  1. I (NZ passport) have no problems leaving and entering Thailand with my Thai born son (travelling on Thai passport) without his Thai mum. I have never been asked to show proof of paternity or asked for a letter from his mum or any other document.

Having said that I always have a copy of his birth certificate and when travelling to NZ, I do need to show his NZ passport at check-in to prove eligibility to enter NZ or Australia.

But no dramas or documents have ever been requested and regular international travel is occurring.

His mum and I are divorced.

  2. I am curious to know if anybody may be interested.

I have a business importing supermarket products; mid to upper end products

It has been a lifestyle business whilst not making me rich, I have enjoyed simple things.

It has been a small family business (4 employees)., which has undertaken everything in house, sourcing, importing, clearing, licensing with FDA, and distribution to clients

These include; TOPS, Gourmet Market, Villa Market, Rimping, Foodlands and now Lotus.

We also supply speciality stores, sales through social media, and have sales direct to consumer

Unfortunately and my bad, I placed complete trust in my now ex wife and never had a check and balance in place. I concentrated on sourcing and logistics inbound and domestic, and my ex wife looked after administration and accounts.. She is a problem gambler and managed to hide it for the 6 years we were together. At her level it is a disease and not an addiction. Just to be clear, she is very well university educated and extremely intelligent, and if you have ever had experience with Gambling as a disease, you will know it is quite something else and no cure. She put us as close to bankruptcy as it is as possible to get.

I have managed to stay afloat until this point in time. However I am faced with closing the doors if I cannot find a way forward

I have missed many sales opportunities and find myself in a predicament of suddenly being asked to substantially increase supplies to existing customers and have had new ones come and and want our products as supermarkets increase trade post covid...

I am cash flow poor to the point of being hog tied.

This business has substantial experience in negotiating and meeting the requirements of Thai regulations for FMCG, and we are now diversifying to make this an alternative income stream. Even Thai companies and people have used us to help negotiate Thai systems as they cannot understand their own country's systems.

This is our fundamental asset; we can do everything from ex-warehosue of supplier to purchase by the end consumer.

As a small business with no appreciable collateral assets: (we lease our office and warehouse and have office equipment, a car and a van), we are not seen in a favourable light by lending institutions.

Which is ridiculous as if there is one trade that needs to keep accounts paid it is supermarkets and they are always reliable, people need to eat.

Thai banks all promise no collateral borrowing but that's nonsense and are not business expansion friendly.

Suppliers tend to be risk averse about international supermarket trade, which again is ridiculous as they face similar trading terms in their own countries, and the catch cry of global trade is simply empty nonsense.

Normal supermarket trade here relies on credit terms of 60 -90 days., which if you are importing and having to pre-purchase makes for long time for money to come back.

So how to do? And how to do now?

As a way of thinking outside the square, I have come here to see if there people whom may be interested in a version of crowdfunding  done directly between me and them

I am looking at 20,000THB lots on a 90 day return with 10% return. I would like to achieve a target of 1 million THB but can be staggered over next two to three months.

If there is interest, I am happy to go into in depth detail and I am happy to be as open and transparent as required to satisfy any questions or queries people may have.

I will invite you to our premises and sit down with interested people to work through how we can all be satisfied and understand and accept the risk.

Example; I am happy to share purchase orders from our customers and our orders to suppliers. We can offset any funding against specific purchase orders if desired

I have tried to keep this short but with enough information for people to understand and decide if they want to know more

Thank you for your time to read this and happy to see any comments and interest come or not...

Realistically speaking, can education get any worse in Thailand? When students are not allowed to question their teachers, who are pathologically afraid of losing face, how will the kids learn and keep open minds and get the creative juices flowing?

Rather than so called reform, it would be better to admit total failure, and rebuild the system from scratch, using outside help, from the top rated nations in the world for education.

Unless they are simply trying to avoid reform, and a creative and vibrant youth. That is more likely. The army is despised like never before, despite their attempts to oppress.

have no problem with reform but this statement scares me

"using outside help, from the top rated nations in the world for education."

I fear that is out of the frying pan into the fire.....

When I look at fess charged by outside education providers here by "top" rated schools.... its obvious its a cash cow not an education system....

They want quality tourists who all stay at 5 star hotels and don't drink at bars.  Its simple (mindedness).

