  1. Not defending the actions of the driver by any means but didn't the guy agree to 150 then offer 100. Probably not a good idea in any foreign country over 50 baht.

I'd have to agree here. Anwar and the driver agreed to 150 baht for the ride, and then after services were rendered, Anwar wanted to offer less. And if it's true that he escalated the situation further by being rude and kicking the driver, then I'm not surprised at the eventual outcome.

I'm sort of happy that people like Anwar won't be returning to Thailand for their holidays.

what i hope, is that people like you are living in Phuket and staying forever there.

Do not come to polute Isan with thought like this!

always trying to find excuses to these phuket tuk tuk wanke_rs.....

i am sure you are living in Phuket.

Phuket is a s..t hole, we all know this!

Hope they will not have the idea to come to Isan! Hope Phuket will keep all its mafia!

  3. "...it's only a diesel, because in Thailand they sell only diesel trucks"

Are you saying all trucks are diesel, or just all Ford trucks?

I have a Thai friend who ordered a gasoline engined truck because he we going to be crossing mountains often. I forget which brand it was.

    -----------------------------

"It is a ranger open cab."

What do you mean by 'open cab'?

    Terry

Toyota and Mitsubishi are available with gasolineengine too. Thirsty and lazy. Only reason to get one is to have it conversted to CNG or LPG.

Open cab in Ford terms means 2+2 doors.. Toyota calls it smart cab

Open cap is the one with the suzide doors, not a real 4 door truck. 300'k isn't really a bargain, because it's a Ford and i guess it's a manual gear, but it's a good price. So far as i see i never saw a Pick Up with a Petrol engine, unless it was changed later to a 1 or 2 JZ engine, wich they use to doo, during the high Dieselfguel prices 2 years ago. The only Petrol engine i know it s 2.7 liter 4 banger in the Toyota Fortuner, they do, but this is not what i talking about. I never saw that engine in a Truck, but maybe you can order it. But this isn't what i mean. 4 cylinder is 4 cylinder, diesel or petrol, but still a 4 banger. I know the todays diesel are quite powerful with all the commonrail, torbo and intercooler technonlgy. They got 14o to 150 horse power. But a normal 2JZ Petrol engine, 3 liter with no turbo and no intercooler comes already to 225 horsepower and the fuelconsumtion isn't much higher. So if you have a 3 liter 2JZ, turbo intercooler you come nearly to 300 hp, double the power of a 3 liter turbo and intercooled diesel. Not only this, Petrol engines are much smother than a diesel. We are in the car rental business, therefore i have to buy diesel anyway, but for my personal choice i would only consider a V8. There is no way to buy a V8 Truck in Thailand, but the only way to drive one, is to build one, maybe with a 1 UZ engine.

Done: 1uzfe in a toyota Tiger 1999, i would not change for an other one!

  4. Balou, did you hear of the 1GZ-FE ? Toyota's 5.0 V12. That would be nice if you could find one.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_GZ_engine

    Cheers

Yes of course!!! i asked for all kind of engines from V8-up.

For the moment in chiangkongs Bkk, we can find only 1uz, 2uz and 3uz. BUT i got plans with some friends to buy directly in japan, half cuts, cheaper for example 2uz in Bkk too expensive, in Jp half cut LC100 is far less than 100000bt.

Last time missed 1 LC100, complete (engine and gears on the side), year post 2003, full option, 100000bt!!!

Have to know the right person (good friend of chiangkongers) and see them, they even propose to me to buy directly in Jp for me. Now have to see...

    and wait UR engines!!!

  5. In Pattaya a letter of residence from Immigration is all that is required plus copies of passport.

    That's it mate!

had 3 cars and 2 motorbikes on my name, no problems.

Still got 2 cars and a motorbike, still not having any problems.

In all changwat: letter of residence from your embassy with certified translation OR letter of residence from immigration.

Buriram and Korat accepted the letter from embassy at all times.

  6. What kind of rubbers are on there?

That's a fair bit of power/torque to put on the street, especially on a truck with virtually no load on the rear axle (unless you chuck in some cement bags :) )

Not sure, but is this the pre '97 model (i.e. without the variable valve timing)?

Apparently, the non VVTI continued to be produced. Following the serial number it appears to be a 99.

But you'r right the VVTI arrived in 97.

Next project: an other pich-up 4x2, recent, with a 3uz VVTI, may be 2UR GSE engine if i can find this in japan (half cut)

    Cheers

  7. Hi Guys, sorry for the late repply! :D

    where to start?...

