  1. I wonder if meals during working hours was part of the staff contract - it often is with food related companies as it's an easy way to get value from what might otherwise be waste. (And I don't mean plate scrappings but excess food that is perfectly fine but past the serving time margin used in fast food businesses. That said my experiences of Thai KFC they do not work to the "book" but cook to order in an effort to reduce food waste costs at the expense of prompt service to customers.)

i get question for you: are you cuban?

  2. BUchholz, certainly i ain't a thaksin supporter, in fact i dont want him back, but i dont like abhisit neither, i would prefer to see the PT forming a government(i don't think they will be alloud to) than having abhisit as second term PM.B)

Unfortunately k. Thaksin thinks and PTP does. One goes with the other, no choice. Start looking for a third person :ermm:

you know what, i gonne step down this boat, thai politics are a mess, and at the end it doesnt matter what the members of this forum want to occour cuz we just can't decide which one will the result of the polls be ,so i just gonne let it be ,and wait for it, i think that this is gonne be my last post about politics and politicians, so good luck to all of you and hope the best for you :jap: .

  4. abhisit was given british citizenship by force but if he wants he can stop being a british ctizen with a very simple act :renunciating to the britsih nationality, he doesn't do so cuz having british citizenship is very usefull, expecially if you are a corrupt PM who has not do anyting but increase the debt of this country , plus inflation, plus the price of living, and if you read carefully the thai nationality act you will see that in thailand you can't hold two citizenships, if you get another citizenship you must to reounce to your thai nationality, and if you are a farang you are expected to renounce t you previous citizenship after you get the thai one,the problem is that in the real life almost nobody do so, and dont get me wrong, i am not a thaksin supporter , but definitly i dont like abhisit, one guy who has been in power for almost a complete term and hasn't done anything good, i am hoping for somebody who improve he economy and bring to an end all this boring story of red shirts vs yellow shirts vs democrats:)

So having British citizenship is useful, especially if you are a corrupt PM. The sentence before just happens to mention k. Abhisit been given British citizenship. I guess that will mean you will not be charged with defamation, lucky you. Mind you, most of your post is on k. Abhisit, who is NOT known for being corrupt.

Just rambling along, are we? :ermm:

dude the fact that he's not known as a corrupt PM doesn't mean that he isn't one, and by the way ,having the british citizenship will allow him to get out from thailand in case of having any kind of problemwith the justice, and you soun racist when you said that abhisit is better than thaksin just cuz he has thai citizenship, that mean that for you one british citizen is better that a montenegrin one, that's so sad.....:(

  5. well that's another point, how is it possible that one guy holding british nationality, who was born in british soil, and that was ellected by the parlament , not by the people, can work as PM in a nation in which holding two nationalities is prohibited by law, and btw, thaksin is holdin' a montenegrin passport just cuz the thai government don't want to renew his thai passport,in the other hand abhisit in holding british nationality cuz he wants :(

All PMs are elected by parliament.

Holding two nationalities are not prohibited by law. Nor is it a prohibiting factor to becoming PM.

Abhisit was given British citizenship 'by force' since he was born on British soil. Thaksin voluntarily bought one from Montenegro. I know which one looks worse for most Thai people.

  6. and have Chinese heritage!!! or actually be Chinese :o

that's an interesting point, i really would like to know which of the members of the actual government doesn't have chinese blood, cuz in wikipedia is written that abhisit family are akka chinese

D_amn. Well at least k. Abhisit is British and k. Thaksin Montenegrian ;)

  7. The good thing is we know that the Thailand and its good honest people will never allow this blowhard back into their country and more importantly into their political echelons :whistling:

I see the whistling smiley face, so I assume you're whistling dixie when you wrote that. Sometimes I wish I were a Thai citizen. Then I could run for elected office. I would win, simple - cause all I'd have to do is.......

    >>>> promise forgiveness of debts, particularly to farmers

    and

    >>>> everyone will make a lot more money with me in elected office.

