  1. I live in Korat and haven't been to BKK for 3 years now. Curious to know if the Sky Train has a  connection to the bus route from Korat at this time. Before I would take a taxi from Mochit to  Sukumvit.. Does the Sky Train now go out to Don Mueng? How about departing the bus at Don Mueng and catch the Sky Train on in? Is it walking distance from where the bus drops you off at Don Mueng to the Don Mueng BTS. Any other suggestions? Thank you.

  3. Has anyone bought from One Stop Dive Centre LTD? I deposited money in their bank yesterday for a small purchase and have not received confirmation that they received it. They also don't return my email & texts. The ph # they provide goes to a voice mail and they have not returned my call. Thanks.

  4. I am purchasing an older Jeep vehicle from another farang.  He is the original owner. When we took it to the inspection station to transfer title, we discovered that the engine ID tag was not on the engine.  We can't locate the engine ID. Yes, it is part of the VIN, however that is not good enough for Thai DMV. They need to see a tag or stamp on the engine block. There must be some way around this situation. Has anybody ever encountered this? If so, the remedy is???? Thanks.

  5. Nope.

Thailand is 3-phase, 4-wire, 220V phase-neutral, there is no 115V anywhere in the system.

    You need a transformer.

It is not all 3 phase 4 wire. I have single phase 2 wire. 3 phase was installed to the poles about 5 months ago, but not brought to existing houses. But I do believe you are correct about not being able to split it as we do in America. Thanks

  6. I have some American 120V appliances. In America all houses have 240V to the breaker panel. Then only one leg of that is used for normal wall outlets and lights at 120V. We use both legs for things such as electricd range, hot water heaters, clothes driers etc at 240V. My question is: Can this be done in Thailand? I understand it would still be only 50 cycle instead of 60 cycle. I am trying to avoid use of a stepdown transformer.. Note: My house has only 2 cables coming in from the pole. Single phase, but 3 phase is on the poles. Thanks

  7. The melting pot of <deleted> on this forum is what astounds me

An American named Karta Singh Harta. Hmmm. New one on me.

Indeed his name was not Sitting Bull or Gernonimo or any other real American who were exterminated by the whites stealing their land.

Quite hypocritical to call an other who has not one of your white names not a real American. I was always told America was a melting pot of cultures and people. Guess I was misinformed.

  8. Why is an autopsy required, I think the cause of death is quite clear.

In Thailand, they actually have to perform an autopsy so they really do know you are dead.

Can't speak for any other country, but in America, anyone who dies outside of a hospital is usually autopsied.

  9. Mr Wisoot was carrying a .22 caliber gun, with Mr Nares walking behind him.

Unusual to go hunting with a handgun.

If the bullet entered from the back of the head.......definitely suicide.

Who mentioned a handgun? But even so, it is not unusual to go hunting with a handgun. I have done so many times myself.

  10. My situation is similar to Billd here. I'm 68 yrs old...live 3 clicks ouside Kahm Sakae Saeng...has a mini Tesco....7-11.....no bank....45 clicks to Korat. I love it. I have a rai of land...a small shop for hobbies....I go fishing....play with my dog..And I don't have to put up with the half baked farangs....Not for everyone....but works for me.

I can't help you about Roi Et but I can on the rest. I will be 70 in May and I live 6 km from the big village in a moo ban in Khampaeng Phet province backing on to the Mae Wong national park. I have lived out here for 10 years and rarely see a farang week in or week out. If you have an internet connection Skype is almost as good. The big village has a 7/11 and a bank and I go to Khampaeng Phet once a month for a bulk shop at BigC and Makro.

My MIL lives in a small house on the site and speaks absolutely no English at all, my wifes English is fair but from next week she and a couple of friends are starting a small restaurant 6 km away so I wion't see that much of her during the day. We have a 9 year old son whoseEnglish is coming on fine but during school term he goes to school in KPP plus a 17 year old nephew who has a job at the national park and is about 50% as intelligent as a tree but not as much use.

If you read get loads of books or a Kindle reader, write your life story if only for yourself, learn to cook, exercise a little every day, use the internet to learn at least 2 new things a day. I do all this and I sometimes wish I had more time. Find a friend and there are a lot of us about, read the Isaan forum on TV here http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/forum/32-isaan-forum/

Leave all the stress and hassle of city life behind and take life easy as it comes.

Country life is great. I only go to cities when I really HAVE to.

Good luck and remember you know you can do it.
