Any one who has been on a tourist visa and is living here has had it good in the past, instead of being grateful that they have been allowed to stay they complain when the authorities decide to impose the law, typical glass half empty people.

If you have red plates check they have a small emboss in the bottom right hand corner, if not they are fake

I had these on mine until the white ones were issued, 3 months, I only ever had a problem when I went out of Chonburi and was stopped on the expressway in BKK, I thought the boy in brown was joking so I called Isuzu chonburi while he was there and they simply said yes fakes!! 2000 baht if you want real ones..

Paid my fine and went on my way, think it was the end of the month.

I have been using a guy called Khwann in Pattaya for about 5 years for my computer repairs, he is very reliable and great rates, if anyone wants his number PM me, I am not sure on the rules on posting numbers on the forum.

He has worked on simple modem changes up to a 40 PC network and server installation in BKK form me so I know he is ver capable.

His rates are excellent.

He is highly reccomended, very up to date on all the latest virus and worms etc

One Node in South Pattaya has been down, I managed to get it out of them after 20 or so phone calls to *997, they said they were replacing something this week.

Hi Net do have an out going mail serevr it is mail.cis.catelecom.com however it is contsantly black holed by the MAPS black hole as they have no idea how to configure the mail server properly and it is open to spam abuse. So its not much good really.

I take back my post on HINET from CAT total rubbish the past week or so, they tell me know that they are allowing 50 users per port which means even if it were true 2mbs you would still be connecting at 50k the same as a dial up.

If anyone can reccomend a decent ADSL in pattaya about 3500 baht a month I would be grateful.

I was offered a list with 4-5 ISP's, each ISP with a number of different packages. The cheapest option with international access was 1500 THB/month. There was some options for 900 but they were national access only - is that what you got?

Definately international access, I signed up 2 months ago so maybe it was an offer however I dont recall them saying this, this is tt&t line with Hinet package which is a TOT service.

Ive had it a few months, my number would not take it so the girls in carefour gave me a new number 3k baht

There is a system called Hinet they are offering, 900 baht a month 2mps but 5 users can connect to the same port so it can be slower than 2mps.

I'm really pleased with it its an always on connection for 900 baht a month.

You will need to find an outgoing mail server as the one they give you with the hinet package has been blackholed for spam and they do not have a secondry one they tell you.

Overall its a lot faster than any of the dial ups and cheaper if you leave it in all day..

I was requested to post everything as well, I was also aprehensive however I decided to give it a go and sent a 26 page folder with passports and ID cards etc via TNT, (UPS do not do local deliveries) I enclosed a covering letter with my phone number rather than my GF's.

48 hours later they called to ask if I would like to collect or should they post the completed visa'a and passports back to us. I decided to collect and did not even have to wait inline, just went straight inside and they gave us it all completed.

All very smooth

The only thing I wish would change is if someone could get those little kids off the street selling stuff late at night. It just is not safe for them.

As far as everything else goes, I am on holiday from the time I step off the plane until I return home I have one huge smile. I love the difference's (sidewalk shops, the smells, the bikes) I dont get this kind of thing at home, with all the regulations.

Not sure how long you have been here but i've seen plenty of change in th 8 years I have been here. And I am sure if you ask many who have been here a while they will tell you the same.

Beach rd had virtually no lights on the beach side 8 years ago, the ones being installed now are the second set of new ones in the past 3 years.

I can't ever remember seeing a bike on the pavement, and as your mother must have told you always look both ways before crossing the road and you won't have a problem.
