  1. It’s going to take quite some time to achieve a reciprocal visa free travel deal with the Schengen states. Prime Minister Srettha should boost tourist numbers by offering 90 days visa free travel to members of Schengen as a gesture of goodwill. Or at the very least to travelers over a certain age. Lots of retired european people would love to spend the winter months lying on the beaches or playing golf in Thailand. More so, if free from visa and immigration hassles.

Khun Srettha is soon traveling to India to propose a visa free deal. I am afraid that tourist from that continent will greatly boost arrival numbers, but definitely not Thailands coffers.

  2. I have used the same barber in Bangkok for more than 40 years. Even after I moved to Pattaya, I always plan my trips to Bangkok around the time I need a haircut. The barbershop is located in Sukhumvit Soi 8. He used to be on the main soi, but moved into the first side soi on the right hand side some years ago.
no fuzz. Around 10 minutes from arrival till the job is done.
Price is 200 Baht paid to his wife, and I always give him 100 Baht tip on the way out.

  3. In 1980 I travelled to Hua Hin with some friends. I am pretty sure we stayed in a 2-3 storey Thai style hotel with fan rooms located where the police station is now at Damnernkasem Road. Also seem to remember it was called the Railway Hotel, though not to be confused with the Old Railway Hotel now the Centara Grand further down the road.

Is my memory faded or can any old Hua Hin hands in this forum remember this place. Maybe even have some pictures.

A success for only those with Skin in the game, but not he regular old little folks who rely on tourism.

Well. My wife and I had 14 great days in the SANDBOX. We rented a car for the full period, played 9 rounds of golf at various courses, had dinner in numerous restaurants, paid handsome tips to maids, bell boys, waitresses and caddies. So I would say we contributed quite a lot to the “little old folks”

In the seventies, ( from 1975 for me ) , one of the" big  hotel "for backpapers was the " Thai song greet hotel ", I stayed there every time I came to Bangkok; maybe this guy " The Serpent " stayed ' there sometimes, too  ; the other one was the " Malaysia "

  6. I am an EU national. Married to a Thai for more than 30 years. We have children living and studying in the UK. Previously my wife was always issued a 5 year multiple UK visa. Last time just only a 6 month visa though.. May have been my mistake in trying to negotiate the visa jungle on your website. Is it possible to get a direct specific link to apply for a multiple long term visitor visa. ??

  7. Thanks. I will probably be OK. Singing very well in the bathroom, but with a micophone in front of an audience, lets see.

My paperwork has been checked and will be submitted this coming Thursday, at which time I was told to do the singing and common Thai knowledge test. Also told to prepare a Thai name.

I should be ok. Having lived here since 1972. Married to my Thai wife for more than 20 years. 2 children with thai nationality. I speak, read and write rather well. PR for the last 6 years.

Problems with reading though. Samran asked you a question! You haven't answered yet.

Please don't ask for information here about your interview. Don't complain that it wasn't about singing the National Anthem only. Something is waiting for you................

    ??????????????

    I thought I did answer

  9. My Thai wife and I are going to Europe on 19th June. She has a long term schengen visa. While in Europe we wish to visit UK. She has completed an online application for a tourist visa, however, first online appointment date is to close to our departure from Bangkok. Are there other ways to schedule appointments. Can you just show up? We have called the VFS helpdesk, but can't get to talk to a real person.
