It is in the end you final decision but sounds for me as a very drastic step. So when you work in another country for a more decent salary you can't travel and discover Asia and other countries. No chance for adventure?

"Only" when you move physically to the country you want to discover and thereby accept a salary that a work in a german discounter gets monthly (no experience) is the way to achieve your dreams?

Are you not interested to build up some funds to enable you for an early retire and then completely expatriate to the country of your choice and start your discover without worries?

I mean 50K a month is valid if you want to discover low-budget but nothing more.

You might be a perfect example for a person that does not care about money but still sounds all strange for me.

Anyway as i said in the beginning, up to you.

    Cheers,

  2. Then go online and update first the signatures of your AV software and then bring your Microsoft patches up to date. Even with SP3 you will still require some updates.

Close to 100 updates... So yes, keeping your system up-to-date is of the utmost importance.

In regards to your infection be careful with external media such as thumb drives etc.. If you do not know the source of the infection you might wanna pay attention to this fact.

You can eliminate those threats by disabling Autorun, which is a commonly used attack vector for malware.

    @Supernova,

Yes, disabling autorun is an important step.

    @banK

Have a look here: Disable Autorun

  3. I completely understand you. Our son (thai/german citizenship) is called as of his white skin as well a lot of times farang. I have never understood this phrase as a lot of countries name a foreigner as of his citizenship origin e.g German, Swedish, Norwegian etc..

I wouldn't go that far to call it racism. For me as a german the Thai pride is sometimes anyway questionable as they have tendencies which we (germany) had in the years of our black past as well.

Do i as a german have a common special name for people from Asia? No i don't.

I got mad in the past and had a long chat with my girlfriend about this. When i visited her family the phrase farang was nearly in every second sentence and it was more as obvious that on top of it i was the main point of discussion.

I told her to explain that i have first of all a name that i can be called by and secondly that people from there country where i was born are named as Germans in the english language. This behaviour make me question a lot of times the so "famous" thai hospitality.

The experiences that i have made are more in a way that Thailand's citizen very often hide themselve behind a smile and that they feel for whatever reason superior to others.

I prefer a straight word of disrespect from a person as i frist of all can face the truth and on the other i immediately know where i stay in the opinion of my counter-part.

In discussions with my girfriend i asked her a lot of times if Thailand is so superior and everything is so beautiful there why her country is still far far behind all the other nations which they admire (copy) so much. Of course an answer is still open.

Anyway, i do not judge and evaluate a person through their nationality.

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  4. Hi banK

The installation of Service Pack 3 should work without any problems. The"easiest" way is to go to an Inernet shop and download it there onto a thumb drive.

Once your computer has the new installation of the operating system install the Service pack 3. If you have an installation CD of your Antivirus software as well then do the installation after Service Pack 3.

Then go online and update first the signatures of your AV software and then bring your Microsoft patches up to date. Even with SP3 you will still require some updates.

In regards to your infection be careful with external media such as thumb drives etc.. If you do not know the source of the infection you might wanna pay attention to this fact.

Just to be on the safe side i would suggest that you change all important passwords such as online banking, forums anything where you think sensitive informaton from you is stored. You don't know if some of that has been in the infection period already extracted from your PC.

Wish you good luck and heads up.

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  5. @banK

What i meant was that if you go to the ACER Driver support page ACER for your laptop there are only XP and VISTA driver listed.

It can happen that if you install Windows 7 on your laptop that several devices such as your network card, graphic card, sound will not work as of unavailability of a suitable driver.

Sometimes the VISTA driver, which are availabe, do that job but it can't guaranteed.

Just want to prevent that you waste money to buy Windows 7 to find out that nothing is working afterwards.

A fresh install of XP or VISTA will do it as well. If you still have the XP CD just use this one, the virus should be gone afterwards.

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  6. @banK

I guess Windows 7 might run on your ACER. You maybe encounter driver problems (some Vista drive can do the job) etc. and the performance might not be very well.

If you have the chance try to get a Windows 7 from a friend and play with it to see if it suits your demands.

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  7. Sorry, have seen this just now!

Your subtopic is Gen:Heur.Krypt.69. I assume this is the virus you get reported. It is a trojan!!!! A bad one!!!!!

Different AV vendors detect him different. See my attached file again.

It is a variant of Win32/Kryptik.BSG and has the characteristic to re-create himself when deletion attempt is made. You got a really nasty one! It has around 850 variants and was in 2009 in the top list of infections.

