  1. Are you for real?............. kids are kids and deserve the respect and rights all kids deserve no matter what their unfortunate beginings in life have dealt them.  Kids are not born bad adults make them bad..!!

Apparently they do not have the right to have sex??

Sex between men and boys is nothing new. It happens in every culture and it's not always the man who initiates it. Sometimes it's condemned - as in Western society and on this forum - and sometimes it's approved or even obligatory (ancient Greece, the samurai in mediaeval Japan, some African and Asian tribes pre-colonisation).

We're living in a world where we try to protect the vulnerable, including children, from exploitation. That's a good thing because there are some horrific cases of abuse out there, but we also need to be able to respond rationally to individual cases.

That protection also included diseases like AIDS

when I was 14 I had sex with plenty of 14 year olds. And 13, and 15, and 16...

Free love, flower power and moon dances and hippies and all that - perfectly natural.

    ...But that was then...

    :o

Interestingly so did I, but it wasn't in the sixties, later than that. I was very sexually mature and active at a young age, 13/14. I remember lusting after older people/teachers etc and wishing they would notice me and do something about it. It never happened, but if it had I would have been a happy lad back then.

Sexual maturity happens at different times in individuals and this should be what makes it right or wrong, just as having sex with a 20 year old who has a mind of a 12 year old. This is not illegal, but to have sex with a 15 year old who is mature enough to be 18 or older is illegal. Its not black and white guys, there is a grey area remember.

I recall Father Joe voiced his frustrations about two abused flower garland boys.

They had pointed out that they still rather admired their abusers, as they were the first people to have ever shown any kindness or generosity to them during their short lives.

(Their own family having beaten, abused and neglected them).

Obviously the abusers had their motives for being generous, but it illustrates that shabby parenting is part of the problem.

It is interesting to see how biased some people are.

    Sexuality covers a wide spectrum.

There are Gerontophiles who only fancy partners aged 60 or more....

Why should the young be denied a sexual outlet, if they so desire?

My first sexual experience was at age 12 with a friend 4 years older.

Judging from the quotes it is not uncommon for horny youngsters to seek

    sexual release with someone older.

Anyone who works with children, such as a teacher, will tell you that sexual overtures are not uncommon................

Add to that "Father Jo's frustration.................."

Don't you your think we might be missing an important message about

human sexuality and tolerance for other people's needs??

  2. Really? Thai people calling a Chinese Thai, farang??????

that is a real news for me ! I always heard that white skin caucasians called farangs... :o

Asians are usually refered to by the country they come from,

Khon Yipun, Khon Gowlee. Khon Chin etc.

The rest of us westerners are lumped together as Farang,

which I believe comes from Farangset (French).

As a Brit I find that kind of offensive, I am nothing like the French!! :D

  3. OK - so in your book, they should not get tough on peadophiles ? That's what we are talking about.

Your problem is that you have not defined what you mean by a paedophile!!!

By American standards it appears to be someone who has sex with a person under 18.

In the UK you can marry the girl at 16, does that make the man a paedophile?

    Of course not.

Until there is univeral agreement about standards, then laws should be applied in

the country where they are enacted, and nowhere else.

I thought your kind of biggotted imperialism went out of fashion a long time ago.

  4. I was awaked by the sound of fire crackers, frightening away all the foreign devils,

which no doubt is intended to include myself?

For a nation that claims to be Thai, it is remarkable how many people celebrate the New Year of a different nation!!

Perhaps it explains the paranoia shown by immigration over a few farangs who would like to make Thailand their home.

  5. My son has been trying to sign up for a hotmail account.

Part of the form asks for a secret question and an answer.

    Name of you pet?

    Middle name of you father?

Both his answers were rejected as too short.

Great!! Now we have to rename our pets and fathers to suit the b#######ds

    at the almight microsoft?

No wonder Linux is gaining such a following.

  6. According to their web site the ticketing office is at

21st Floor, Charn Issara Tower I

    942/160-163 Rama 4 Road

    Tel +66 (2) 636 1747

Junction of Rama 4 and Silom.

Silom stop on the Sky Train.

Also a stop on the underground, but that is out of operation for a few days.

  7. I can now confirm that these parameters ARE correct for TOT adsl

    VPI 1

    VCI 32

    PPPoE LLC

    logon <your phone number>@supercyber

    password <your phone number>

I am told that PPPoA VC-Mux will also work but the PPPoE setting is better.

All my problems were due to TOT, and it has taken 2 WEEKS to get it sorted out.

TOT does not have an SMTP gateway for sending mail!!!!

  8. They have some good tips, I also found a website with some tips http://adsl.yoll.net but this website seems to be blocked in Thailand.

The web site is up again now and I must agree that the inof is excellent for anyone

configuring an adsl line in Thailand.

I think I have found the reason for my problems.

After 3 days of calls I am told that adsl in the whole 038 area is down as the

server is down. Has been down all week!!

No wonder I could not connect.

I big thank you to TOT for taking 3 days to tell me!!

FYI The call centre for TOT is 1100.

Despite the Press 9 for English, be prepared to speak a little Thai,

however the tech staff do speak English.

  9. Layout the first page inside FrontPage.

Put in words of the links,

highlight the first link and right click,

select hyperlink properties on the menu that appears.

Enter second.html as the name in the link, make sure the name is just as I have typed nothing else, no www etc!!

Save the first page as index.html

Create the second page and name it second.html.

Then you can test with your browser.

    Select index.html as the file.

the page should appear and when you click on the link you should see the second page.

Good idea to have a link back to the home page (index.html) each of the other pages.

    Good luck.

  10. I went over to Cambodia few weeks ago for a short break.

I was very careful not to make any phone calls on my Thai mobile phone, as I know

the cost of out going calls to Thailand is exhorbitant, at 120 baht a minute.

I did receive a few calls.

Some of which I did not want, but there was no way of telling.

The screen just said 001 or 007.

I was shocked when my bill arrived from DTAC.

I was billed for the calls diverted to Cambodia, I expected that,

but I was also billed again for receiving the calls. 50 baht a minute.

Remember Cambodia is just next door.

I can call the UK for just 7 baht a minute.

I challenged DTAC and was told this is NORMAL.

Well it is the first time I have come across it, and I have been a mobile user for

several years and I often travel overseas.

The girl told me that the charges for receiving are an International Agreement

and will be charge in ALL countries.

    Even tourists coming here!!

I pass this on as warning to all.

It not looks even more as though the only way to go is to buy a local card in each country you visit.

  11. More than likely they don't have a news server !!!  You could try one of the pay news servers like newsfeeds.com

Iif you want the mail server    iang came up with the answer.

I'm delighted to advise that I received a very prompt reply too from TT&T that the SMTP outgoing email server for their HiNet DSL is mail.cis.cattelecom.com

Unlikely as this address may sound for an SMTP server, I've tried & tested it and it actually works!

Who in their right mind would call their business CATTLE com,

unless you are a cattle rancher??

Not many of those in Thailand.