This resonates not just Thailand thinking... .....Head of Air New Zealand made similar comments regarding future tourism for New Zealand earlier this year...lets not waste the perfect opportunity given by covid to be more discerning about whom comes... we want only the very wealthy.... that way we can meet our climate change goals and targets and and have fewer flights but bringing big spenders...we don't want the back packers or cheap tourists lowering the standard of New Zealand as he sat in his glass tower office with his 6 figure salary and perks....and Government in NZ gave some backing to this....

Despite what you say, Covid is not much of a threat.

Look at the detailed stats in developped countries : UK, France, Germany etc.

->always the same profile : old and sick

For France for instance (official source)

    FRANCE.png.0d7b4202912c2f1d7559365c16519dc5.png

    Deaths from/with Covid since march 1 2020.

    Total 84 758.

73 % of them were older than 75 years.

And most of the people in ICU (before death) had at least... 1 comorbidity (diabetis, hypertension etc).

Those are hard data that you will find everywhere.

As for the "long Covid", again, you focus on some cases (which exist).... but we have many strange, weird and debilitating diseases that affect human every year... For that matter Covid is not extraordinary.

So Covid should be handled with common sense :

-protect the old and the sick (with vaccine)

-and let live the huge majority of the population who are not affected by Covid.

    It's very simple actually.

    champion ...well put

You really got a problem with facts don't you. Your 2 previous posts and this one are remarkably free of any independently confirmable evidence but chock full of generalizations, accusations and innuendos.

We've seen in other countries what happens to hospitals when covid19 cases surge. What makes Thailand different?

And if you had bothered to use that search term I gave you would have found that the spokesperson for the system confirmed the shortage of beds.

I'm a cynical  statistician...I don't disbelieve the facts but most certainly distrust most peoples interpretation of the facts when they are math. and stat. related...there are lies, damn lies, and then there are stats...I can get them to say whatever you want with complete utter beyond reproachment arguments to back it up....... however in response to your opinion I prefer to think I'm quite pragmatic in my approach... I can say looking at even the worst countries in the world as quoted by media....as proving beyond doubt the very very vast majority of people have nothing to fear from covid either positive or negative, even allowing for the bias in whomevers point of view; locked up or down or not as the case may be... if you only want cold hard facts then its going to be a very long wait for you as you are only receiving what makes headlines or controls the masses.... Italy, Spain are interesting studies in how national health systems were outwardly robust but in reality systems in various states of decay and neglect, the same could be said of England to its current state which should not have been unexpected considering the débâcle NHS has been since its inception...New Zealand govt suddenly realised they were going to experience at worst case, an Italian scenario so they abruptly shut the door...take a closer look at all the factors and you should be able to see virus is an excellent control method of the masses wrongly or rightly.... side fact New Zealand govt has spent $1.9billion dollars in mental health care which has resulted in wait for it; 5 extra beds across New Zealand; this systematic of the approach to healthcare in NZ pay for endless studies and consultants;;;; the number of doctors and nurses has stayed basically the same but administartion staff has increased beyond the pale

my overiding point.... we are all basically safe to be carrying on as normal...not running around fearing death at every touch or breath or one too many drinks at my restaurant with my dinner....in fact most Thai still have relatively normal lives..... work drink eat sleep....however they cannot keep supporting the out of work tourism sector and there is simply not enough alternative employment to keep those tourism sector people going or govt keeping on supporting them however little.. this coming month 3000bath matched to your 3000thb employed or not ... that's actually not too shabby ....

One place I got it from is here:

Leading doctor calls for Bangkok lockdown

“Each hospital is trying not to test that many people because there is not enough bed for when they have tested positive,” Dr Nitipat.

“We can no longer add any more bed for patients in severity level 2 and 3,” he added.

Patients in severity level 1 will normally require a ventilator to breathe.

    https://www.thaienquirer.com/28921/leading-doctor-calls-for-bangkok-lockdown/

one doctor comment does make it true necessarily... and from my extended family experiences in the last two weeks at four hospitals certainly not true

    further

Each hospital is trying not to test that many people because there is not enough bed for when they have tested positive,

lets look at what's been said here....this doctor is inferring everyone whom tests positive needs a bed... simply complete nonsense...but adds weight to the good doctors quoted comments and his moment of fame...