Oh, almost forgot, I'd have to get appointed by one of the big party machines, and in order to get that appointment, I'd have to be from a rich and powerful family. Oh, and I'd have to be a graduate from University (the same Thai style Universities where every student graduates, no matter what). Oh well, I guess having Thai citizenship is not enough to run for office.

  8. Instead of decrying the poll in the North-East shows strong support for the PTP let's have a poll in the South which probably will show an equally strong support for the Democrats.

After those two predictable polls we can start discussing the weather again :whistling:

the polls show an strong PTP in Isaan , but the PTP also has a very strong support in all the North, the central region , and even in bangkok, and if you wanna check it out , just make a trip to ลำลูกกาม and you will see it by urself

  9. Thaksin to me sounds like a smart man. I don't know the details about his "conviction".....could it be that he was railroaded?

Training workers, raise min wage, more rail, crack down on corruption....who can argue against that?

All the small businesses that would go bust. Thailands life blood for the poor.

Anyone that seriously goes after corruption won't live long. But that is the #1 thing they need to do to get rid of their third-world status. It is a shame more Thais don't get a chance to see how civilized countries conduct business !

Thailand doesn't have Third world status.

well the last time that i look to the status of thailand according to it GDP,the result was that thailand is one of the poorest countries in the world :(

  10. for anyone suggesting HIGH TAXES are good, please, STAY OUT OF MY POCKET!

I do not trust any government to take care of me. Eastern, western, high taxes, low taxes, it doesn't matter.

I trust in my family and myself, i do not want the state making choices for me. Taxes not only reduce my bank account, they also reduce my freedom!

The last financial crisis had nothing to do with taxes, it had everything to do with investments banks using their friends in power to steal from the working class. One more reason to keep your own money and not give it to the government. By nature, governments are extension of the people in power and people in power are only people, and all people look out for themselves first. (THAKSIN included!)

20% tax rate seems very reasonable. That means one day out of a five day work week you work for everyone else, donating your efforts to the general good. Isn't that enough? I do not want to pay 1/3 of my income to some boozo in power. No thanks.

High tax = high entitlement countries are not out of the woods by far, they have some troubles ahead. As their population ages compared to their work force, the issue of entitlements become huge.

You cannot tax your way out of everything.

    i agree100% with you B)

  11. I would think the easier tourist visas would be for Chinese tourist, given his audience.

that's right , cuz actually only a few western counties need tourist visa to get in here, what we need are some reforms, for example , to make easier the process of getting permanent recidence visa to all those foreigner that like me , has a thai wife:)

  12. Some interesting ideas though sounding a bit far fetched to me. I love the way Thaksin speaks with the assurance and confidence of an economic guru that seems contemptuous of the world's best (are other countries really struggling because of high taxes - Sweden, Denmark, Norway for example, with the highest standard's of living in the world).

you can't compare sweden, norweay or any of those countries with thailand, thailadn need foreign investment in order of develloping it economy and the way of atracting foreign investors is with lower taxes(and that's a good way of stimulate national producers too) otherwise thailand will be always a third's world country, i dont know what is thaksin planing or even if he's gonne fullfile all these promises but what i do believe is that thailand has all the potencial necessary to become a devellop country in only a few years, the only thing that they need is political stability, and someone with vision and with the commitment of develloping this pice of land for the good of it people, if that someone is gonne be thaksin or not i dont know, but what i do can tell you is that this nation has a lot of potencial;)

  13. hi,everybody,i've been living here in bangkok for around one year right now,and i am extraordinarly missing the turkish cuisine, does someone knows where can i find a turkish restaurant here in bangkok,i am particularly looking for turkish naan bread(i dont like the indian naan).Any advise will be priciated :jap:

  14. Old tactics used by Taksin to try to buy the vote of Thailand's disenfranchised. What good will tablets do for the students? They are computers and students will use them for games.

well if the students use it for games that is going to be their computer so they can use it however they like;in the other hand what i would like to see is if Thaksing is really going to give one computer to each student,i got many classmates who dont have the money to affort one of this machines, and when you are studying at university level, computer becomes a very necessary tool for studyin'.