    Try to remove as followed:

To remove Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT, you must first stop any Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT processes that are running in your computer'ds memory. To stop all Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT processes, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Task Manager. Click on the "Processes" tab, search for Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT, then right-click it and select "End Process" key.

To delete Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT registry keys, open the Windows Registry Editor by clicking on the Windows "Start" button and selecting "Run." Type "regedit" into the box and click "OK." Once the Registry Editor is open, search for the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT." Right-click this registry key and select "Delete."

Finally, to completely get rid of Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT, you must manually remove other Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT files. These Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT files can be in the form of EXE, DLL, LSP, TOOLBAR, BROWSER HIJACK, and/or BROWSER PLUGIN. For example, Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT might create a file like

%PROGRAM_FILES%\Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT\Trojan.Win32.Generic!BT.exe. Locate and remove these files.

If you can afford to loose your data my advice would be reinstall your machine!!!!!

Be aware that it allows REMOTE ACCESS of your machine!!!! Do not go online with this computer anymore!

The severity of this malware is serious: Threat

As of the 850 variants it is a really really serious one and removal is not something for a person which has not a certain geek level.

    Please keep me updated!

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  8. Hi,

you can use Virus Total as a suggestion. It is free and has the advantage that the engine has multiple AV signatures from different vendors to check a file against. If you look at my attachment you will see an example result.

It would be helpful to know what virus gets reported by your AV application. Once you know this use google to find reports about it. The big vendors such as McAfee, Symantec, Sophos, Kaspersky will have removal instructions on their website.

You can gain as well more information about the characteristic of the virus and what harm you have to expect.

The fact that the virus got detected is a good sign. It means the virus is known as all AV vendors can only trigger malware where a signature exists. If your AV product, Bit Defender report a failure to clean no reason to freak out.

It usually still quarantines the file and just has problems to delete it. It can of course as well not deleted if the infection source e.g. a CD/DVD-ROM. USB-Drive is not longer available.

Before you are not sure if your host (PC, laptop) is virus free stay away from online banking and any kind of other activity where there is the chance that somebody steals your password. You might have a keylogger etc..

Make sure you have the latest patch level for your PC, Microsoft patches and others. If your PC indicates XP SP2 you know already that you not up to date, this SP is out of service support and you need to manually update to SP3 first.

Sounds all complicated and it actually can be.

Be aware as well that if you have a rootkit that a regular new installation of the OS (Operating system) in worst scenario won't solve your problem!

If you catched a nasty one and you can accept data loss google for free DISK WIPE programs. The HDD (your harddisk) need to be overwritten several times with 0 and 1. Government standard starts at 7 - 9 times. But that is really a worst case scenario.

If you have any further questions feel free to ask.

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

P.S.: If you need further assistance i will help if i can. Be aware of the caveat that remote troubleshooting isn't easy. The link i have posted is good, so don't worry to catch something there. I earn my bread with things like this, i not mean to troubleshoot but IT-Security.

  9. Heyho!

Thanks for your reply. I know the truth about South Africa from friends who have family there and no one of those who say "ooooh - this country is so dangerous". So working there would be an option. But you're right - they want you have been living together for five years (http://www.globalvis...ousal_visa.html) which I may not offer. Just now we will start living togetherso to any of those requirements I unfortunately would have to reply "live together 0 days, weeks, years...". If it helps in any way: Our relationship is close and long enough that both could answer a lot of question about each other but to proof plain facts like above is not possible :(

    Regards,

    Dennis

    @Cruz

Don't really get the message? What is the problem to maintain your relationship while you are in germany? And what do you mean with the statement "i would have to reply 0 days, weeks, month....". I assume you spend at least some holiday time together.

Seriously, with your education seeking in a country such as Thailand for a decent job? Sounds kinda weird for me. Don't get me wrong but i assume in germany you have much more better chances. And if your girfriend has a good education, job etc. a tourist visa is still a valid and available option.

If you felt in love with a bar girl, man then start to be prepared for the unexpected.

I am just curious so please not take my post offensive.

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  10. Hi,

as the previous poster said Dr. Greechart from Yanhee has a good reputation. So does Dr. Amorn Poomee from Bumrungrad Hospital. But he does have a quite long waiting list sometimes, can be up to 6 month.

You can find a lot of doctors but of course you have to feel comfortable with him as well. Take your time to talk with them and discuss.