    The costs:

1uz fe after 1995 (mine is year 99 non VVTI, with gear 4 auto) 35000bt, if in good shape, VVTI will cost the same price but with anti start system problem if the original key and start switch is not provided.

OR 1 uz fe pre 1995 25000bt, may be less now.

brakes: front , origin Toyota V8 car, 4 pots, adaptation wheel 6 studs to be similar as rear axle, 12000bt

rear : isuzu 2 pots, origine trooper, with internal drum hand brake (land cruiser 80 style)

rear axle Isuzu, differential D Max/Colorado 4WD 100% auto lock 15000bt (100% lock only at GM!)

Dash board to suit electronic stuff ... 8000bt

Stainless steel exhaust (X) 2-1-2 to equalize exhaust pressures on both manifold encrease power and keep torque, 15000bt

LPG system, complte, injection, Euro standard, 65000bt (just to stay safe) gas tank intalled under the bed opposite to the petrol tank.

Radiator, home made dual core, engine cooling (3/4 top) + gearbox cooling (1/4 bottom)

Fan: hydraulic, original toyota v8, + electric for Air cond (never overheat!)

    wheels and tyres: 18", front 245/45, rear 265/35 , 1 complete set 45000bt

Book registration changed to lpg/95 with engine number and cc.

Fully street legal here in Thailand

all this cost about 200000bt, but what the pleasure!

It goes straight even full trottle! Thanks isuzu!

the speed is limited to 180km/h (4500 rpm)

    It brakes strong.

    Just an expensive toy.

    I don't care, hapiness doesn't have price. :)

I will come back with the brand of the rubbers, i know the back ones are little bit special, but they grip a lot!

  8. It means you can not get the normal 30 days that a tourist visa entry can be extended. But you will get a 90 day entry each time. You have to leave after 90 days but can immediately return for a new 90 day period. If you qualify for a one year extension of stay you can apply during the last 30 days or any entry.

Sorry for the lack of details!! I've got a multi entry one year non immigrant O visa.

This should allow me to entry and exit all time desired and do not exceed 90 days at each stay, isn't it?

i was worry about renew the 1 year multi entry after expiration.

I had the same type of visa about 6 years ago, there was not this stamp on.

hope it is not a stamp to turn the 1 year visa in a 90 days?

sorry for this kind of simple questions.

  9. i have a friend who's working in a factory in Bangkok (Rangsit), she saw UDD people coming and proposing 200 Baht a day to join protesters.

Seems that some of the "today" red was certainly yellow yesterday. But i heard that yellow was paying uo to 450 a day.

    amazing Thailand!

this will never end like this.

Election???? same shit, they buy votes 500 baht...never ending story.

  10. Organizers of the prolonged raid on the Bangkok international airport have insisted that they will bring down the government at any cost. In targeting the airport they have taken a dramatic strategic step and have also made a move of enormous symbolic importance.

Suvarnabhumi Airport represents modern Thailand. The new airport was a huge project aimed not only at cementing the country’s commercial place in Asia but also at demonstrating how far it has come by comparison to most of its immediate neighbors.

Under normal circumstances, legions of security personnel would have protected the terminal, accompanied by the dire warnings of senior officers about anyone thinking to damage national prestige with funny business that might upset foreign tourists and businesspeople. Under normal circumstances, the police would have quickly moved to prevent or end any seizure, just as they did when protests occurred on government premises against the interim military regime last year.

A very good article above and in fact very true; can the PAD monster be put back in the bottle even if the will is there.

My husband has had a different theory to mine viz the PAD motives and it could be he has been totally correct. A very scary thought.

    http://ratchasima.net/

I suggest to anyone to read interesting articles here about the PAD leaders: http://ratchasima.net/

A part of Thailand history, i am very surprise that they have so many protesters.

then...As we cannot have and write any opinion here.

If the PAD is elected, i will seriously look after leaving the country. Anyway i am already looking for.

  11. I called KL and they said :" the multi entries visa non Immigrant O is issued only to work permit owners. For all others a single entry is issued"

That was yesterday!! i explain all i could, maried.... they will give me a single only.

Eh? :oAre you/they sure about this? I mean, an O is not intended for business purposes!!! 'O' is for others and not for business or education etc.

yes i am sure of that!!

I ask for a multi entry non O visa based on mariage, then he asked me if i had a work permit, i said NO, as i work outside Thailand Offshore, then he replied that i can only have a single entry. I asked again and he confirm that even married to a Thai national i can ONLY get a single or a multiple if i own a work permit.

i called here : + 60321488222 the visa service in KL.

    :D
