  1. One more question for ANYONE ... I find Canada dam_n hard to get started in life, do you think Thailand is still a good choice to move to for a 30 year old .. there is so many complicated rules and I don't feel like jumping threw hoops, is it worth it after living there.. I don't know sometimes, but Canada is getting boring with Harper, its going to hell really.

what do you think, I have been to thailand 3 times for a few months, but I haven't lived there.

  2. well, I am trying to find out what is OK and what is not, your being a smart ass.

I don't want to get around any rules, I want to be within the rules.

I know when in Thailand its ok to conduct your buisness if it doesn't include thailand say if you are working for someone buying goods in chiang mai for a store in Canada, your shopping, its legit..

as I said, I was hoping to get a buisness visa in Cambodia so I can produce my own products, but also cross the border to shop in thailand, for things to be sold to Canada from Cambodia.

My only real question is if talking to customers say, while in thailand is illegal, if it is of COURSE i won't do it ... where else and how else to find out these things but freaking ASK...

from all my research why would thailand grant me permission to start a company when I am just a young and starting without any capital, i haven't found a thai women like you, I don't want to teach english and MOST of all I want to be within the law 100% and respect their RULES..

So if maybe someone that wants to help can tell me if this idea breaks the rules... or how I can get permission to basiclly buy products in thailand and ship them to Canada without getting in trouble, or is there any way they would grant me a buisness visa without being a rich retirie or any crap like that.

  3. Get an Education Visa and you will have plenty of free time to stay here and do what you like, from a fellow Canadian.

thanks, what is a education visa, like I have to study thai ? but then if I am shopping for stuff in Chiang mai say and sending back boxes to customers in Canada, isn't that working illegal ? what do you think about that ?

Thai jail sounds nasty and I don't want to spend a single day of my life there.

  4. So it came to me in a bathtub in Canada !

I want to hang out and do some exporting of handmade thai goods to Canada, but it seems to hard to get a thai visa for this.

I just want to buy stuff and ship it back to customers in Canada, but this seems illegal in Thailand on a tourist visa.

So.. it seems like Cambodia is easy to get a visa to conduct a export type thing...

What about if I was shopping in Thailand, buying stuff, and then crossing over to Cambodia where I would box and ship it to Canada, with the right visa in Cambodia would this be OK with

the Thais ? ( I would be talking to customers on the phone and buy email about what they want me to shop for, but not shipping things from Thailand at all)

One other question, is it as easy as people say to get a business visa for Cambodia ? What is the tricky part about that ? and can I get that in Thailand or should I get it 1st in Canada before I travel...

    Thanks

  5. No, I agree drugs don't make you happy, they shouldn't. Many do lasting damage, others do minimal damage if not abused. Kind of sugar, salt, beer, tv, internet, sex, tea, coffee, chocolate, caffiine pop, thousands of drugs the sell at the pharmacy that are abused.

Your talking about Pot.. good luck, I don't promote it, but if it were legal all over the world, there wouldn't be more smokers, its would do more harm, it would just be that its another stupid thing, like energy drinks, that smart people avoid except once in a while.

Other people sit around in their own pee after drinking everyday, or smoke until they get cancer, or eat until their heart stops.

Its just something to think about Thailand, why jail pot heads or the like for life and things ?

  6. I know the Queen means well.

I do think that Thailand in general should grab a brain.

Pot is good for society, it calms violent people, it makes people drink less booze.

There is always a segment of society that will use drugs, no matter the law. Many of the brighest artists and other will use drugs at times.

I really think Thailand should step out of the dark ages and let adult do what they want to their bodies, with the exception of Yabba and Heroin, they should be controlled.

Magic Mushrooms ARE NOT BAD FOR YOU, Neither is POT... grow up Thailand.

Focus on the Sex trade, this is violence, this is abuse and this is addiction. Pot/Mushrooms/LSD are not addictive !

    Focus on saving the environment.

If you want less violence then legalize drugs and take the profits away from the ultra rich drug lords.

-- All making drugs illegal does is ensure that evil drug criminals get richer ! prices go up , it also creates a situation where people that want to change their reality are pushed into bad addictive drugs like Yabba instead

of the positive and healthy experinces you get on Mushrooms, LSD, POT, MDMA and others.

Making drugs like these illegal also makes MANY more addicts and drug users - Education is the key not outlawing stuff.

