  1. The scene in 'NL's Vacation' where Chevy Chase is trying to convince Rusty that the naked girl in the pool with him was a waitress come to take his order

'Do you think Mom will buy it?'

'Life Of Brian' The stoning scene amongst so many others. 'Making it worse for myself???.........'

'The Big Lebowski' When asked if he's employed...'This is a work day?'

  2. Larry's Dive- wouldn't walk 100 yds to that place when I lived nearby.

Titanium has up and down nights although again rarely go in- nice looking girls though.

Do frequent O'Reillys in Silom (am I the only one on here who can spell it :o )?

Afternoon in the Down Under on 7/1 a couple of times a week.

Like the Star Bar in Pattaya on Walking St for watching the talent go to work.

  3. I would say the 'Silver Dollar' is an ex pats pub as it is well- full mostly of Ned's regular ex Pats despite the fact the girls will do almost anything for a bar fine.

I mentioned a similar bar 'Flaming Moe's' as again the place has a real pub feel but some of the girls will bar fine. The vast majority of the regulars are ex pats.

Can see the difference obviously between say these bars and the Londoner etc although one of the Offshore girls did ask me to take her home when last in there-same as O'Reillys in Silom.

  4. Don't think anyone has mentioned The Dubliner. Always liked the place although Brenda and Ivan recently departed-

Agree re The Robin Hood- a real drab feel I think-like one of these new UK pubs.

Ray's pies are poor at the Offshore agree. Am quite surprised as he is in a darts league with another ex Pats pub on Soi 22, 'Flaming Moe's' a british owned bar that has excellent pies- shifts them by the dozens when I've been in. Very small place though in the Plaza.

    Winking Frog- wouldn't bother

  5. Was as comfortable win as could be expected I thought. Re the boo-ing, yes out of order but you hear it all over the world, Parc de Princes in particular from personal experience. Doesn't make it any better for us though.

England dominated and could have scored 3 or 4 more. Robinson a spectator.

Ireland were excellent. Bit disappointed they didn't take all 3 points in the end. Bartez a lucky boy.

Clinton Morrisson was a real hanfdful until he got injured.

  6. :D Quality Pat.

Girlfriend of mine once asked the cashier in a shop at Atlanta airport if they sold fags.

'If you want a fag-get yourself downtown honey' he said.

Always remember Marge telling Homer 'Don't shake your huge fanny in public'

    Lost in translation :o

  7. Yeah they've done ok the last couple of years but started the group poorly. A defeat tomorrow will leave them with a lot to do.

Won't be easy but can't see England slipping up, you never know, Wales do have some real talent.

Was expecting them to have maximum points from Azerbaijan and NI but didn't look particularly good in either.

As long as Cardiff stay where they are i'll be happy :o

France v Republic should be interesting. Hopefully they can snatch a point.

  8. Only a little fella myself and always beng told off about my eating habits....or lack of them. Do tend to eat once a day, usually late at night. Do like a nice place to go though.

Have to agree Dr B re the improving quality of restaurants. Always look for folks opinions on these boards and often give them a try as a result. Any suggestions please feel free to pass on.

The corner of Langsuan you mentioned a fave. I do like Pattys Fiesta in Patpong.........love Mexican food.I t's more the place than the food I enjoy there though. I know the waitress well, she joined us on a night out once and the fella who sings is a real fun bloke. The food is ok at best but do go there about twice a week.

Please feel free to let me know a good steak place. Have tried a couple and were pretty decent.

Found a place in Phuket last month that did a quality cheeseburger. Was real impressed. Was actually a thai owned place down a side street.

Someone mentioned a pub/reataurant by the river on another thread. Will give that a blast next week I think.

  9. Bit harsh to generalise but was talking to a couple of American female 'backpackers' who were telling me about their tekking around Nepal, India etc........turned out they booked into the Marriot in Bkk on their Dad's credit card!!!!

They were the beaded hair type pretending to have no money etc telling me about Mother Earth etc etc etc but were knocking back Mai Tais etc..............hardly backpackers!!!

If folk want to travel round the world etc on a limited budget etc, good luck to them IMHO. It's the ones who put this false pretence on that bug me.

  10. Patty's Fiesta in Patpong is ok. The waitress is real friendly and the live music is fun. The waitress came out with me and a BG one night after she finished work. Good margaritas.

There's a mexican in the Rembrandt I think but yet to try it. Will make a point of doing so next week. Do love Mexican food.