I have serious doubts he can vouch for every hospital across Bangkok most are private businesses  wanting each others clients and not likely to share commercially sensitive information with each other...

I know of several businesses whom are testing the thousands of employees every week for covid, not all whom test positive A staggeringly minute number considering the proximity to each other they all work in and face masks regularly not in evidence end up in hospital....that's simple reality not possible... go home and self isolate.....

  8. 1 minute ago, placeholder said:

Because traffic accidents are contagious and threaten to overwhelm hospitals? Even with the still relatively low rate of infection in Thailand, Bangkok's critical care beds are full up. Whaddya think's gonna happen if restrictions are eased?

not sure where you got full up acute records from but certainly not true....and most definitely not overwhelmed ... but correct...that's the question isn't it.... what's going to happen?... we are going to see soon enough.....my biggest issue has always been the same all the way along, not just here, but in every country, the mass oxymoron decisions made based on wealth status and or influence to is allowed to carry on as normal and who isn't ... why simply for example if you were diplomat you were excused from isolation or in the armed services excused also ....or close the bars at 10 ...  no rational thought has prevailed anywhere... it has all been based on cherry picking science and Psuedo experts mixed with completely erroneous modelling and experts 15mins of fame.... the poor average joe hasn't been allowed to make any informed decisions themselves....bit like smoking.....or drinking too much or whatever..... you cannot get away from the reality stronger more than ever, the overwhelming vast majority have no risk from covid which I'm sure will rise howls of derision from those whom believe simply a positive test is a death sentence

  9. agreed to reality principle... the longer this drags out the more the world populations become more weary and cracks grow in the arguments for control... media politics and money.... it has been a field day for them .... but real day to day living eventually needs to take over again.....even nz in their zero covid ideology is fated to eventually cede to open border and covid presence

and guess what it is not dangerous for the vast majority of people.... longer this goes on the more this proven...

For instance New-Zeland can afford it (rich, isolated country)... But what about Maldives ? Population 500 000... and there is only tourism there. Nothing else

Um Nz cannot afford it..... it is not a rich isolated country..yes it is isolated, but has now one of the worst wealth spreads in the world... whereby wealthy are not effected in any way shape or form but the rest have had and are going to have some problems

To be blunt it is a Nanny State Banana Republic with the population taxed the same as Scandinavian countries but without the same welfare return.

The current government traditionally left of centre and very much working class has just announced the solution to NZ's problem is to allow investors to travel to NZ secretly, queue jumping the waiting list to get in, at the invitation of NZ government to create wealth and money... No investor worth their salt based offshore is going to be doing that unless there are tangible benefits to take offshore...long term benefits to NZers... none bar the wealthy

You have totally missed the point, this forum isn't here to solve any of Thailand's problems (The Thai themselves couldn't realize this herculean task even if they had 100 years to do it)

We are just here to express our ressentment and all the negatives things that could sometimes cross our minds, and doing it in this way we can keep all the positives things for the real life and to continue to be perfectly happy with the daily life

it's a little bit like a therapy, but much more cheaper and with less constraints

It is a bit sad when even your last post here has to take a swipe at all Thais..... where would you be from then.... I have no doubt there would be some totally negative against all you and your country of origin folk...by all means express your negative views and thoughts so your reality of daily life can be positive... it must be so hard for you to remain positive when you are convinced and say publicly all Thai are incompetent.. how do you manage to get out of bed in the morning knowing you will be totally immersed in a sea of people so stupid..... or are you living in a nice little gated world and shut them all out...

I seriously cannot believe this is anything more than a post designed to get people going one way or the other.... seriously is the op so inured to anything either here or anywhere where they may be from to have not seen anything in their lives..... trawl youtube and you will find all sorts of overhangs, overheights, overbizarre from anywhere in the world....  try New Zealand for instance a legal 4 metre overhang on a 2 axle truck... that's almost as much as what you see here ... the ones that amaze me are the hay truck and trailers they are a sight to behold...once up to about 3.5metres off the ground the sides sprout out almost a metre wider for another metre in height, or the pickups carrying light products like chips/crisps, spot the pickup beneath the closely stacked boxes moving down the road.

