  1. I can understand the outrage in many of the posts here. But please don’t call it stupidity. After all Mao killed way more people than Hitler and was celebrated by Andy Warhol. We called that art.

Maybe the wide use of Hitler’s image is more of a way for Thais to be provocative regarding the so-called western superiority often expressed in these pages.

  2. Hi,

I am also looking for a grass shredder to prepare compost. There is one shop in Bangkok selling those too-big-for-what i-need shredders: http://www.alizonna.com/%E0%B9%80%E0%B8%84%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%B7%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%AD%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%9A%E0%B8%94%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B4%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%87%E0%B9%84%E0%B8%A1%E0%B9%89-%E0%B8%A2%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%AD%E0%B8%A2%E0%B8%81%E0%B8%B4%E0%B9%88%E0%B8%87%E0%B9%84%E0%B8%A1%E0%B9%89-6.5%E0%B9%81%E0%B8%A3%E0%B8%87%E0%B8%A1%E0%B9%89%E0%B8%B2-GCES6580/AL/8665

I found out that the Chinese manufacturer also makes some smaller machines which would be better suited for me: http://www.chijiang.com/Product_Detail.asp?ID=754 but could not locate a supplier in Thailand.

Have you ever come accross those or similar shredders in your research?

    Thanks,

    Eric

  3. People. A 'hit' rate of nearly 50% would suggest that this was hardly a "random" search. They knew where to look and who to look for.

Unless you all believe that a 50% hit rate is a fair representation of the number of foreigners taking drugs...

Personally I despise the "guilty until proven innocent" approach and would suggest that these tests were a rampant violation of human rights - but at the end of the day it's their country. That said, "if you want to get high, do it elsewhere" is not an unreasonable message...

50% hit? if beer is considered a mind altering substance, a drug, well 50 seems a rather low figure.

  4. Thanks for the link. Yes i mean Arachis Pintoi, apparently called brazil nut in Thai although this is not brazil nut. Innoculant? I have been looking around but did not find local supplier yet. Interestingly, i read in this forum some guy growing beans (various kinds) with plants developing good nodules (pink inside) without innoculant. Some rhizobium might be present naturally.

    Cheers. Hermeric

  5. After nearly 20 years in Bangkok, I feel I need a bit of fresh air. A Thai friend of mine of mine “gave me” (30 years lease) a 5 rai piece of land in Chonburi province, just bordering Chachoengsao. So the idea is to gradually develop it into an organic garden/orchard.

The land includes a few fruit trees (mango, rambutan, rose apple) and about one rai of old dragon fruits that I am thinking of getting rid of. The rest of the land was used to grow cassava for the last season.

For this year, I am thinking of keeping the fruit trees and plant the land with legume. The idea is to minimize the work to keep the weeds away and bring a bit of nitrogen to improve the soil. Searching this forum and other web resources I read about legumes like thua lisong tao (ถั่วลิสงเถา) or brazil nuts (ถั่วบราซิล). I would be much interested to learn from estimated members of this forum regarding these or other legumes in Thailand. I would also be interested to buy seeds to plant about 3-4 rai of the stuff.

I would also be interested in any organic farm experience in Chonburi/Chachoengsao or lower Esarn region to visit. Thanks
