Hi Everybody I don't Know if this counts as advertising it is not meant to be, but please check this out re high blood pressure, it will lead you thru links to the guy that helped me, I used to have High Blood Pressure I don't now and i do not take any drugs.

On a previous Posting on this site I seem to recall a comment re the foreign teaching ferternity here in Bangkok and it went somthing like this.
50% of all foreign Teachers do not hold a work Permit.
Out of the remaining 50% half of them hold a fake Diploma
Which leaves 25% legal.
This I would assume would lead to 75% of the current Teachers being relieved of their positions under the proposed new regulations. Again assuming this were the case Bangkok would only have a quatrer of the original foreign Teaching staff , hence a need for a large influx os suitable Teachers.
The mind now bogles as to where these Teachers are going to be recruted from as the salary being offered at this moment in time in most cases is a little on the low side.
And also there is the problem of job losses for the fake diploma venders as the demand for such items would slow down in the Ko-San Road, and let us not forget the blow to the economy as thousands of Good Teachers seek new horizens in lands not to far off.
The major casualty in this issue are the students themselves, perhaps the education ministry is about to shoot itself in the foot. as it stands the teaching of Eglish works fairly well, and any Teaching organization that is up to speed soon sorts out the good from the bad.

because someone has done some good things doesnt excuse his midemeaners. Thaksin is very corrupt, he uses his position to make himself more wealthy. Corruption is a huge problem in Thailand and if the prime minister is getting away with it and condoning it then this sends a terrible message and example to the rest of the country. This is why Thaksin has to go!
I have lived this life for 68 years and I yet to meet any person who is not corrupt to a greater or lesser degree, It is my belief that we are all currupt in one form or another.
Saying that, does it matter if the corruption is on a grand scale or a minor chord? after all corruption is corruption, and there is no country that is free from it.

Breconman, its views like that that allow for facisism, racism and ignorance to thrive. Everyone should 'interfer' with pollitics if you call 'comment and discourse' as interfering. Visitors should comment as should Thais overseas, expats in LoS, foreign political commentators and politicians and just about anyone else.
As Thailand is officially a democracy, and honours freedom of speech (I said officially!), there is no difference to immigrants in the west talking about their adoptive governments.
Also, I must have seen the comment "if you don't like it go home!" statement several throusand times over the years on this (and other) boards. It usually sums up the person that has no arguement to put forward and little understanding of the issue being talked about - to me a prime reason to avoid the keyboard and keep quiet.
"If you don't like the discussion, log off!" is my reply.

Why is it that those who are not Thai nationals but who live and maybe work in Thailand

as for big drug ring..haha i think a kilo of nepalese fetches about 100,000 baht if you sell it in small amounts on the street, but not 500,000 so i reckopn some old geezer in his sixties with a kilo of hash in his bag does not represent a threat to society and is not a big dealer.
The cops look better in the news when they increase the "Street Value" of the confiscated wares. They probably chopped 80% of the block off to sell to their friends later..corrupt as they are. (and i know plenty of them).
I cannot imagine this old guy being a slave trader..although the Arab connections may indicate me to be wrong, as most of the slave traders are Arabs or Russians.
It seems that many people don#t have a clue what goes on under their noses. If you don't know how they keep the girls from running away once in Germany, or wherever, then you need to get out on the street a bit more, and stop drinking exclusivrely with expats and eating beans and marmite from foodland.

Where have you guy's been for the last 2 years here is the tech lowdown on what happend at the Movies. Modern screens are manufactured by covering the surface with tiny optically correct glass beads cut for a certain frequencey.
This gives better light/color reflection of the image focused upon it, and all round clear vision, now here is the clever bit, the screen is also able to capture any digital camera switched on and pointing to it, with me so far?
next a signal is sent to the offending camera ( behind screen transmitter) which causes a flash, this alerts the staff that a film is being copied. But it gets better.
Next the camera sends a phone call to the local police to alert them that an offence is taking place at a certain movei house, this also baked up by the ability of the camera to attach itself signal wise to GPS which is linked to police HQ
The rest is history the Police turn up and an arrest takes place.
So now you know the facts

As a private pilot, this incident is of interest to me.
I read "medical checkup" and think "drug/alcohol test"
I am happy not to fly on the supposedly undamaged singapore aircraft just after such an incident.
It sounds like they were traveling in opposite directions. Perhaps one or both planes was/were off the center line of the taxiway.
I've been sobered by recent articles on Phuket Airlines, and their deferral of safety inspections, and learning they have only 13 planes. hmmmmmmmmm.
From the US, I am accustomed to a fairly heavy hand from the FAA, and Thailand is out of their jurisdiction, and I understand different rules and standards apply to different countries.
In the US, I have seen air traffic control literally melt down and lose track of planes approaching Oakland Airport in California in heavy traffic times. Certainly ground control can contribute to a problem, as can language misunderstandings.
I've certainly felt challenged navigating taxiways in new-to-me airports, but I expect commercial pilots are much better prepared and trained.
An incident like this can be healthy, because it wakes everybody up, and nobody was hurt. I can tell you that the FAA in the US posts incident reports and conclusions for all to read, and attempts to learn from every incident or close call. I wonder if the same is true here in Thailand?

As a Commercial pilot, I must say coming to a new airport and taxiing there for the first time is just as difficult for you and me. Maybe a better view and faster understanding of the taxi instructions but the signs,...,well I have to look for them too.
Clipping wingtips on the tarmac sounds unlikely... or did the two planes hit each others wingtips?. I know that Don Muang has some taxi areas where the extra space on the side is questionable, but still... clipping a wing while taxiing, especially on large planes where the wing tips are reasonably high above the ground is not such an easy thing to do...
Prop strikes on the other hand is something more frequent (on smaller planes)... especially on those large taxi lights on the side that stick out quite high above the ground.
I think they just taxiied and touched wings... small incident...
Let them fight it out who left centerline or who disregarded an order (if any were given)
