  1. Robbery: act of extorting valuables from the victims by force using direct violence or treat of inflicting direct violence

Theft: act of taking another person's property or services without that person's permission or consent with the intent to deprive the rightful owner of it.

I would have been a robbery only if the guy had went into the house blazing a gun or machete in front of the tenants, demanding money and stuffs or else...

I'm actually not in thailand at the moment but considering getting married there and starting a business there. Probably on the futurewife's name and i'd just work there(i'm assuming this would cover the working and paying taxes requirements, correct?).

If I were you, I would seriously reconsider this plan and do some research first on how things work in Thailand "in practice" before getting yourself into anything.

Live here for 30 Years, have seen them come and go.

A big blow to democracy? What democracy?
Do you mean democracy when rich people buying their way in politics through vote buying, they promised everything just to stay in power and enrich themself.

I was really happy that the army was there to take them out, again and again.

The last 6 years were for me the most peaceful time in 30 years here, no protests of any color, red, yellow, no dead people, no burning of the city, no corruption.
There is a billionaire again, what you expect?

    Democracy? Good luck!

Would the law apply if thats on private property?

Of course it would. Protection of other's health an life and the obligation for operating dangerous machinery with common sense has priority over protection of people's right on their private property.

Well, at least in countries where rule of law is somewhat enforced and you are not in a country where people can shot you for trespassing.

You realize that there is a difference between western countries and Thailand?

Western countries have a social security system which provides a better life even to illegal people than the life many Thai citizens have in Thailand. A Thai could also earn more money by working illegally in such a country than he could back home. So obviously they want to know that the person will return back to Thailand after their visit, because a Thai citizen might just decide to stay and enjoy the better life.

Thailand on the other side, doesn't provide anything in this regard, so somebody from a western country would return home if he doesn't have money anymore, there is no reason why this person would have to show any proof that he will return home.

Not to mention that in the western countries they don't restricts 95% of the jobs you could qualify for otherwise to only the local citizens.

These kinds of comparisons are quite unintelligent.

  6. The fact that you left your home country where you were socialized to have perception of man-woman relationship that is on a somewhat more modern/developed level and came to a place which has social structure and values that the other side of the world had 200-300 years ago doesn't mean you have to abandon all you have been taught before and accept everything here as part of the host culture.

Just consider how you would think about similar situation in your home country. Usually people pay salary for other people in return for some service or employment. If your girl ask for salary from you and does no other thing for you than being your girlfriend then she is a prostitute.
