  1. The big issue is the parents,  giving a kid a motorbike (or use of) at an early age does not encourage physical activity, they ride to the local 7/11, stuff themselves full of sweets and other crap, then ride home. Not setting a good example, dad is pissed up on Lao Cao by mid afternoon and sleeping , instead of taking the kids out to kick a ball or 2.

Local government & schools do bugger all to promote sports, physical activity & outdoor pursuits. Remember these schools make money from fast food vendors operating on their premises, why would they encourage the kids to do otherwise?

The local eatery in our small town has come up with a novel idea, they have turfed a small area of land behind their restaurant , created a mini football field, every arvo there is 20 odd kids playing football (and none of these kids are porkers) , whilst the parents can sit inside the open air eatery, and enjoy a cold beverage and a meal.

More needs to be done by private businesses  & companies in small and large towns, sponsor a junior sports team or 2 , give them somewhere to play, instigate a competition within the local region.  This will encourage and enhance personal fitness, competitiveness, discipline and team work, all good characteristics for future development.

  2. detaining 72 clearly guilty of having black skin for drug tests.

    'coloured' people?

who writes this stuff? they are not a journalist that's for sure.

who edited this piece? no professional editor would allow this to print.

Well the terms of reference made by the PC brigade do change rather rapidly, it used to be that it was impolite to say black so it was changed to coloured, i think we are back to black now but who knows and in my case who cares.

if it looks like a black duck, walks like a black & quacks like a black duck, then most likely it is a black duck. Unless you're one of the PC crowd !

  3. Strays should be put down (humanely) if no proper home can be found for them. At minimum a sterilisation program should be undertaken.

    Can you explain why?

I know in the south of some stray dogs which are living in the forest, already for some generations. They are wild animals but still friendly to people.

Great idea , just let stray dogs go feral in forested & native land areas , to breed and multiply, hunt in packs killing native animals and livestock alike and posing a significant threat to people specifically children. I vote for you as environment minister !!

  4. It should be kick started again, to ensure that serial sex offenders, child sex offenders and the like never have the opportunity to re offend. Likewise for terrorists, drug traffickers etc. Waiting for the obvious backlash from the lefties, tree huggers and ilk !! Bring it back in Australia as well !

sorry mate, no backlash, us lefty tree huggers have nothing but pity for the simple minded, easily led pauline hansonites. there's more chance of prayuth winning a free and fair election than there is of australia bringing the death penalty back - less than zero. most of us aussies (though clearly not all) are far to decent for such barbarities.

no need to be sorry mate, but save your pity for the victims of crime, generally committed by repeat dangerous offenders who have been let off lightly or not removed from the streets by limp wristed judges and weak policies. By the way I vote Liberal, never been a fan of Pauline (sorry to disappoint!!)

I was told that you are guilty of some of these things and - look - a dodgy court (like the ones in Indonesia, the USA and China that regularly pass down the sentences - and in Thailand) has been convinced of it so you're about to get strung up or shot. Are you okay with that? Because the percentage of innocent people that have been executed over the years is fairly high. What right have you got to say those people need to die to satisfy your primeval urge to retaliate? Maybe it's "leftie" to aspire to live in a world where innocents are not killed by the state for something they didn't do. Because no matter how hard you try to ensure it's not so, it happens. If you're okay with that, I'm not sure you are much different to some of those you want killed.

Coupled with the fact, it simply doesn't work as a deterrent and that in US death penalty states you are more likely to be murdered http://www.deathpenaltyinfo.org/deterrence-states-without-death-penalty-have-had-consistently-lower-murder-rates

No worries Snig, pop a few more happy pills, and go back to la-la land !

  6. Proves the point that some people should just not drink!....Have an ex brother in law that went on a drunk one night.....Stumbled his way, found the kitchen and ate 1/4 gallon of ice cream from the freezer....That's when the homeowner informed him that his house was one block over. Spent the next few days in county jail.

One day that home owner may be a victim of a hit and run, lying in the gutter needing urgent medical assistance. God help them if the only guy around the neighborhood is the guy around the corner they got banged up. Where i come from he would have been ass kicked off the premises but if it was clear he had been drinking and i knew him and i also knew he was not purposely robbing the place i don't think i would have seen him in jail for a few days. Just hope he didn't lose his job also.

If this had happened to a female member of my family, going to jail would be the least of this grub's concerns. Security company management needs to take action as well. Random site visits by supervisors to ensure personnel are conducting themselves in a professional manner are needed ( <deleted> , this is Thailand, silly me !! no chance of standards being enforced by some low rate security provider that hires bottom feeders !)

  7. If African looking people are hanging around street corners for years on end its really not hard to work out what they are doing

yes but in Europe, the police must first check 2 white one hanging around on street corners, before they can check the black one.

Else the police would get punished for being racist. (no joke there is already a law that police checks based on race profiling is illegal. So the police stays at some places sees the black dealer and can't do anything)

Ah. So, you approve of racial profiling ?

What other racist policies do you approve of ?

I am really sickened that this type of threads provides the racists among the forum users to express their bigotry openly.

If a white guy is arrested for drug dealing, there are some bigoted comments, but very few. However, if a black guy gets arrested for it, there are maybe at least five times more of those bigoted comments.

I like this forum in general but the high no. of bigots really turns me off at times.

Surely, condemn drug dealing (I condemn it too) but for phuck's sake, leave your racism out of here !

JemJem he was not being a bigot. He was only stating facts of his counrty. Have a Leo and chill.

JemJem , if it looks like a black drug dealer , walks like a black drug dealer & acts like a black drug dealer , pretty good chance it is a black drug dealer !! Get over your hangups & accept the facts !!

I approve of racial profiling if that profile happens to be committing the crime , same as terrorism , if it's Mid East / South Asians carrying out the attacks , then it's they who should be looked at more strictly !!

  9. Calls for a total ban on all firearms.

Please spare us "the guns fault" bs.

Clearly alcohol and stupidity was at fault

If he didn't have a gun, he couldn't have shot the guy......you understand?

In a place where guns are banned this incident would have ended up in a punch up, perhaps with snooker cues.

Bullshit , banning guns does not stop the blackmarket / illegal trade . If no guns were available , the next option would have been knives , machetes , axes etc , you want to ban these as well ???

  10. The police think he was killed elsewhere and dumped there. Girlfriend just translated from Thai Rath for me. My speculation the scene looked pretty clean aside from the body. Maybe police speculation also.

Saraburi sit's astride main routes to both the North East and North , so many possibilities and reasons as to why he ended up there .

  11. The shooting occurred in front of Viengjan entertainment center Moo 1 Tambon Thanu, Amphur Uthai. When police arrived, a lot of people were backing their cars out of the parking lot to escape the scene.

You would think one of the first responses of the police would be to secure the scene , block the car park exit , at least they would have a chance of tracking suspects down from vehicle registrations ( if they escaped on foot ).

Read on - the first words of the next paragraph - and your comment makes a bit less sense:

"As police officers blockaded the area, the sound of gunshots could still be heard several times."

Fair point , I must have had one too many Leo's by that stage !! ( that's all they sell at the local !!! )