There are a lot of agencies as well which will do arrangements for you if needed, Google is there a great helper.

Don't forget the risks and complications which can happen. It is a huge step and sometimes one step too much just to satisfy optical whishes of a loved one. Not meaning that this is the only reason why you want to have an augmentation done.

    Good luck

    Morpheus Dr. Amorn Poomee

  11. Hello everybody,

this is just a little tiny report about our last trip to Koh Mak. Not something ready to be posted in a high class travel magazine just some experiences from a Thai tourist and his little family.

    - Period of stay: 7 Jan 2011 till 12 Jan 2011, Re-visit 20 Jan till 27 Jan 2011

As we have an apartment in Bangkok travel arrangements where quite easy. We booked a bus ticket from Ekamai to Laem Ngob for around 300 baht s.th. As we did not had much luggage we used our BTS card to go from Phrom Pong to Ekamai BTS.

The bus we booked left around 07:00 in the morning and the ride was smooth and comfortable. As a place to stay we booked in advance the Koh Mak Holiday Beach Resort.

The Laem Ngob pier is a very small pier. We booked the tickets for the boat via telephone. The number we found on this website is valid Koh Mak Speed Boat . The company was Lelawadee Speedboat. Of course their are other options for a cheaper commitment as well possible. I had a backpack but we have chosen the "upscale" variant.

The prices mentioned are is what you get and our 3 year old son had a free-ride. The boat need around 45 minutes and i have noticed that this time can be sometimes up to 1 hour as it stops at small islands on the way as well.

We arrived at the Makathanee Pier which is as well directly attached to the Makathanee Resort.

The owner of the Holiday Beach Resort was already waiting for us and a 2 minute ride from the pier was enough to reach our final destination. The Holiday Beach Resort is a very nice, small cozy Bungalow place. The bungalows range from 300 Baht (fan) up to 1,500 Baht (bigger, aircon). Prices are dependant on season as usual. At our first visit we had a big bungalow. Nothing really fancy but quite ok for the price. I have seen other bungalows there as well.

The beach is beautiful and really quiet so is the whole island. A person who seeks for big waves, entertainment, party is definetly wrong on Koh Mak. It is pure relaxing. For my 3 year old son who can barely swim it was just perfect and tears at the end of our visit were the result followed by "Papa, papa i want stay talay".

The "problem" and it is one are the sandflies.

Koh Mak seem to be a preferred place for them and they are nasty!!!! I knew them from my military time and there is not much you can do. A few people believe in Coconut oil some prefer a strong chemical hammer with a high rate of HEEDTA.

You can't see them, you can't feel when they bite but after it gets really bad. The itching is horrible and the the injection point looks ugly. At all costs you have to stop scratching as they can transmit some serious diseases.

My girlfriend (thai) and i (german) where hit in the same amount. Only my son (thai/german) who had a lot of Nivea (no advert) sun lotion on his body was completely free of them. Even he played hours in the sand.

Koh Mak has a lot of places to eat and the taste of everybody can be satisfied. We went a few times to the BBQ (daily) at the Makathanee resort and we like it. You can choose from Seafood, Beef kebap, Chicken, Pork and fish nearly everything. All is fresh and tasty. The BBQ includes a free salad were susprisingly reasonable compared to rip-off places such as Samui and Phuket. At the BBQ you can have as well dishes from the regular menue which covers western food as well. There are a lot of scandinavians on this country and Koh Mak is definetly a family island.

There is a fire show at the end of each BBQ which is quite nice to watch.

You can rent Scooters of all types everywhere. Different prices though usually not more than 300 Baht per day as a high, this usually includes refill of gas. Travel with a local makes things easier and we found without a problem a restaurant where the owner rented "of course" as well. Price 150 Baht per day, excluded gas.

We changed lunch and dinner many times but normally ended up in a small Isaan place on the main road, close to a german diner which i laways reject to attend as i am german by nationality but not in all instances.

They served a nice BBQ chicken for a normal price.

The island itself is small. A motorbike is a plus to discover but you can discover it as well via bicycle or even walking. Dependent on the physical fitness.

Koh Mak has a few upscale resorts but to be honest...no i don't need it on an island like this. I have stayed in 5* resorts in Thailand as well even those ones where you will pay around 20,000 baht and up for accomodation.

The bungalow has NO fridge. So fresh and cool drinks during the nite..no.

