guest House (take a back room quieter) not too expensive and clean it is on Bus Plaza area near the beach, any bike taxi will know the area and hotel.

    Have a nice time.

Perfect House has nice enough rooms at a reasonable cost but two things, no parking and you are right in the middle of 'whore lane' Maybe ok for a single guy using buses if he wants his nightime activity but this soi should be avoided by any decent/family person. Try Niradun on Beach Road, few hundred Baht more but money well spent.

  3. Last week, Hua Hin kept 2 pictures of inside house and surprisingly gave back the one showing house number. Also requested that a neighbour went there in the afternoon with their ID and housebook, gave them a quick 2 minute interview. Apart from that same as above.....had letter from bank but refused copies of bank book pages, so another trip to bank for a printed statement of past three months.

  4. Could it be, that Cha-Am is worse?

Last time I was there, I was directed to Soi Bus-Station. Yes, there actually were a handful of Farang bars. Covering all those bars, I counted exactly 2 ladies that displayed "availability" that night.

    Wow !!

    Cheers.

Went there once and a few bars but as for fun, full of 40+ year old mongers posing as 'cashiers' that mostly smelt like dirty buffalos......most already had their long term cash cows so service not the best.....still if that sort of thing rocks your boat its ok

  5. A recent land puchase, there is a moobhan at the rear and 5 of the bordering houses have extended their properties to the boundry wall with roof overlapping my land. When rain falls the water comes to over a meter on my land. Any idea of process, visit Tessabhan, ask owners, is there criteria? Cant stay the way it is and much money has been spent on their extensions. I have noticed this is common for people to do and has anyone had to eother demolish their illegal extension or have their neigbours do it?

  6. Actually the regulations say no such thing - they say two months and that is what is required. Only for retirement do they say three months after first application. This has caused issues in the past but current policy seems to be officially two months for all applications for Thai wife extension at this point.

Thank you Lopburi for clarifying the fact as I knew it regarding "seasoning" of my funds.

It is at this point that I shall withdraw from this discussion but I will bookmark the page so that I can easily access all the relevant information for my next trip. I will also take on board your other suggestion to make it a more romantic getaway with my wife rather than the tedious ordeal it was previously.

Thank you to all the posters for their contributions
