Amazing to read these insensitive posts, I used to own a restaurant bar in Phuket, so many complaints about Thailand this and Thailand that, I would get so disgusted! Why live here if you all have to complain so much, maybe you can't go home so your sentence is come to Thailand and slander it as much as you can. What a pity...just because we choose to live here what gives any foreigner the right to cut it up so much...I enjoy my time with the Thai people more than most of the cry babies who are just visitors anyway...
My deepest sympathy to this poor man who lost his wife in such a tragic way...may you find peace in your heart as soon as possible.

Thailand to me is such an amazing country, and so are the people, to me these people can deal with disasters as good or better than many other countries will or would, there is a flow and it will work out.

Road deaths and spousal abuse should see a welcome if only temporary dip in numbers for a while then.
This was a funny Forum for sure, it brought up a memory of when I ran out of beer on a boat delivery from Thailand to the USA, in the middle of the ocean, we saw a ship and called on the radio to see if he had any,
It was a calm glassy day, low and behold he did and welcomed us to come pick some up. We did and cigeretts we all had sworn to give up on this trip too..about 1,000 km off shore...smile.

The unsinkable PVC boat for 12k works pretty good, I have used one with a big hole in the side, but the foam core makes it "never mind". Put 6 adults in in with a 2hp engine no problem.
I would caution on the woodie, can get full blown 8 meter longtails in or around Phuket for as low as 40,000 b. Beautiful ones 100k includes engines of course. Build one new in Krabi for around 100 without engine.
Outboards as many posts say, I agree, be careful, better to buy from a truthful friend,,,,hmmmm or new. 2 stroke in the smaller models up to 50hp would be my choice.
Contact [email protected] for some help on any of the above
