  1. As Sheryl has said there are several medications available which I unfortunately know from experience. Saw palmetto is natural and has been claimed to keep the prostate from growing, but don't know if it will help with the pee problem if you already have it. Have been taking it myself as a supplement, but also taking medicine for bph that relaxes the muscles around the bladder neck. Was told by the Dr. that there is also medicine that can reduce the size of the prostate over time if the other doesn't work.

Don't post much, but maybe my experience can offer some beneficial info. I was originally diagnosed with bph while back in the states for a few months last year. Was also having trouble going to the bathroom, and went to see the Dr. Diagnosed with prostate infection, and put on 9 weeks of antibiotics. That really sucked, and after the 9 weeks was still having issues. Family Dr. didn't notice much enlargement, so put me on 3 more weeks antibiotics, and prescribed Flomax (tamsulosin) which worked at first, but after a couple of weeks didn't seem to be as effective, and it made me feel horrible. Waited a couple of weeks after the antibiotics were finished just to see if that made a difference, but still no improvement. Was sent to a urologist who did a thorough investigation including a scope, and he concluded also enlarged prostate, and prescribed Rapaflo (silodosin) which was just before coming back to Thailand. Did not feel bad at all while taking silodosin, but did have retrograde ejaculation. Once back, realized silodosin is not available here, but tamsulosin and alfuzosin are. Didn't want to go back on tamsulosin, so checked with the Dr. back in the states if alfuzosin would be ok, and he said it would be similar and ok to change. Doesn't make me feel like the tamsulosin did, and no retrograde, but at times can feel fatigued while trying to exercise. Also should add that for me, none of the medicines resulted in what I would consider normal flow, and with alfuzosin some days are better than others, but overall definitely an improvement.

So whatever you are prescribed, know that there are alternatives if the first doesn't work, or the side effects are harsh.

  2. On a side not, any recommendations on where to get a lift stand in CM?

Try "Fast Corner", Ground Floor, Pantip Plaza, Changklan Road.

Thanks. Hadn't thought about them, and just walked by their shop a bit ago after picking up a harddrive. CRF brochure has one listed on accessories page, but would like to see what the options are around.

  3. Rode about 170 k last Wednesday. I know, not much to some, but my first trip that included off road. Not sure if there is a name for it, but the route went out Mae Rim Rd to the Mae Taeng elephant camp area, then past the Mae Taeng river rafting. Some dual and some single that came out on the 1095 Pai rd. Nothing major, but according to the friend I rode with, it was a lot wetter and rougher than when he rode it before. To me, there were lots of ruts, rocks and mud. This was my first experience riding off road, and have to say it was a lot of fun with some pucker moments thrown in (will have proper footwear and knee protection next time). Beautiful countryside, with villages scattered about the route, places I'd never experience on 4 wheels.

The seat was comfortable for the most part, and since I wasn't really comfortable riding standing, sat through many of the bumps while my friend was standing. Suspension seemed pretty good to me, and really didn't feel abused by the bumps. Seat really only became uncomfortable on the way back about half way between getting on the Pai rd. and the Mae Rim rd. The big surprise was my knees did not lock up at all. Riding position on a PCX had my knees hurting after only about 15 k. Can't comment much more on how it did off road as I have no experience to compare to, but it made it without any issues.

Tires handled everything off road without any problems, and rode the pavement quite well. Had me rethinking whether I want to have a set of motard wheels/tires made up, but since most of my riding will be daily commute will probably still go that route and learn to change them out for off road.

Filled up at Mae Sa and then again right after getting on the Mae Rim rd. coming back. Still had 2 bars showing on the fuel gauge, and can't remember the exact distance, but figured it out to 34.5 k/ltr.

One thing for sure, it takes a lot longer to wash than a PCX.

On a side not, any recommendations on where to get a lift stand in CM?

  4. Picked up my bike Monday, love this little jigger. First impression was I didn't like the steering, rake too steep, now having a lot of fun!