Here is classic example of using load parameters to best efficiency, tissue paper arriving at a supermarket distribution centre last week. Not weight overloaded and meeting height and width requirements.... tarpaulin very much necessary as imagine what a good rain would do to the weight ....

I know nothing about Australian politics, but I will never accept that any western country has a PM who is as unfit to run a country as the present unelected Thai "PM". Just take a look at the reports in the Thaivisa Newsletter, and the opinions of the vast majority of members and you will maybe get a better idea of how unfit he is to run Thailand.

If you know nothing about Australian politics then you are unable to qualify your claims about the Thai PM... for that matter someone like a recent US president could claim the same unfit credentials you claim the Thai PM has... and shall we stop there or open our eyes and go looking at some of these "qualified" leaders...Trudeau from Canada has some serious dark secrets that he doesn't want the world to know... current politics in Uk ..just a cesspool of flotsam and sleaze...

Thaivisa memebers and Thaivisa Newsletter are nothing more than people whom can be bothered to openly comment..and do not necessarily represent the vast majority, certainly here in Thailand Thaivisa represent perhaps a very niche section of Thai community in general and certainly not the everyday Thai citizen

And before you make claims about how important the expats and foreigners are here... think again.... the serious wealth and money through ancestral families leaves all the wealth of recent foreigners as nothing more than a few satang,

I am not doubting there are others much better qualified or experienced but one thing the Thai Pm has done without a doubt is bring stability to where there was nothing but escalating ridiculousness in politics which was affecting everyday lives of everyday people.....

Instead of being openly negative of him try looking at grass roots up perspective.... because those people make the rich people rich...

Those people have had a level of support throughout covid which minimal by western standards has kept the wolves at bay and allowed people still to live....not just survive...

What is scomo? what/who is Imao? What/who is rofl?

I am well aware of politicians lining their own pockets. Senior politicians in western countries have the education and brains to get away with corruption and telling blatant lies to their people, but the unelected "PM" in Thailand does not have the brains or education to do that. He makes it so obvious every time he opens his mouth.

He is only at the head of the country because he took it by force.

scomo= Scott Morrison ... now did he really get to be head of Australia by popular vote.......scomo is so busy lining his pockets and that of his cronies that it is farcical... NZ booted him out once they realized what thieving ba'tard he was (NZ employed him as a Tourism guru but was sacked before his term was half way over monies) and then he re-emerged as Australian PM....

To say he is better than an unelected PM because he has education and brains to get away with it is just plainly wrong... and I make note that despite acquiring power unelected, there was no bloodshed, and Thai PM has brought stability to a country that was approaching a true Mexican standoff in it's politics, most Thai whom venture an opinion about him will say he is self serving, dull as dishwater, but stable and most people could once again get on with their lives without interruption... that's not a bad thing

And when we pull the blinkers off and compare apples with apples... real death rates .. Thailand has done so much better than many so called first world countries....

lmao= laughing my <deleted> off....rofl= rolling on the floor laughing which were made in the posters comparison to Australia being better than Thailand

So 4% testing positive.........say one in one in twenty........not good.

testing positive is misleading... should be testing positive AND having serious health effects as a result.... really we should be aiming for 100% testing positive BUT minimal health effects .which equates to typical virus behaviour in people. and covid is merely a typical virus......positive test result is a meaningless figure unless you want hysteria or control of the people...

rational sense says masks sanitiser etc must make some difference, however I do not believe the end game stats will change very much....

please explain how you come to that conclusion

    I'm not getting it

13 thousand tests a day versus 1 million tests a day

sorry my friend how on earth you ..............................

Thailand needs to take a very close look at India right now were it is so bad that they have completely given up

PS - last year I predicted on here that India would be a total covid train wreck, I wish I was wrong - horrific

Umm I don't think your maths is very good.... india a total train wreck??? um America 325million people 573 thousand covid deaths

india to date 200thousand covid deaths 1.366 billion people... even with under-reporting I think India is doing rather well in comparison... you would need to be having death toll from covid in india of nearly ten times what it is currently to be equal with the states

Your bordering mass hysteria comments about india is symptomatic of the greater world reaction to this whole pandemic... even in America the chances of a covid death are around 0.17%... more chance of dyin from car accidents cancer heart disease, arguably all equally preventable but we don't except for cigarettes....ban alcohol God forbid and we all be so much safer but we don't nanny state nanny world.....
