  1. I moved to Muang thong thani because I don't like the tourist areas. The upside of my move is that it has some of the fastest Internet connections available. I had true install a phone line (installation was free) which cost me 104 baht a month and a dsl line for 699 a month? I forget. My service is the fastest I have received in Thailand, I'm on the 7mb plan.

  2. Putting him down is one way. but there is so much that could be gained by not putting him down. I think if he had boiling water poured into his a$$hole, or a strong electrical charge between his genitals and the gums of his teeth, and it was done done publicly, many people who consider the repercussions of " honor killings" Maybe it's just me. :coffee1:

    Animal ....... put him down.

  3. To the Op, it's a matter of value. If the data is so sensitive, you can afford to buy another disk and physically destroy the one "that won't fire up".

A sledge hammer or drilling holes through the case and platters work well. Hard drives aren't that expensive.;)

I always went with the hammer and then burning the thing. Maybe it's just me.

  4. Sumet Honda

Yep, I've rolled into my brake lock before.

Not sure if they have them still but Kryptonite used to include a small orange cable that you would tether to your throttle so you can't forget to unlock the thing.

Since I lost the tether, I don't use a disk lock unless its the Xena alarm kind.

Where in BKK can I get the Zena screaming disc lock? Need a few... BTW, this has saved my Ducatis discs back in Cali a few times, and maybe discouraged a thief or two:

  5. VN,

I have no zest, I am just quoting facts. And I will quote somemore, hopefully you will get it.

I began to read about your product long ago, and I also readthat you disappeared for more than a month. When you reappeared I pm'd you. Youwanted me to wired you 6500 baht…..in Thailand, a country known for scams, and I told you would not. I said I buy in cash face to face, when I see what Iam buying. I asked you to meet me at a Honda dealer when I was in Bkk, youbacked away.

I asked on the forum if anyone knew about the "jcostavariator", and you responded "Hey, homeslice wants to know about thejcosta variator", which was déclassé', and it (your behavior) left me witha suspicious impression of you. I decided to wait and not do anything with my125.

I continued to read the posts about your product and was notsurprised to hear of dissatisfied people and the report of a 30% fuel efficiencyloss. Considering everything, "it" just doesn't pass the"smell test".

I heard of a better variator and gathered information aboutit's performance face to face, at a Honda dealer and decided it was worthtaking the risk, at a substantially lower cost.

I was very happy with the result and I posted an impartial review, not mentioning your product at all. Another person, who apparently has followedthe history of the jcosta variator, asked me about the specifics of mine. Iposted the facts, as I see them, about my variator. I did not mention yourproduct at all.

You responded to the person asking me about my variator experience, not my post, in defense of your product.

I quoted part of the thread history regarding your product, not you, pulled from thaivisa.

You responded, attacking my zest, and my "125",which was not cool. No one was trying to hurt you.

In summary, first I would say, people buy from people theylike and trust, that's fundamental. You're not credible too me, even though youmay be to someone else, and you have a history of disappearing.

You have admitted to only being available through "circuitousrouting", and you want people to wire you money……in Thailand?

You are on this forum as much to sell a product as to tradeinformation, and you are imposing yourself…

Someone else has a better mousetrap, at a substantially lowercost with a better performance review, sold from a brick and mortar, with a guarantee. How can you argue with that?

Apparently you can escape the laws of physics sometimes, butyou can never escape the laws of economics.

    I wish you the best!

    HS

    HS,

I your zest to quote posts on J Costa you seem to have forgotten to quote the fact that hill climbing performance went up 13%, top speed by 10% etc. I still maintain there is no free lunch and as I said when performance is available it tends to get used even if unconsciously. The poster in question also said his 45kg wife gets much better economy. It is swings and roundabouts.

If fuel economy is your aim then do not mess with the stock bike. If you want performance then either you buy the best or you don't . If you want small gains you could convert yours to Euro spec if you want but again fuel economy will suffer.