Over at the motocross shop on the Moat today and had a rear carrier fitted. I see they had a bunch of gearlevers with foldable end ready to weld onto a standard shifter. Forgot to ask the price. The rear rack looks about 10 times stronger than the Honda fitted one and only 400 bt more, all stainless 10mm box section. They also have pretty nice looking alloy sump guards for the CRF

Sorry, where is this shop ?

NorthEast corner of the moat right beside Riders Corner.

  5. First of all, I'm not the most experienced rider. I guess I could be considered a re-newbie rider. My last real bike was a HD RKC, but that was over ten years ago. Never did get to ride as much as I would have liked. The CRF is nothing like it, nor did I expect it to be. I have never ridden off road, but could see learning to like it, but hope to have a set of motards made as most of my riding will be on road.

Reading what other more experienced riders reported was a major factor in deciding to buy the CRF vs D-Tracker/KLX. Thanks for all those who have contributed their experience here and other forums.

This bike will be great for some, good for others, and useless to some for various reasons. As has been said, to each his own, and I will respect those who's views differ. There's a lot more rider knowledge and experience out there that I am more than willing to listen and try to learn from. But for now, what follows is just my experience and opinion.

For me it's great. I like the upright seating, and the leg position is actually more comfortable to me than the 80 degreeish angle on the PCX. I'm 176.5cm tall and about 87kg. Tried the CBR250, but my shoulder did not like that riding postition at all. So far the seat has been comfortable, but haven't gone for any real long rides as of yet. I do suffer from chewbacca syndrum, so riding anything after a while can become uncomfortable if I start to sweat. If I do decide to do any touring, it won't be to cover great distances as fast as possible, but to enjoy the beauty of this country, so plenty of stops along the way.

Cruising at 100 the bike still has power to go if I need it to, but for the most part I'm comfortable and content in that range. The bike has gotten to 126 (speedo, no gps available) quite easily on a few occassions when not paying attention to the speedo. To me, the knobbies start to get a little too jumpy, and I am still getting used to the bike. Overall though, the ride is very smooth, but have only ridden on road.

As far as getting around traffic, I never was one for threading through and around the lines of stopped cars at traffic lights unless there was plenty of room to get around, so it's not an issue if I just have to find a hole and wait. It does seem to be easier cutting between bumpers than was on the PCX. Of course the PCX isn't the thinnest of bikes either.

I can't quite get my feet flat on the ground, which has only been a real problem once, so far. Trying to turn around from a stop, too slowly and tight on a rather steep incline, threw the balance off, and as I went to balance with my right leg on the downhill side, there was nothing there. My stump was too short and the bike too heavy to keep it from going down although somewhat controlled. Still it was enough to bend the brake lever a bit. Changing the wheels and tires should help in this respect. Wrap around hand guards are also on the list of things to get.

I still have much to learn about riding this bike and riding in Thailand, hopefully on and off road, and will always try to do so within my ability. Some may completely disagree with my views of the bike, and riding style, but that's the great thing about it, there are other bikes out there to fit other budgets, riding styles, abilities and needs. Someday I might be able to afford something that would change my mind, but for now the CRF fits my budget, and my need.

  6. Picked mine up this afternoon. Holy crap that was a fun ride home. Yeah, doesn't take much to get me excited, especially since I haven't ridden a manual bike in a while let alone anything over 125cc. I liked the PCX, but believe I am going to like this a lot more. Wasn't looking for a lot of speed, just power to move quicker when needed.

Might have been a slopticle illusion, but it really seemed to be easier moving between stopped cars at red light than the PCX was. Riding position was comfortable but only about 20k ride.

Tach would be nice as well to help tune the ears. Being slightly on the vertically challenged side, look forward to getting motard setup. Will have to do something about extra storage which I will miss about PCX. Any recommendations on top box or other storage options?

  7. I was also told by the dealer that they did not have first class insurance because there were too many accidents on 250s.

Got the same quote for CRF250L in CM. Friend recently bought a KLX and paid about the same, but didn't ask where he got it.

Just out of curiosity, is there anyone who doesn't have first class on their 250 or above bike? If not what insurance do you have. Not trying to start a debate, but I have looked at a combination voluntary 3rd party + the honda theft/fire/damage, but seems to be quite a bit of difference in coverage.

  8. So how much did you pay nO need to be shy can help others to make decisions with this info

OK. List price was 139,900, got them to come down to 138,000 against 60k for trade on PCX. Figure the 60k was due to inflated price but still 10k better than others offered.

Don't know if I could have gotten 60k if I tried to sell it myself now that the PCX 150's are everywhere, but think 55k would have been realistic. Doesn't help anyone looking for lower price, but to me converts to 133,000 (which was the lowest price I was quoted) and 55k for trade. OK, may not be real world pricing, but makes me feel better.

  9. Thanks for all the responses.

Vocal Neal, I appreciate you bringing up not entering into the agreement in good faith, because that is what I wanted to avoid.

My question was based on being told it would be a month or more wait, and with all the speculation on pricing, didn't want to get caught in a bad situation. Hence my posting here to get knowledgable info. Also my understanding on the deposit was that it was for a bike they were expecting, not one they had to order, but I could have misunderstood since that happens alot with my sucky language skills.

Now if I would have waited a few hours I would not have had to post at all. Was informed they got a bike in so no longer a wait involved. Have already gone and put a deposit and will finalize this weekend. Price is decent by current pricing here in CM, but if it drops to 120k as some have speculated, yeah, that will suck. Did I expect that it would drop that much in a month or 2 especially here in CM? Probably not, but better safe than sorry. Wana is correct, I knew what I wanted when I went, but wanted to go about it in the right way.

    Thanks again. wai.gif

  10. If I decide to put a deposit on a bike at one dealer, and while waiting another offers a lower price, is it possible to get your deposit back from the other? Looking at CRF250L, but prices seem to be jumping all over the place.

    Thanks for any help.

  11. @SumetCycle - excellent info, thank you so much! That was my guess too.

As for Chiang Mai prices I just so happened to walk by a shop I'd never really noticed before, and they had a CRF on show. Price 234,000 includes a 200 baht helmet, a jacket (didn't see but I guess nothing special) and mandatory and accident insurance, and registration. The accident insurance brings it in pretty close to what I was going to pay, 130k. The very nice lady didn't want to go down to that, but theft insurance would be an additional 2,000 baht. I don't know why the insurance is so cheap - but I'll take it!

I am expecting a call with prices for nearly all the accessories. She asked me which one I liked and I went through the list and with one or two exceptions checked all of them wink.png

The talk about the "promotion price" is just talk - it's a sales tactic. Nothing is stopping them from later offering another, even better "promotion". It's just supply and demand - wares need to be moved. Prices are always negotiable.

PS: I've got the feeling that ramp up for this bike is going to be really fast. All dealers that want it seem to already have one show model, and all of them say they have a couple coming next month. This is much better than was the case with the CBR250.

Nikster can you share which shop that was?

Been looking around CM and Nat quoted me the lowest, but got best trade price for PCX at the shop northeast of the moat. Even with the 139,900 price tag it came out lower than Nat. Planning on going back tomorrow to see if they will come down on price.

Stopped by the shop on Mae Rim road next to the Toyota dealer yesterday, and they had at least 4 sitting on the loading dock in the back with a bunch of other new bikes, and one inside. Listed price was 139,900.

  12. Okay, this is driving me semi-nuts (it's a short trip) but, most of the school websites talk about 90 extensions while on a one year ED visa at a cost of 1,900 baht each. Payap U. says, on their website - quote: "Report to Immigration every 90 days (beginning the 90th day after you have arrived in Thailand) and fill out the "form for alien to notify of staying longer than 90 days". This only takes a few minutes and there is no charge."

Do holders of ED Visas pay 1,900 baht every 90 days, or do they not pay? I would like to hear from people who actually have and use their ED Visas right now and not second hand, "I heard that someone said that they knew somebody who met a guy"...etc info. Thanks.

Was on education visa last year.

You enter the country and at the first 90 days you pay the B1900 to extend to 1 year visa.

From that point you have to check in every 90 days and doesn't cost anything but time.

Before your first year is up, if you decide to continue to study and go the ED visa route the school should submit paperwork and you go through the same process again, except for having to initially leave the country.

1 caveat: that's how it is supposed to work. Should the school make a data entry error on the paperwork as happened to me, the first 90 day becomes only a 90 day extension and you get to pay again at the next 90 day to extend for the year. My point being, you should only have to pay B1900 once per year, but things do happen.

  13. Sorry, not too knowledgable on this stuff. Is changing out the rims/tires all that would be necessary to make it a super motard? About how much would a set of motard rims and tires be? Was considering trading up the PCX 125 to 150, but having second thoughts after looking at the CRF. Not interested right now in off road stuff, but like the idea of super motard, and having both sets would give the option for more off road later on.

don't know about the super bit, but just putting 17" rims and road tyres would be okay. Get a set of hubs from your Honda dealer, find after market rims in the colour of your choice and get 'em spoked. You'll need to find what clearance there is for what size tyre you get.

BTW, for the vertically challenged Honda Japan have a lowering kit - drops the seat height by 45mm

Thanks for the info. Again my lack of knowledge showing through here, but where would I look to get the wheels made up? Would doing it this way in anyway void warranty, or as long as formed around stock hubs not be an issue.

Funny you added the vertically challenged comment to my post. Used to hear that all the time back home when I worked with a friend who was 6' 6". If he saw it he would be rofl.thumbsup.gif But here in the LOS I stand tall enough on a CRF to get half my foot on the groung without stretching. Changing to 17" tires should be just about right.

laugh.png Sorry, just threw that in to save posting twice. No disrespect intended, i'm not very tall myself.

I reckon Honda will do a motard version soon, it's just begging to be done. Whether APe Honda will do it soon or not is anyone's guess.

A pic of the 2005 XR250 Motard to give an idea

    post-70604-0-15834100-1337426745_thumb.j

No worries, no offense taken. Thought it was quite hilarious myself. biggrin.png

The picture of the CRF motard posted earlier in the thread is what made me start looking at the bike, well that and the speculated sale price. Unfortunately now I still like it even with the higher price. Just want to make sure I could change the wheels/tires soon as all my riding is on pavement, and don't want to do that too much with knobby tires, and especially when it's wet.

  16. Been searching all over the net, and not all is Thailand specific, so hoped those of you here can verify/shed some light on using US or other region Xbox here.

First off, we have friends in the US that have offered to send us an Xbox 360 with Kinect from the US. We are currently living in CM. The main reason is for playing online together, and using the video chat function.

So here is what I hope can be verified/corrected, or answered:

    1. As long as the Xbox live account is registered in the US, (they would do set it up in our name and then send it), we should still be able to log on to XBL from a Thailand ISP is that correct?

    2. Changing the power supply cable would be better than using a step down converter? Are these available locally, or search ebay and have sent from US?

Any other info that might be helpful is welcome.

  17. On a 2010 Vigo 4x4 auto, no

it will sell at asking price. my sold at 850k baht in 24 hours after ad at TV classified, 18 months and 30k km. so did my 3 previous ones

    Thanks for the reply.

That's what I was afraid of. It's right on the border of my budget, so if it is still available I may have to dig a little deeper if I am going to get what I need.

  18. What should be included in the price of a second hand vehicle bought at tent/dealer? Is there a standard, or is everything negotiated? Went to Toyota sure (CM) and was told on top of the price, which they wouldn't come down on (2010 Vigo 4x4 auto), that I would pay extra for registration/transfer of the Toyota and my Everest which I am trading in. Could have been some miscommunication as my thai is not so great, and wife's is only a bit better, but didn't seem like anything was negotiable.
