  1. I agree it sounds high, however my wife says it's the city proper, not the district.

I am in no way an expert, but my wife also says that there are a high concentration of Chinese and other Asians in Chiang rai, so those obviously also contribute to the high number. :D

  2. Hey all, I have now lived in wonderful Chiang Rai for more than a year, (I came here 13'th of January, 2011) and I am loving every second.

I have not really been very proactive, I found a danish guy who was awesome, but lost contact with him for some reason.

I have generally had very little contact with anyone else, and that is a shame.

I should try to talk my wife into going to one of the events thaivisa has. :)

Anyhow, I don't know why I'm writing this, I guess I'm just trying to reach out. :)

I hope everyone will have a wonderful week!

    - Mike.

  3. Hi all, thank you for all the replies.

    What we did was:

We went to bangkok and waited around forever in queues and whatnot and then we found out we didn't have enough time left over on my tourist visa, so she suggested I get a 2 month extension (Even though I had already had a 1 month extension on the same entry)

I thought it was impossible but saw it as my only option, so I applied, and later we drove home to Chiang rai with a fresh two months on my visa.

We then went back a week or so ago, and got my non o visa, also in bangkok, with the note that we should apply for the year extension in Chiang rai.

Wether all this was made possible by the fact that my wife works as an officer for the government, I do not know. :)

Anyway, there's my little success story, I hope someone can use it!

  4. Hello all, about 2½ months ago I moved to Thailand and is now married to a thai national.

We would like to know, now that we want to make my multi entry non o, how much time I need to have left on my current tourist visa.

We were thinking of making my visa either in bangkok, or whereever you guys might find better.

My visa runs out on the 12'th of april.

We live in chiang rai so therefore very close to maesai, where we have been told we can't do it, can someone confirm this?

Anything else we need to know?

    Thank you in advance.

    Michael and his wife.

  5. Thank you for all the hello's and good advice!

What I'm looking for is pc games.

I know walking street night market has one booth and I hear rumours that big c has a shop with games but alas I have yet to find the shop. :D

I'm mostly always up for a cup of coffee, either at our home or somewhere else, people are free to pm me to get together for coffee (Or in rare cases, when the missus allows, a beer. ;) )

  6. Hey, just wanted to introduce myself. I am Michael and I moved to Chiang Rai a month and a half ago from tiny, cold Denmark. :)

So far I haven't really met anyone other than my fiance's many many friends and family and I figured it might be nice to talk with some other farang. :D

Anyway, I will hang around so if you want to say hi, feel free to!

    PS: Is there anywhere is Chiang Rai, other than Big C or walking street market (1 booth) that sells games? I'm amazed at how few games there are to buy in a place like Chiang Rai. ^^;