Oh and just like Brian sells scooters nowhere have I said I don't sell J Costa. my avatar should be a hint. Of the 17 I have sold, from memory, only the two gentlemen you quoted have expressed any dissatisfaction. I won't bother, but if you search TV you will find at least two who are happy. To cancel out these two who are not.

As HD says at the end of the day it still only a 125 scooter.

  6. The variartor question; asked and answered!

I will be happy to sell you a J Costa variator and/or a J Costa exhaust.

I had Honda install a J Costa variator. Is it faster, yes and no. In some cases it is and in others not, my top end is now 119 km/h were before it was 109 km/h tops The down side is I was getting 45 - 50 km/l and now it is way down to 35. In the end it wasn't worth the cost to me, but you will have to decide.

Isn't this why most of us should "settle for Honda and Yamaha engineering"? The reason I tested my friend's stock PCX against my Yamaha Nouvo Elegance instead of renting a Costa variator equipped PCX from the owner of Nunn Massage is I had this deep seated feeling in my guts that the fuel economy of the PCX would suffer enormously and that for this reason only a very small percentage of PCX owners would want to sacrifice this kind of fuel economy for a little more power. From what you are telling us for 6 miles an hour increased top end you are reducing your fuel economy roughly 30 %.

Long time listener, first time caller. Hey Homeslice, I have a PCX in Chaing Mai and I'm curious, can you tell me what kind of performance gain you got with the variator install? I have followed the Jcosta thing for a while and for 6500 plus lossing 30% in fuel/mileage, I decided to wait. You say the genaric variator cost you 1600? Do you know if Sumet will ship it to me? You have a different muffler on your bike, what is it and does it help? Thanks.

I have never seen anywhere anyone report 30% loss of fuel economy from J Costa.

Worst I have heard is a 200lbs+ guy in Chiang Mai who claims he loses 13% with no mention of how he rides. wink.gif

Any increase in performance will net an increase in fuel consumption. One cannot circumvent the laws of physics.

I should add here that the Thai PCX has different rollers than the European one. So an easy thing would be to sell a variator sheave with European rollers and claim it is a performance variator. .As Costa was developed in Europe it already gives more performance than the European rollers.

All depends on what you want.

  7. I guess I should have been more specific.

I don't have a dyno and I am speaking from a non-technical point of view. From the light I am considerably quicker. Where I really wanted the power was at 50 or 60 kph and I wanted to pass someone. Before it just didn't have what I wanted, not that it is slow, it just needed more guts at 50 or 60. If I were to describe the bike from take off to top end, I would say that it is quicker from the line and does not lag in acceleration 'til it reaches it's max speed of 121kph. Before I got 103 before the governor kicked in.

There is no discernible fuel loss, if there is it is because I am "in it" more.

Yes, it costs a mere 1600 baht installed. I'm sure Sumet will ship it, and stand behind it also.

The muffler is an Over which is a Japanese company. I think it helps a bit but I like it because it is loud and people hear me, instead of hitting me. Loud pipes save lives.

    Welcome to TV

  8. I have been stopped several times for doing something wrong, and for tea money. When I can I just keep looking straight ahead and keep driving, it works about fifty percent of the time.

I did make a great discovery, use it if you need to. I was leaving Patong heading north and was warned by riders coming the other way of a check point. I didn't have a license then. I got off the bike and waited a bit where they couldn't see me. When my patients ran out, I walked the bike through the checkpoint. They didn't bother me at all. When I was 100 meters up the road, in full view of the bib I got on and drove off. Sometimes i wonder about these boys.

  9. Fortunately, I know who I am and I am no stranger to politics, so I know who he is also. Proving it too you is a waste of time. Grow up soon!

I am from the US and I call him "dick head". I only hope that people who afford politicians undue respect will wake up to the fact that they (politicians) are often psychopaths.

What you call him speaks volumes about who you are, and tells me nothing about him. Think about it.