  15. well i dont know another people's experience, but i have been living here for one year now and it is almost impossible to find a good thai language school,in the most of them you are only gonne spend your money and probably afeter attending three month still no able to read, i advise you to buy the boocks THAI language the autor name is Benjawan Poomsan Becker(that its a serie composed of three boocks thai for beginners, thai for intermediate learners, and thai for advanced readers) and the other necesary thing that you should do in order to learn thai properlly is to get a thai girlfriend.learning thai is not difficoult so go ahead :jap:

  16. well i doubt that mr abhisit really said that, cuz if he do so he's offending the whole nation, i dodn't think that the problem is that thai student are stupids, instead i think the the problem is that thai educational system need to be changed. currently i am styudying at one of the best univercities of the Kingdom, the 99 % of my classmates are thai since i am one of the few farang in our school taking the normal course for thai student(it means that all our classes are in thai) and i know a few students that are very smart and very clever too but i most to confess that the most of the students that i know have recieved a really bad education at primary and secondary levels so it is imposible that they can pass our nurmal courses as for example calculus, the univercity knows that, and that's why they force the teacher to "puch up" my fellows classmates ,so the get their degrees withough having the most basic knowledge about their mayors. in my opinion, the main problem is the system, not the students.:jap:

  17. They might want to rethink their "no fail" policy then and make the kids actually work at what they are doing, rather than paying for their "certificates" - i realize that is a "blanket" statement.

no fail policy due to be phased out in 2012, or so I'm told by a very high placed and respected teacher[my wife]

well,if so i think that no-one of my thai classmates is gonne get a degree, cuz they are studying accountings but they can even make a simple division like 0.78/6.97 B)

  18. ...

and i would like to see some reforms in the inmigration laws of the country too(regarding to this i dont think that thaksin is gonne change anything) cuz i think that this country should relax it policies regarding to thouse foreigner who have thai families and are living here.

None of the political parties has 'foreign welfare' high on it's priority list. Don't hold your breath on this one unless your rich of course ;)

i dont have any hope of thaksin making change or anyother party, thats why i just dont care, anyways i dont have any problem just hope that thai people dont start to kill each other, that's all:)

  19. well, in fact many farang support thaksin, here , the most of the anti-thaksin comemts come from the thais who work for the gov. or for those who make this kind of report that obviouslly is 100%anti-thaksin, i am not interested in politics, but in the place in which i live most of the people suport him, in deed the streeds'wall are full of "คิดถึงทักษีณ"="we miss thaksin",and the most of the people here know how many good things he has done for his country, the only problem is that the mayority of the thai people who post in this forum belongs to the high class with money and who are able to speak english, but in the university the i hear, evereday, thai students talking about thaksin and remembering those past years in which food wasnt so expensive as now and the echonomy was more much better;)

but i repeat, i am not interest in politics, i prefer my simple life, and good iced leo beer;)

Many farang may support k. Thaksin, many more don't (statistically this probably adds up to 127% ;) ).

I also do remember the good years with my father disagreeing and listing the years he remembers and my grandfather ...

Food prices have risen, but that has nothing to do with this government or k. Thaksin, global issue. Same with the economy, global downturn became visible to all in 2008, tsunami in Japan has some effect now, US government debt and stability of the $, North African and Middle East fights, soaring oil and gold prices. Does anyone really believe under k. Thaksin things would be better at this very moment?

i dont know if things are gonne be better if thaksin returns here, and i am not a politician, i just felt that was necessary to make clear that not all the farang are agaisnt him, me myself i just want to see that thai people's echonomical sistuation improves and i would like to see some reforms in the inmigration laws of the country too(regarding to this i dont think that thaksin is gonne change anything) cuz i think that this country should relax it policies regarding to thouse foreigner who have thai families and are living here.