Most of the places close at 21:30 latest.

There is a small bar, disco, the only one actually called the Monkey Bar. Hippie flavor, young backpackers and a Thai/Farang Ganja Band play their songs their 7 days a week. It is nice to go there and a funny place for sure. You can dance in the sand and listen to nice Thai reggae vibes and some international songs. I think that place close late, never stayed until the end. We left latest around 01:30 in the morning.

For the internet junkies more and more places offer this service, so did our resort in form of a small computer for everybody. WiFi was possible as well. They charge quite high for this of course 15min/20Baht. I have a company Blackberry so i didn't needed this service. it is just mentioned for others who have the requirement.

There are no ATM on Koh Mak so cash makes the world go round. You could pay though at least at the majority of the resort with Credit Card (Master/VISA) and it was as well possible to receive cash with the credit card, for a small fee of course.

They offer Elephant rides as well now on Koh Mak in case somebody needs Chang experience and not in liquid manifestation.

There are no jet-ski rentals (YES!) and no banana boats (YES!. No para-sailing and all the other inventions of modern society.

Koh Mak is also a big Scuba Diver island and shops are all over the place, PADI licenses dependant of length of stay can me aquired as well.

We really love our stay, apart from the sandflies, and came short after back for a second visit. Got cheaper price as well from the owner. 200 Baht per day for a bungalow.

I really love this island and of course this peace will be not forever. I can see clearly the upcoming bar beers, discos etc. and it is sad to see that this will most likely happen to this small paradise. And don't understand wrong i like Gogo's too but not at every place please.

Koh Mak seems to be tolerant for pot smokers. Banners that it is illegal but actually local arrangement with the police are made.

Koh Mak has just a small clinic and the doctor is as well i guess owner of a gas station attached to the clinic, lol.

Power on Koh Mak is now 24/7 but still running through a small generator station in the center of the island. The local grocery store offer the majority of the items, a little bit more expensive of course as on the main land.

I will attach a few pictures but please excuse the quality. They have been made with a mobile phone. They are not bad but for sure not meeting standards of a pro-shooter.

If there are more questions and if i can answer them, yes come on and i will answer.

    Cheers, Morpheus

  12. Of course that man is a complete idiot but i agree with some posts before as well.

Thailand is of course well know for it's animal welfare i guess it comes in the same line as human rights, freedom of speech and government without corruption and a society which is immune to selfish acts.

Apart from the fact that this dude is a perfect example for a german stereotype and guilty for jokes about him and prejudices. I am so sure that the well established thai law will take care of this.

Sometimes when i read some posts i have the impression that a few people seem to live too long in Thailand as reality seems lost.

Kids are working in this country in Red light districts selling flowers in a mafia environment, parents sell their kids to filthy paedophiles from all nations and of course in full consens with buddhism but the real thing of course is a 73 year old retard who has killed a dog which might have end up as beef in a soup with moaning aroi sounds from the owner.

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  13. @aussiebebe

 There is not much to respond to what you have written. It is more than valid. Honestly i am just a little bit scared that the relationship might not work in the same good way.

I personally can feel nearly every where home but i doubt that this is a capability which isn't inherited in a lot of thai people. As you can imagine i have already problems with the fact that i can't daily share my life with both of them. This is just the emotional factor and the development of my son even comes on top of that.

I think i will have to sort that out sooner or later with my girlfriend. If a relationship is strong it shouldn't be a problem. In theory.

    Thx to share your thoughts!

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  14. Clearly option 2 is the best one (if you can afford it).

Keep in mind though that they are VERY selective, your child will be THOROUGHLY tested and observed and any inclination that the child will need any special services, has any behavior issues, or just isn't smart enough to keep up, the child will be rejected. They will have no qualms about telling you this.

That particular school as well as a small handfull of others do not need your enrollment in any shape or form. The waiting list for Thais is 10 years.

That being said, if you can get in that is the one to go for.

The rigorous testing will involve seeing if your check clears at the bank ;)

    LOL @Som Tum Tiger

yeah, was sure that this is one of their tests. I have seen the diplomats schools in Bruessels and there are as well kids which might be not mental flexible enough still doing their classes there. Would suprise me if in a country like Thailand money isn't able to open doors.

As said, just because it is expensive and Jackie Chan or Oliver Stone drops my to receive their pay checks after some speech in the auditorium doesn't make it a good school. Yes they have a lot of facilities gym, sport fields etc.. But i prefer to go to th beach with my son anyway.

