  1. Ok thanks I am starting to get a much better picture thank you all. My situation is basically I shut my business 18 months ago in Thailand. I now work 4 months and 4 months in the UK with extended holiday's between per year. You will understand that after 10 years permanently together it is difficult. What I am trying to achieve is 6 months in UK together. 3 months alone in UK and then 3 months in Thailand together. It's costly with 2 extended holiday's as I am self employed. I will make this clear as part of the application. Would supporting evidence from my landlady help along with evidence from her work. She works for family so they will be helpful and the landlady will help. We have been good payers for 10 years.

  2. She works in a restaurant/bar but is paid cash in hand. We have lived in the same house for 10 years but no rent book or contract so how to prove to the embassy.

You are better off doing all of the paperwork and Internet application for her.

Does she have a job? That is one of the best reasons to return but if you can prove that you have lived together for that length of time you shouldn’t have a problem.

  3. Thank you all. Just a few more. 1) Can I complete the online process from the UK as she is not very technical, doesn't have an e mail. Just send me copies and keep originals. 2) What would I need as proof of relationship. We have lived together for 10 years in Thailand but nothing as formal as a marriage. Friends on Facebook is weak. I sent her money when I returned to the UK last September. Can't think of much else other than references.

  4. Is there a step by step guide anywhere to apply for a 6 month holiday for the girlfriend to the UK next year. I will be back in Thailand in January to make the application. I lived in Thailand for 15 years and we have been together 11 years. I have always returned alone due to financial reasons so never been on this side of a visa application before. Any help would be much appreciated. TIA.