Look that the United States and the completely waste of money and time on their drug war, Trillions of dollars spend, millions in prison, and they still have a higher percentage of drugs and drug realated crime than they did when they started.

Its sad when some drunk drive, paying for sex, meat head is trying to tell someone who is healthy and sober mostly they can't use recreation drugs just because its wrong.

Go drink a cheap bottle of wiskey until you puke and fall down, then go rent yourself a women in poverty to get your rocks off you sickos.

  7. Ya, you guys are being silly - You think Thais don't like to dance ? Also there is tons of people from all over the world in Thailand.

If the lad had the option he could start his own night somewhere and make his own events and do really well.

Man, these people... blah.. I play music and I can't count the time some boring jerk trys to tell me I suck and I will never get a gig or that there is too many guitar players/djs/vjs

Its all BULL, I can play out 4 times a week if I want in my backwoods place, I might not get rich off it but its all about the MUSIC, people this man loves music and thats what you don't get, he is going to be playing music if you like it or not does mean some Thais ain't going to bust some moves on the dance floor...

    lol..

If you get legal you should try to get a few gigs up in Chiang Mai, there is a nice little scene up there, and also other places, but thats where I love !

  8. Yes, I don't know much about your topic, as I haven't even performed in thailand but I will someday.

My only advice would be to get you 2 week artist permit, don't risk it.

But all in all they are not unreasonable in thailand except for things like Pot. Most of the time if your a good person and attract good vibes, the thai police are nice, I have even

seen they search a bus I was on and ask everyone for ID that was Thai but for me they just nodded, I am just saying if you aren't doing anything wrong in thailand you won't have a problem unless you are unlucky, you should though take things like the drug laws very serious and stay away from anyone that is even a pot head ..

In Thailand you just have to roll with it, it is the way it is and you are the way you are, being nice and humble and not getting to worked up about anything is the way to go.

  9. Hi, pretty general question here and hoping you folks and give me some ideas.

I would like to spend a year or so in Thailand and will need to keep working for my sanity, or study at least.

I am not that attracted to teaching english although I would like to try it and see what it is really like.

Things I WISH i could do : Open a bar or guesthouse ! thats #1 ( i don't have the big bucks they want)

Sell stuff from Thailand online to Canadians (seems hard to get this kind of work permit, no ?)

Make music festivals (seems like I can't do this)

Dj in clubs (seems I could get a 2 week permit or so, but complicated)

Skills I have but hope I don't have to use there : website design, graphic design....

I am kind of out of ideas of how I could hang out in Thailand, other than taking a thai language course or some other kind of study.

Can anyone share any ideas about how I can make my dream a reality, perhaps I would move to thailand for a few years if I could ! There sure is enough Thais that move to Canada and get to do what they want , I wish there was some sort of exchange system lol

  10. ps - to longstay..

Yes longstay the rules are bending, you can basiclly take a beattles song and remix it a bit and share it legally online. Things are changing, recorded music is becoming free, artists now have to play live to make a living and music is getting way better because of it.

They fought that fight in the 80s-90s

What the real dj's (not real but the ones I like the most) are doing is taking beats off someones track, take vocals from another song and taking on the computer and making it their own, some will burn this to cd and play it live.. its just the way it is.

  11. Hey fellow Dj friend, I don't think you should worry to much, for one you don't know this is a fact even happend.

If it did happen, it would be a mistake by a police and could have been attached to something else.

Myself I play music off of a laptop, I also buy from Beatport. This is 100% legit, but you never know someone might react when they haven't a clue about this artform or something, like look at how a couple of random thaivisa forum users have reacted.

To everyone else, the lad is 100% right, every dj that uses cd's has to burn their own cds, you buy the music online at beatport and you burn it to cd, as they don't even sell real cds, once you own the music you are allowed to to whatever you want with it. So you might want to lay off the lad for stating a fact, every dj that uses cds has to burn their music, thats just the way it is.

So yes my friend, I would agree that you shouldn't bother complaining that things are different in Thailand unless as a visitor and expect some things seem silly, but when you go back home you will see that home many things are silly there too.

  12. Hi I am 32 on a 30 day tourist visa in thailand.

I would like to find out my options and ideas about how I. Can stay for 6 months to a year.

I need to work. Perhaps as an english teacher. Can I do this without permit and avoid trouble?

I am also able to keep a small net biz so that's a bit of an option.

I would go to school if that would help or something like that.

What is my options to stay here for a bit?

Thanks in advance. And no I don't want to get married to anyone.