  10. I am from the US and I call him "dick head". I only hope that people who afford politicians undue respect will wake up to the fact that they (politicians) are often psychopaths.

As others have said it is all a show.

Of course the debt ceiling will again be raised.

Someone like the US will never default as they can print/digitize as long as

the faith of those running to the so called safe haven of the USD continue to do so.

But.....The US is in fact bankrupt. They have as someone pointed out been operating on fumes for awhile now.

Stealing from Fed workers pensions to fuel their needs.

They make a mockery of this whole situation by having folks like Zobama & Bernanke make claims

such as the reason they need to agree to raise it is the money has been spent. Zobama

said they bought the car & drove it & now need to pay for it.

Yet raising the ceiling does nothing for paying for what they have in fact already spent.

All it does is let them continue to spend more of what they do not have.

Think of it this way..... Someone can not pay their bills...They in fact cannot barely pay the interest on their bills....Would it be prudent to give them a higher spending limit to spend even more of what they cannot pay back?

It is a joke & they use it as others said basically for political theater. They will also use it to start yet another QE-3-4-5 or TARP what ever they choose to call it this time. Maybe QE3 Light?

Result is the same they are bankrupt & sinking but trying for a controlled descent. The Euro turmoil will help them briefly as folks run yet again to what they perceive as the strongest of the fiats singing all the while....don't turn the lights on I don't want to see

I don't know if you are a US citizen, but our President's name is Obama, not Zobama. I note that mods on this forum regularly correct the spelling of Thaksin Shinawatra's name; please accord the same courtesy to the President of the United States of America. Snide and snickering slurs don't help make your arguments; rather they belie an insecurity, and the need for approbation from like-minded nitwits.

That said, Mr. Obama inherited a mess, and, unfortunately, hasn't yet done much to fix it. This is certainly by Republican/Tea Party extremist design. That he has played into their hands somewhat is regrettable, but it is NOT unprecedented. An FDR-like move to return the economy to productivity would go a long way toward mitigating the existing debt, as would modest adjustments to the tax code. People who have benefited tremendously from the system, owe it some commensurate support. Period.

Look at it this way: being in debt to the tune of a few trillion dollars, for the US in its current state, is like someone working at McDonald's being in debt on a house, car and plasma TVs. Someone, fully employed, or in a successful business might hardly feel the outlay of interest every month. And they might even take on more debt to finance their continuing education, or the expansion of their business - the goal being to be even more productive and/or marketable.

So, what I need to hear, and what has yet to come from the President, is how he plans to get America back to productivity - making things, providing real services, and not just acting as middlemen, taking a cut from both directions (Wall Street). Show me a plan, and then the (deficit) money is yours...

    edit: corrected Shinawatra :)

  11. How boring the story pumped and the comments

I agrre. Not the point and no gain.

Can anyone tell me what the criminals can do with bank details and owners name and email address?

They try to get this from sellers on internet auctions too these days. Anyone who buys a product (for as low as 1 euro) will get this data anyway and could theoretically miss-use it.

    thanks for info!

In the US there is a huge crime wave called "identity theft". People collect your information in whatever way they can (go through your trash) and use it to impersonate you, and take your money. Or, even worse, use your name if they are arrested. This has been going on for years with the lawmakers and bankers doing nothing to stop it. There is an insurance policy (allstate, travelers) now that you can buy in case you are violated. There was even a guy who used to put his own social security number up on a billboard and told people his identity theft insurance policy was bulletproof. Sadly it wasn't, someone took out a forty thousand dollar loan in his name. Imagine having your identity stolen and all the countless months it would take you to put your life back on track.

My advice; Never under any circumstanced give your personal information to anyone if you can at all help it. If you must, find a way to minimize the exposure. For example, if an employer will only pay you through direct transfer, get a dedicated account for that employer and move the money from one account to the other physically, not over the internet.

