i live in jomtien so regularly get the bus from pattaya dai to jomtien ,i am sick and tired of listening to the thais that organise the que being rude to farangs ,most farangs as we no are bigger in body than thais and therefore take up more room ,i have persanally witnessed " large " farangs being told to leave the bus because they take up 2 much room ,the poor russian guy was so bewildered ,he had no idea what was going on ,i can speak thai (im english ) fairly well so i got into a heated arguement with the aggresive thai lady and was told farangs take up 2 much room ,off course the thing they cant compute is that probably 70% or more of there customers are farang ,without the farang i suspect they would be struggling but off course this fact is forgotten if someone takes up a little more than one seat ..........

even if u r a fairly normal size u get pushed/poked and shouted at to move /move/move to create more space ,off couse i fully realise that the more bodies the more money but this is supposed to b the land of smiles,.which of course we all know it isnt ,i really wish pattaya had meter taxis ,i lived in bkok for 2 years and rarely had any problems with taxis ,ok its 35 bht starting price but u go a long way for 70/80 bht ,more importantly the drivers are generally polite ,u r on yr own so no -one trying to steal yr money (which also nearly happened to me last week),u have air con ,no pollution and guess what u actually arrive at the place u want to go ...............i have also lost count of the ammount of times i have been on the bus ,suddenly a few customers get on and the bus just takes off in a totally different direction because they have booked it privately ............also on the jomtien route ive had the bus stop half way along jomtien and tell me to get out because im the only customer and they dont want to go any further !!!

ive been pattaya 4 years now and i think its fair to say that i hate the bus system

hi ,can anyone tell me if they have managed to get a single/double entry visa within the last week ,if so where did u apply ,did u use an agent ,what was his name and contact detail.................i was going to use an agent in pp next week but he emailed me last week to tell me that double and single entry visas in pp are now very difficult to get and advised me that he couldnt help...............seems that they are making tourist visas difficult now aswell !!!!!

i have lived in thai for 6 years now and for the most part been very happy here but now i find myself getting pretty p............d off with all these visa changes ..........its pretty obvious that the thais dont want anyone living here long term apart from thais but now they are even making it harder for tourists to get tourist visas ...........maybe all us farangs should just move to somewhere else in asia where they want us and just leave the thais to it !!!!..............

the taxi situation in phuket is one of the main reasons i dont go there anymore ,they may as well "own " the island .........the best thing tourists can do is stay away completely ,phuket is way over developed anyway ,better to go to one of the other beautiful islands (of which there are many ) and just let the taxi drivers lay around all day ,which is what they mostly do anyway because they are way too expensive !!!!!!

hi ,i was in yangon 4 weeks ago ,i travelled from pattaya and applied in person for the 30 day visa at the burmese embassy in sathorn (SURASAK STATION)...........i gave the application form,passport and photos to the officer about 9.30am and was told to return between 3.30 and 4.30 pm that same day .........this one day servise costs a little extra ,if u are happy to return to the embassy after 2/3 days and collect yr passport the fee is approx 800bht ,one day service is 1200bht but worth extra for me as i wanted to return to pattaya that same day .........i was a little surprised how many questions i was asked when i gave the application form but in the end no problem .<BR><BR>dollars need to be clean and unfolded..........i met a couple guys in the street that told me they wanted to exchange thai bht instead of dollars although they are happy with dollars ...........the dollar is very weak now in yangon ,not long ago 1200 to one dollar now approx 800 to one dollar ,many places only offering 750 to the dollar <BR><BR>have fun ..............gaz

I got my double entry Tourist Visa yesterday. Since I've heard that regular people can't get the rush service I went through an agent. I found one who was inside a shop and not one of the guys on the street (seems more legit to me). One-day service - they took it in the morning and I got it at 19:30. The cost was $88; $70 for the visa and the rest for the rush one-day service and agent commission. I had to give them a copy of my out-going flight ticket so they could show the embassy in order to have the visa rushed. I thought it was odd that I didn't have to fill out a visa application or sign anything though.

The agent was really nice and helpful and spoke great English. His place is located along the Sisowath Quay 1 between streets 136 and 144. If anyone wants the name and contact info just PM me.

It was a great deal because instead of going to the embassy, waiting and dealing with them myself I got to tour around the city - Killing Fields, Genocide prison museum, National Museum, Royal Palace, etc.. Definitely worth the extra $18 IMO.
