There are many phising sites that look exactly like your internet banking login page but are snide. They're set up to get your login & password information, so then they can login in to your real internet banking site and transfer money to other accounts. Not sure how they can transfer money without OTP or token though?

Yes some of them do go over but that is nothing to do with the job they've been hired for. If they decide to stay on somewhere after working or meet someone elsewhere I don't see the problem.

It's so weird, but a few days ago a Swede killed his Thai girlfriend's Facebook friend simply because she had wanted to meet him. People responded that it was essentially the Thai girl's fault. Stupid things like, "you can take the girl out of Thailand, but you can't take Thailand out of the girl." But if a Western person is murdered, it's like the culprits are slime of the earth. These responses are legitimate, to hate those who murder, but to have such obvious racist responses to who gets killed and who gets blamed is just part of this very bigoted Thailand experience. Not to diminish what has happened to Michele Smith.

I had a car crash recently with another farang who was on a motorbike at midnight. I was eventually breathalised at 3:45am after sitting in the old bill station for hours regularly getting told by the nightshift chief 'ha ha ha, alcohol, monkey house, big money, ha ha ha'. Anyway I passed the test but you could see the anticipation on the coppers face hoping that I would fail the test and he'd get a payday.

Whilst I agree that doing something about DD is a must, I can't help thinking that the police will misuse the units and their authority thus arming them with another weapon for extortion.

BTW, one of my pals got arrested here recently for being bladdered while driving his motorbike and was given a fine & community service! Once a week he has to go round painting fences and temples. I've never heard of this before in Thailand for a foreigner.

Actually!!!..........there was a nightclub called Spicy in CM that was rumoured to be police owned. It was a real rough and tumble place, the last haunt for the bar girls trying to get a lift for the night, and open till 6.00am. Fights were common and the place was often packed out. It was closed down by the Military Police, they came in right over the shoulders of the local police and put an end to it.

The original Spicey is still closed down, a new one opened round the corner but it's far more strictly operated.

Maybe that's what's required in Pattaya, Military police involvement. If they put their mind to it they could solve this problem in a few short days.

I saw one of these fake 100 baht notes last night. Don't know how someone got away with giving it to my mate in his change, as the back of it didn't line up with the front of it, resulting in half the back of a note and half plain white paper!
