  1. Just checked on this one, you did really REALLY well, duplex usually 10k, now 6,500thb

    30sq Meter rooms are 2950thb

Think I'll give this one a try, cheers ...
Latestays.com is a good site to check. Have a look at the brand new S31 Hotel on the corner of Sukhumvit Rd and Soi 31. I stayed there last month for a couple of nights in a Duplex room - living room / kitchenette downstairs with bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Two LCD TVs, Huge bed - 8 foot wide. Floor to ceiling windows with cracking views. Well worth 2,750 / night. Pool's a bit odd - it has a plexiglass wall - like watching a human fishtank. Breakfast wasnt the best as there was only a couple of dozen guests - but the chef would knock up pretty much anything you wanted if you asked him. Under 5 mins walk to Emporium & BTS.

  3. Check lastminutestays or Agoda or similar online booking websites.

Yeh I did but thought cos of Blood being strewn around the place there might be a few non-listed specials...

I remember President Solitaire (formally my usual stay cos of the large beds) did 2-4-1 a while back but only listed on their own website ...

  4. Well it was quite simply really, my Foreign Exchange Transaction forms said "Investment"

My solicitor just asked me to request the bank to re-issue them stating "For purchase of Condominium in the name or Mr SLeesy"

I have, they re-issued them and my solicitors says once he gets the originals we can complete the purchase ...

  5. Thanks for tips Gents...

Here's an option from a Thai Solicitor who I respect ....

open a US currency non-resident bank account with a foreign bank in Bangkok such as HSBC, Standard Chartered. Then, you find a way to move your cash into that non-resident bank account and then withdraw it with a purpose to buy [ ] condominium. Please get a letter from the bank to confirm about the purpose of withdrawal.

But it's a 5 Million purchase so I'll lost 100k in when changing currencies and back ...

  6. Dear All,

I have cash from previous (fully tax paid) company business deals in Thailand.

I'd like to buy a condo with this cash....

BUT I'm thinking I'll have to send the cash abroad

and then send it back to Thailand in a foreign currency

to get the relevant Foreign Exchange Transaction form and purchase the condo....

    Any alternatives ?

    Best Regards

  7. Dear All,

I've read lots of threads on how to get money back home (UK) after bringing it in to Thailand.

One option being a Singapore or KL run with a few mates and taking $20,000 each time/each mate.

Bank it with HSC Singapore and send from there. (Has anyone donethis OK?)

Another route being using ATMs abroad.

I have 4 Bank of Ayudhya accounts/ATMs I could use, has anyone used theirs in the UK and if so

how much could you take out each transaction or each day and what were the costs ?

    Many thanks ...

    Regards,

    Sleesy.

PS I've been trying the normal route for 5 weeks now and Bank of Thailand just keep stalling ....

  8. Great view indeed, I'm thinking of buying on the 16th floor, what floor are you on ?

    ...

I have a 1 bedroom with a huge balcony on level 16 with un interupted views over the city on the Nana side.

    ...

You forgot to mention your view includes an abandoned construction site named Regent, a 30 story eye sore.

No mate, thats way down the other side.

    This is my view :)

  9. Yup point was the website being the worst....

My dates are extremely flexible unlike the Thai Airways website ...

BA website and prices preetty good ...showed the available date for 1 week and costs for each day...

Total for 2 adults one kid was 105,000thb

AirAsia X Premium would be an option if you lived in KL but I live in Phuket and it would involve a KL stopover in both directions...

So next think to look at is:

If I book BA, can I check in my bags with THAI at Phuket and then not see them again til LHR ...

And likewise on the return leg or when at Suvanabhumi do you have to collect them, go through immigration&customs, go up a couple of floors check in and load the bags with Thai

If NOT can you do that with THAI ie ThaiAirways Phuket-Heathrow in both directions ...

  10. I specified ECONOMY...

It says cant find that fare on that date so have these mate !

Hence in my book a pants website/system !

Point being the website should at least show you what dates economy is available

Eva Air is pretty much as useless, but they just return sorry not available, so you just keep checking dates til a date comes up...

How hard is it for them to show a matrix of dates available as per the case of many budgey airlines !

  11. So gonna take the Mrs and Master Tiger back to UK for the month of August.

How much do you reckon for 2.5 Economy tickets on Thai Airways Website..

    100,000thb or more

    200,000thb or more

    300,000thb or more

This could go on for a while ...

    Nope the answer is :

    Price

    Travellers Flights Taxes

    2 adult(s) x (178,700.00 + 11,325.00) = 380,050.00 THB

    1 child(ren) x (133,270.00 + 11,325.00) = 144,595.00 THB

total for all travellers 524,645.00 THB

Strange and there was me thinking this was SUMMER Season ...

    Cheers

    Sleesy

PS/BTW Anyone booked a good deal back to UK for August, Malaysia Airlines /EVA was looking best so far

  12. Posted this in a Phuket forum but just wondered if anyone else around Thailand had had good or bad experiences recently ...

    (SEE BELOW)

Does a Power of Attorney so I don't have to attend make any difference as there's still 49% Farang Shareholders ...

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just to try and get some responses again...

Has noone been to any of the Phuket Land offices this year to BUY or SELL Land...in the past 6 months ?

Has anyone bought or sold land via POA's even...in the past 12 months ?

(I was down the Land office yesterday but hid in the car most of the time...except when I needed the loo so went in the other building where I believe people who get married have to go)

Actually I felt the same as I did (quite) a few years back sitting outside the Headmaster's office for chucking a shoe through a window !

    Cheers,

    Sleesy.

  13. I have a Thai that I setup 4.5 years ago to purchase some land.

I'm now about to sell the land/or Company

If I sell the land via transfer at land office then taxes are due ie SBT/Stamp/Transfer etc

If I "sell" the company as such ie transfer shares to new owners then no taxes such as SBT/Stamp/Transfer etc but some transfer costs.

But both will incur a Capital Gain/Income and therefore liable to taxes.

I will be checking with my accountants this week, just wondered if someone had looked into this themselves recently and found if one method significantly better than the other...

    Regards, S.

  14. Got some friends coming over Xmas time they are looking two bedroom accomodation for about ten days anywhere in Phuket, anybody got any idea of something suitable for a family of four and not costing the earth (if possible).

    Thanks,

  15. Hi Lopburi3,

I used the Embassy in London and provided :

    Company Documents,

a letter on my Company Letterhead signed by me

a covering letter from solicitors McEvily & Collins

I was more concerned on the validity/legality of being in Thailand on a non-Immigrant B without a WP but being Director/Shareholder in MY company...

Although I don't actually do ANY work...

    Cheers

    Sleesy

  16. Gents,

I'll be heading back to UK for a couple of months in June.

I used to have non-Immigrant B and WP then forgot my re-entry permit at Suvanabhumi last year so had to start from scratch.

SO Last summer whilst I was in the Uk I got a non-Imm B.....

But for the past year I've had the non immigrant B but no WP!

I don't actually work in Thailand just have a company that owns a plot of land.

If I was to apply for non-Imm B again in the UK, but not apply for WP, is this gonna end in tears ?

    Cheers,

    Sleesy.