  12. I suggest they float the THB back to the 2004 rate 45THB to USD$1.00. Power to the peopleph34r.gif

While i can appreciate that this would enhance your lifestyle (and I would like B50 or so to the AUD), i'm not so sure it would be a good thing for Thailand to depreciate their currency by 50% because another country has completely F***ed their own economy and that of a lot of the rest of the world.

if you would like the USD to regain its strength, you might like to assist in cleaning your own home before taking a dump on the carpet in someone else"s.

Just a suggestion ... sheesh, mang. I can NOT clean my own house when I'm not the criminal that stole from it and depleted our work force and continues to start wars and give money to needy governments like CHINA and THAILAND and to countries that HATE us. Geez, man, why'd you think I left. Wait 'til Oz goes belly up too.

I can't clean that house either and left for the same reasons. Some of us have our eyes wide open.

  13. No matter what has been said on the topic, in the past and presently, Thailand has been, is, and will continue to be a corrupt country that finds ways to squeeze money from the pockets of foreigners. This is nothing more than a shock to the system and we will return to "Thai normalcy" as soon as "whomever" has profited from the occasion, albeit a bit lighter in the pocket.

Personally, I think if we live in a "world economy" then why don't we have the ability to live in "the world"? If this were the situation, governments would compete for populace through diminished economic taxation and increased benefits. Novel concept isn't it?

Your concept isn't novel ... it is just plain stupid. Competing for populace .... oh yeah ... you'll get all the population you ever wanted. Most of which will never contribute ... or do you just mean that to be for people that actually already have money? They pretty much don't have a problem living in most places already :)

Thank you. I paused to consider what you had to say? (That my concept was "just plain stupid") I looked inside myself to see if some part of me was reacting to what you had said about me, particularly if some part of me were upset, prone to counterattack, or otherwise affected. I have found that when I am in that kind of reaction, there is typically something there for me to learn about myself, something for which I need to improve. In this instance, I found no reaction. Thus, you were simply sharing your opinion to which you are fully entitled and with which I have no argument. Therefore, "Thank you" seemed most appropriate. Inasmuch as you are entitled to your opinion, my opinion is that we think differently.

  15. I'm still laughing at myself, you can too if you want. About 10 days ago I fell asleep watching TV. When I woke up I thought, "put the bike in the garage". In a groggy state I went outside, fired her up and hit the throttle. She went about a foot and came to a dead stop. I had forgotten to take off the caliper brake lock, and now, at one in the morning, it is screaming. I took the lock off and, again, started to put the bike in the garage, but now I don't have a front brake. Something is wrong, and I'm leaving it 'til the morning. In the AM I limp in to my trusty Sumet Honda and tell my story. When we got finished laughing at me I ordered a new brake caliper. While I'm there a friend came in that I had wanted to talk too. He had installed a generic variator on his PCX two weeks before. I wanted to ask him if he had a power gain and if there was a fuel efficiency loss. Yes, a definite power gain!. No, no discernible fuel efficiency loss. Since I had seen the installation, talked face to face with my friend, asked all the right questions, and got all the right answers, I took the plunge.

My recommendation for increased power on your PCX, go to Sumet Honda and buy the variator for a mere 1600 baht. If you want to stop on a dime, get the brake caliper lock!

  16. The reak story.

Yet unidentified intelligence agency posing as rogue hacker group LulzSec breaches wikileaks website with fake story, to discredit wikileaks, which was an intelligence operation to garner sympathy (and funding) for intelligence agencies. There are other sites that have been around for a long time doing the same thing wikileaks has done.

On a side note. TuPac Shakur was the product of a Black Panther family, knew too much, had a platform, was too vocal and was killed under the Cointel Program, just like MLK. TuPac Shukur was an unequaled musical talent and a gifted intellectual. I wish he was alive. RIP

  17. Meanwhile the expats that live here comfortably laugh up their sleeves at the people who say Phuket sucks and keep quiet.

I live in another part of Thailand, make FIVE times the money, have HALF of the expenses, and laugh my a$$ off at people who haven't got a clue. :coffee1:
