So you "confronted" and then you "challenged" and then you whipped out your "I am an attorney from the USA" hat?  Dude, I don't feel a bit sorry for you.  I would have laughed you right out of the office.  I'll bet they are regaling themselves with the story of your visit over cocktails right now.

Thai people lie a LOT but they are not very good at it.  It's easy to catch them out . . .   and then they will lie about that!

I don't wanna sound like a bad guy but the cops/rescue people certainly did more than I would have done.  I would have just hosted his ass up rather than put anyone else over the side.

My extension of stay comes up next month.  I'm pretty sure my days are now numbered after a good stay in Thailand as I am not going to bring the money into the country in the way that they might want me to.

Looks like November 2019 will be my last here.

I do not have 800K in a bank here nor am I willing to deposit that amount and I do not need 65K to live and I am also unwilling to bring that amount in.  The heck of it is that I have several million dollars in brokerage accts in the States.   I live quietly and modestly here and I think I am the very kind of guy that Thailand might want to have about.

My choice to NOT do those things and I'm not looking for sympathy.  It's early days yet so we'll all just have to see how it works itself out.
