I noticed on another thread that the monies had to be transferred from the home country, no mention of that here. Many people, myself included, hold their funds offshore with no bank a/c in their home country.
Did you ever consider that the UK and in all fairness USA my home country, couldn't give a damn what happens to you and would prefer you dead anyway?

The British Embassy always asked for proof of my pension income and I had to send them the same statements every year. It doesn't make sense that they are now saying they can't verify income, because that is exactly what they did.
No it's actually just a "rubber stamp" anyone can make any figures up on a piece of paper. the embassies don't contact your individual financial institutions to verify income.

I remember the first time I got my Embassy letter in Bangkok 4 years ago. I had all my bank/brokerage statements etc. the guy at the embassy said what are you giving me this for. I said don't you have to see my financial status. He said no we don't want this your just swear you meet the requirements.
I was quite surprised at the time. However anyone can "doctor up" documents I suppose. What would they have to to do contact my bank I guess?

Why is it up to TVF 'Mods' to represent us at Thai Immigration?? Are they our advocates or are we going to advocate for ourselves??
I believe this part was "tongue in cheek." Look lads..hopefully some if the Mods will be able to have a meeting with the Thai Immigration top brass to try and formulate..THE WAY FORWARD.

not exactly least resistance, there is a social aspect to all this. I posted a few hours ago how my missus met my IO by chance in Tesco's, she explained about my worries if the German embassy ever stopped issuing the letter, his response was he has dealt with me for years, knows my income, knows I have a Thai son and support a family, we aren't going to kick him out because of a missing letter, things will get resolved. Of course he isn't high up and works the desk but it shows a concerned attitude, it may mean something or nothing but I found it positive.
Understood. In my case though is this conclusion correct?
"It just hit me, from a guy that never balanced a check book. The 800,000 bhat is only tied up for 3 months. If I decide to stay, I can just live off of it the rest of the year and top it up to 800,000 3 months before the next annual retirement renewal.

Understood but based on the info we have at this point is my conjecture correct? Seems like just dropping in the 800,000 is the path of least resistance.

I believe an earlier poster pointed out the same thing in a previous post.
However, it does mean that those that don't have it have to leave right?

Mate, all countries want that...
What puzzles me is that you somehow think I was moaning about that? I was merely stating a fact.
Pick another point out of context to further your own ambitions...
Not true in the US anyway. Immigrants are draining resources and social services at record rates. The US is basically giving the country away.

I was told by a bank representative yesterday that I would need a will in Thailand to designate my beneficiaries and then it would be necessary for my beneficiaries to come to Thailand to 'probate' the will in the Thai court system. Given this situation, I would rather minimize my exposure to the loss of money in the Thai banking system when I die.
That's about how I feel Fortunately I am in a position to lock up 800,000 in a Thai bank but won't. I've been coming here since 1971 and living here for about 4 years. A saying that has been around a long time is "don't bring more money to Thailand than your willing to lose." I prefer to live elsewhere and am planning to leave. I like Thais and Thailand. However I will not tolerate Thais telling me where and how to deposit my money. That wasn't the understanding I came here under. I see it sort of as a "breech of contract." There are equal or better options for retirement open to me. In addition I think this is just a "peek" at what this "suburb" of China has in store for "Farangs." This is why I didn't buy a nice condo at a good price when I first came here. If you think the US Gov/Embassy gives a flying $$$$ about expats here you are delusional. IMHO. We've got 120,000 homeless Vets in the states. 67% of children in the US have to choose between food or transportation. Google it. I could go on. I trust the US government 0% and the Thai government less. Again fortunately I'm in the position to just pick up and go elsewhere. My heart goes out to honest guys that are now "caught in a lurch" somehow.

I quit drinking, which I used to do plenty of and used to enjoy. However I can no longer handle the hangovers. See it as a blessing in disguise. Booze can be a big part of the budget... Don't smoke.

I have the top-rated Panasonic MJ-L500 slow juicer, used one time, worked superbly juicing everything from Carrots to various greens. Found out I did not like the juices so put it away after the one day use. It is available with all original packaging at one-half of the price. In Phuket.
Keep juicing. Dilute the juice with water if you don't like the taste. Find ones that you do like fresh juices are super important to health. Surprised you haven't sold it at that price!

I've used the Otto B 127A 50Amp 1200 watt almost everyday for 3 years. Runs like a top. It's a Vitamix knock off. can't quite push it like a real Vitamix but if you use your head it works great. I've made hummus and tahini that came very good. Blend watermelon almost every day. Why pay more than ten times? Hard to beat for 1250 bhat...

Thank God for the Law of Natural Selection. I still think he should drive it into a concrete wall full speed. Would be a waste of a good vehicle though...

Could be the same in Pattaya. I managed a 5km trip to Big C Extra along 3rd Road at 3 pm and didn't see a single drop of water. I got wet on the return trip though - it rained LOL.
I've noticed the same thing you observered this year. it seems more localized to the Farang scumbag bars. Today and tomorrow Will pretty much be a free-for-all if history repeats itself...

No just my experience. My buddies wife from Yasothan used to carry a stick to beat Indians that were trying to molester here here in Samut Prakokn Bangkok. Plus your article describes " arrest-of-molester" That's one. Wishful thinking., LOL!!! While traveling in India/West Bengal My girlfriend always carried a stick to beat groping Bengalis. I carried a chain and bike lock. Once we would start laying a good beating on them the cops would show up. I'd give them a couple thousand Rupees to finish the job. Don't get out much huh? There is life "getting out from under the rock."

It's not Songkran that I hate. I enjoy a good game of water pistols like any 66 year old child. Its the carnage and stupidity that goes with it that I hate. I hate being targeted to die by people who drink and drive while I'm using the road alongside them. I hate it when my life is threatened by having a bucket of water thrown at me while riding my scooter. I hate arriving at work with my clothes soaking wet to sit in an air conditioned office catching pneumonia. I hate reading how many deaths and injuries happen each year while the government and police are all hot air saying they have it under control which obviously they don't. I hate it that I cannot afford to escape to another country like so many people do.

Roadside Honey... Real Or Fake?

Ants do in fact eat honey. I had to take special measures to protect hives at different times from ant infestations. TV members never cease to amaze. Then there's Google if you find it hard to believe a beekeeper.
