ATM's are everywhere, but there rates are the poorest.  Do you have money changers in the Philippines (I don't mean the bank)? A non-bank money changer will give you the best rate. I suggest bring 15-20k baht exchanged in the Philippines and then finding a non-bank exchanger in Bangkok for additional funds. I know there is one in the Pratunam Market and another on Sukhumvit Soi 3 a half a block from the Sukhumvit intersection (west side).

IMO, an ATM should be your last resort for exchanging cash.

10k max pesos is the limit to take out

  2. Nissan stopped making the Almera, in the UK, in 2006, so not sure what you would be getting here.

Seems the Almera name is being used for other versions of the car

The Nissan Almera was a small family car produced by the Japanese manufacturer Nissan from 1995 to 2006. It was essentially the European export-market version of the contemporary Nissan Pulsar, the first generation, and of the Nissan Bluebird Sylphy, the second generation.

The name is currently also being used for several other versions of the car: the South Korean-manufactured Samsung SM3, in various export markets worldwide; the Nissan Latio, throughout the Southeast Asian markets; the second generation Nissan Bluebird Sylphy in Russia.

  3. If they can't eat it or wear it, they don't want it!

    And flowers are rarely appreciated

We thought gift would be better but as some of you have suggested money would be more appreciated how much is acceptable obviously we don't want to set expectations too high for future visits.

How much would be acceptable for The Agent

    &

Staff at the condominium - how would you split this out - would you give those in the office more than say the security staff and the cleaners?

    thanks

How much have you budgeted to buy the gifts and for how many people? The people you intend giving the gifts to, which ones do you consider as the more important and give priority to? The highest on your list you give the most to.

Giving has to come from the heart and what we give is a display on how much we value these people. Don`t believe the old saying, it`s the thought that counts. If you are only allowing a small expense for presents to give to several people, then better not give anything at all and consider it as a bad idea to start with.

  4. Much better to keep your house in the UK. Find a reputable Estate Agent, who will manage your property for between 5%-10%. There are some who guarantee no voids and pay you every month, whether or not there is a tenant, however, they will charge more for this service. The upside is that you know you are getting £x rental income every month and the agent's fees are tax deductible.

You obviously don't need the capital at this stage of your life, with the figures you have mentioned, and house prices in the UK are starting to rise. Makes more sense to have a regular rental income and a steadily appreciating asset that will be worth much more should you ever need to sell in the future.

With your house valued at £110000 and a rental income of £4600 (that seems very low?) you would be grossing 4.18%.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
