  1. Can we get back to the OP's question, where can he buy a Oneplus 5?

    In Thailand?

I'm not certain it is available yet here in Thailand. Not even sure if it's available anywhere in the world until Tuesday-ish?

Nothing on the local FB page yet... https://www.facebook.com/OneplusTH/

Not a lot of local social media chatter.

When it is, the usual suspects may stock it: AOB, Treemobile, Genustore, even Lazada etc..

  2. Have read a few reviews about this phone and is proving difficult to fault it !
It's main strength is the price against Apple and Samsung with similar specs.
I've got an iPhone 7 Plus so no real need for me to change but when my phone becomes out of date ( I know, shortly after it was launched I hear you say !! ), I will take a look at One Plus .

For a company only 4 years old they are making some remarkable advances .

Yes right as they were doing the presentation at launch. It was mostly out of date. [emoji16]

  3. I am very tempted getting this phone because of the dual rear cameras, wide angle & 2X zoom.

This phone has some very serious specs: 6 or 8 GB RAM depending of which ROM you chooses and the latest possessor also used in top-end Samsung models.

The low spec model will likely be enough for me and read on-line will cost just under 500$.

A bit worried about the dodgy wi-fi.

Same owner as Oppo & Vivo but a very small sub branch developing the OnePlus phones aiming at getting as much bang for your buck as possible.

Does anybody here know if it will be sold here by any official dealer? If yes, at what price?

Well not in a hurry since I am overseas working right now and will first be back in LOS in August.

    I recommend treemobile.com

  4. Ok Further update. Just spoke with one of our guests that was on that speed boat. His account was terrifying. The boat just nose dived. And then went belly up. Seems there was some negligence from the Captain. He is in jail since last night. I think this should go up the ladder rather than just the Captain. Our guest mentions that he had to climb off the rocks to safety. There were several people who couldn't swim. The police will be picking him up for further statement.

  5. The weather has been rather grey these since Monday in Samui. Many of our guest complained that all their tours were cancelled. Yesterday two of our guest were on that speedboat. They initially bought a tour from our in-house tour desk but the tour was cancelled due to brought seas and bad weather. Our two guests decided to buy outside as they guaranteed them that the excursion would not be cancelled. All this despite the bad weather. Our guests were safe and sound. RIP to those who lost their lives. Angthong Discovery should have cancelled their tour as most companies did.

  6. Be careful though. Not all unlimited data customers are transferred to 3G from what I read.

If you are using an iPhone plan, you are automatically upgraded to 3G.

If you are using a BlackBerry on AIS, you will have to call AIS to get the upgrade.

If you are using normal smartphone plan, you will not get 3G. If you are using an iPhone on this plan, call AIS to get upgraded.

Other smartphones users who want to be on 3G will have to subscribe an add-on 3G package. There is no "base plan" for 3G yet.

Unlimited data with 3G is available also as an add-on package. That means you will need another base plan for your minutes (i.e. 200 baht + 799 unlimtied 3G)

True. However I was a GPRS ULIMITATE 799 WIFI/BUNDLE customer.

I just got my notification this morning and I quote: 3GandEDGE/GPRSUnlimitated +Wifi has been activated. I have been upgraded.

I use a WP7 Samsung Omnia. I am a Seranade GOLD dont know if that makes a difference or not.

They automatically upgraded me to the 3GB.

  7. Nothing perceived at all about calling someone a freeloader! It's an insult plain and simple, implying taking something to which one is not entitled.

As an AIS EDGE customer who's also seeing a (slow) 3G connection at various locations around town I too was insulted.

    Apology accepted!

Just spoke with AIS this morning and if you are an unlimited customer as I am. Then you automatically get the 3G. Except there are two types of unlimited packages as I understand.

There is the pre 3G and post 3G (made the terms up for explanation sake) in the post 3G package the speeds can sustain video calls. So I currently have the pre 3G which still works in this new 3G era. However if I want to video call on the current package the speed is not adequate. I will have to change to the post 3G which will sustain those types of speeds.

Nice.. Will do my upgrade on the 31st. 799 ++

  8. Thank you for your response. I now see all the related article. This is great news. Hope that the network will be a stable one. I also noticed that all along Sukhumvit there is 3G+.

I am using a windows phone Samsung Omnia 7. My mom while on vacation here was displaying H in Hua Hin on the Ais network. She was using a HTC HD7.

Somchai Lertsutiwong, AIS executive vice president for marketing, said yesterday that the roaming facility with TOT network was just to complement AIS's existing 3G service, using the 900-megahertz spectrum. AIS will fully promote 3G-900MHz service when it finishes establishing 1,884 base stations for it nationwide. Currently, there are only a few such base stations in some major provinces.

So AIS (apparently) had already installed (perhaps in anticipation of the election winner?) a lot of 3G 900 Mhz base-stations in metro-Bangkok, and Phuket (and other areas as well), and are just turning up the service. It is independent of the TOT roaming agreement. When you are outside of the 900 Mhz 3G service you would roam onto TOT's network. They might send you an SMS once the service if more widely available, then you could subscribe to a 3G data plan? What make/model phone do you have?

  9. Is anyone else spotting 3G coverage more frequently.

I am with Ais and for the past month I have been spotting 3G coverage at Nana BTS station.

Also in that general area. Its spoty at best but more than I can speak of previously.

Is this part of the TOT roll out plan?

Can anybody else attest to that. ?
