By all your kind responses I must say the night was not a lose at all... I did get the opportunity to meet most of you and I agree...There are still some decent & good people out there in TV forum land.

I will not hang my hat up as of yet and My Manager Ryan and I mutually agreed that we will push to have the Coconut Head Reggae band or an equally talented Band on every Saturday. Plus...We have officially made Saturday nights LADIES NIGHT! Last night was so nice not to have any sweaty hairy slobbering blokes... Nope, There were good guys and so many young single woman including a few mesmerizing classy ladies as well that made it a pleasure to host the entire night So Ladies, It's your Night... "Saturday Night Time is the Right Time to Rick N' Roll" !

Yeah, the Reggae band was about the best I've heard on the island and then the blues guy was incredible also.

I was so wrapped up in listening to them, I didn't make too many introductions to other members.

I did notice some preferred to stay incognito while others had no problem with saying who they were.

Nice to meet the ones who weren't afraid.

I was a bit surprised at the low turnout.

I thought there were about 20 of us there (i don't think all of those young girls were Thai Visa people but, of course, i could be wrong)

Good time for sure.

Actually, The official count was thirteen (13) Thai Visa Members and some decided not to have the BBQ but still requested to have a free Beer... Thankfully I reopened the BBQ to the public and the walk in guests including those hot young girls and many other that actually out numbered the Thai Visa members by a large margin. We hosted a 6 piece Reggae Band and a 3 piece Blues/Rock Band so the night was not cheap and would have been a real experience for you all. Chainsaw & Fiddlehead got up on stage and shared the energy. I will continue to feature our LIVE MUSIC BBQs Mondays-Thursdays and tonight Saturdays. Oh Yea, Tonight more live music and lots of Great Food & Fun!

I know there are so many more good people on this Island and in this Country Thai & Foreigner that deserve a fare shot. I am from Vegas and I guess no matter where you go in this world it is the Roll of the Dice... However, in this case I hope to actually get some feedback of what our local community want in a place they can go... let their hair down and really enjoy some nightlife and entertainment. I have been working in Thailand (Phuket) for almost 13 years. I have invested over a third of my life and so much time and effort to build something I hoped would become credible, special and fun... hence "Rick N' Roll Music Cafe". Due to our World Economy & The High Baht and let's say the Colorful Conflicts in Phuket / Bangkok... Tourism is way down and having a business here in Thailand is... Let's say... Challenging.

Since Tourism is way down all businesses owners in Phuket / Thailand need to target the expat community. By reading these forum comments that may be harder then getting more tourists to miraculously start coming back to Thailand : )

Profit??? Not sure there will be any Profit... However, If being a sponsor and this TV Get together creates a comradery " familiarity and trust between friends" and an awareness of a place that is not just another " Watering Hole" but a place where people actually feel apart of something and a place you can meet up with friends that happens to have a Great Vibe, Good Food. Tomorrow night Monday the 28th we have some of the Bands from the Phuket Blues Rock Festival coming in for an Unplugged Jam.

As a sponsor I hope to meet all those TV forum members on the 11th of March that don't complain about what we don't have on this Island.. But on the other hand are willing to support each other in a network to see what we actually do have and what we can have in the future!

I took my wife and another couple to Rick 'N Roll and we had a terrific time. The food was great as has already been mentioned in the thread about Farang food that's currently running. They do that 350 Baht BBQ three nights a week and we'll be back. This Phuket forum is really useful to pick up ideas like Rick's for Valentine's day.

Of course the Phuket Blues Rock Festival at the Hilton Arcadia on the 25th and 26th... If anyone wants to save 300 baht... Go to Rick N' Roll Music cafe to get tickets for 1,200 instead of the gate price of 1,500 baht plus if your a real fan of the blues sing a small verse of your favorite blues song and get a free local beer with your ticket purchase. There will be a Rhythm and Blue Party at Rick N' Roll on Monday the 28th of Feb and if you bring your wrist band you also get a free local Beer.

Awesome...I would love to support a Phuket TV get together. Being a sponsor of this Phuket Forum has been great so far and I have no regrets. I have however... met some interesting people and a well some unique ones as well.

I did believe that being a sponsor would be a great way to network with many of you while supporting your venues and ventures as well.

As far as this venue, Rick N' Roll Music Cafe is a great Live Music Party Place and we have plenty of seating indoor & a great beer garden outdoor. The BBQ menu consists of: Honey BBQ Pork Ribs, Sirloin Steak, Chicken Kebabs, Tempura Shrimp, Buffalo Wings, Roasted Potatoes, Greens and Salad.

To prime this event I will put out a welcome punch bowl and believe me it won't be for the faint of heart. As far as the date I will be having my Birthday Bash on the Saturday March the 5th so anytime after that RnR is open to your date and party suggestions.

I love BBQ. On the beach, on the flybridge, in sailboat cockpits, outside my caravan/mobilehome in the snow, or simply poolside, you name it

but I have never been a fan of BBQ restaurants. Que for food, all beef tenderloin finished at 8, over cooked or rear, you name it

Until last Saturday night. RicknRoll in Kata. Serves a large plate at your table with spareribs, tenderloin, chicken kebab with veggies, deep fried chicken, salad, potato and a taste of seafood. Delicious 350 baht seems reasonable for this quality of food

Free refill of all foods, also served at your table. Nice music, nice ambiance, nice setting, good location, roadside parking.

Seemed a bit short on staff last night, but the staff on work did a terrific job, and never more than 5 minutes wait for a new beer

Well, as it reads I am really searching and as you saw with so many people last night....that's is why I made that post... We do need more staff. With so much fun and excitement going on with these Monday, Thursday & Saturday Live Music BBQ we could use some referrals for more quality hostesses and Servers. Let's see if I can get a few more staff before tomorrow nights Live Music Valentines Days BBQ You mentioned the quality of food as well... we only use Australian Sirloin for the Steaks, Fresh Pork for the Honey BBQ Baby Back Ribs, Fresh Shrimp & Chicken for the Kebabs, and daily market Veggies for the Salad & Roasted Garlic Potatoes ...Hope to see you back soon!

If you already have 2 gems just do the same as before when you hired them

Finding the two gems I currently have was after screening and hiring 40 people over a 3 year period... Not good odds at all. The real question is... Do members or readers have friends or know any ladies looking for a good, honest fare job at a Restaurant, Bar Guesthouse? This fun job as a either a Cook, Bartender, Server comes with a more than fare wages including room and board. There has got to be someone out there looking?

I agree, Life here is an exiting challenge and speaking of challenges....I have one tomorrow or wait it is 1:20 AM right now so I should say... today.

This Challenge starts when we...My two honestly wonderful Thai staff and I will open up in four hours to get ready for our 6 AM NFL Superbowl Party

That being said after the game no rest for the weary we will then prepare an all you can eat BBQ Buffet for 6 PM and then have A Replay NFL Superbowl Party at 8:00 PM.

I do believe these two gems won't let me down...However, I do need more staff so back to the question at hand "Where do I find & hire good staff?"

I agree, I had two great staff a Husband and wife... I sponsored them with work permits and all the papers 14,000 baht and then they got sweet talked by a so called friend to be house maids for him even though I paid more. Not sure I want to go through all that money and paper work again.

Does anyone have the secret on where and how to find and then keep good local staff... I am fortunate to have to awesome staff now...However, we are in need of more more more.