I will see what comes and keep you updated.

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  15. It was a general statement in terms of that an HIV infected person still can have sex. Protected of course as with knowledge anything else would be attempted murder as Wallaby stated correctly.

Don't forget that there are as well a few people out there who carry HIV and have not received it from unprotected sex. Some of them might be married and if with a supportive wife they might even have sexual intercourse.

What i wrote was not pointing towards a coward that knows he is infected and try to let other innocent people participate in his infection without telling them. I do not have any kind of respect and understanding for those people.

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  16. As you not have seen this letter i would be careful. Even if you know your friend for a long time, in such a case i wouldn't burn my fingers.

If you know that person just pass the information to him. Responsible enough. The fact that he barfine girls does not mean he have sexual intercourse with them unrotected.

An HIV infected person has the same right to have sexual intercourse as anybody. Of course with the HIV infection a lot more responsibility comes with that as well.

Taking morale responsibility the least you could do as i said is to informe the infected person. He might not know yet. Everything else i wouldn't see in my responsibility.

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  17. @richardr

Hello, i assume those rates are for Thai citizens right? Actually can't be anyhting else because they are very very low.

Yes those are they rates he's paying his Thai software developers. That's why I'm asking around as I don't want to base my assumptions on one opinion. I'm looking for developers with skills in Microsoft .NET and C#, business software, not games. Looking on the BOI website, they state a software developer with 2-3 years experience can earn between 28,000 - 35,000 baht. Would this seem about right?

    Thanks

    Rich

I guess you are quite good with that. I am sure a lot of the expats here can say more about it. For sure a lot maybe work in nerd/geek sector or at least have experiences about local salaries.

Wish you look to get a good one and for future business.

Man, just had a look at the BOI site, glad i work IT in Europe

Hello, i assume those rates are for Thai citizens right? Actually can't be anyhting else because they are very very low.

It depends of course on what entry skills you require and many other things. So hard to make a global statement on this. If you get a sowtware developer for those rates i guess you very lucky. Good developers are earning everywhere good money usually even if the other salary rates in the country are low. Depends as i said on a lot of factors which i do not know.

    Good luck.

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  19. As they are my favorite choice as well i bring them usually from home. They sell them in boxes max of 8 in germany. I buy usually once a year 5 of them and bring them to Thailand.

Never seen Fusion product line in any stores,.

    Morpheus

  20. Both parents must sign paperwork to obtain a Thai passport so suspect the Embassy trip is just to provide that signature paperwork and perhaps the Irish Consulate could perform such service.

I'm not sure how it is when the parents are not married. We also don't know if this Irishman, if not married to the child's mother, is named on the birth certificate as having reported the birth. Would this make a difference?

As said earlier in our case i was 0% envolved to obtain the Thai passport for my son. And actually why should i technically. Our situation were as followed:

    - Son born in Thailand, Bangkok Pattaya International hospital

    - Thai birth certificate all arrange through the hospital, i received a german and english translation of the doument autmatically, cost for a C-section delivery 3 days hosiptal 31,000 Baht, all arranged via my girlffriend (date 15/12/07)

    - In the thai birth certificate my name as the father and my passport number was mentioned

    - My girfriend arranged alone his thai passport when he was 2 years old, now he is 3

    - I signed a so called "Vaterschaftsanerkennung" at the german embassy to accept the fatherhood. The mother has to agree in that. It is a full mother driven process as we both not married

    - Girlfriend asked and signed name change request at german embassy. The german government do not care what is mention in the tai passport or the birth certificate. For the formal process both mother and father had to show up at the embassy

    - Once all this has signed by both father and mother the german passport could be requested, my son had to be present for the request even if no biometric data was required. The passport request for the german passport was only signed by my girlfriend

    - After 3 weeks she could pick up the passport at the german embassy

Recently the rule in germany has changed and he has german citizenship for life-time. Only if he would decide to join as a career soldier Thai forces he would have to give his passport and therby german citizenship away

    Cheers,

    Morpheus

  21. @tonititan

Yes i am aware of the distance caveat for Moo Baan Perfect and NIST. As said decisions are not made. I will be in TH in June again. First have to get divorced from my current german wife. LOL, had not time to finalize this since 3 years and we still share our marriage bank account.

First priority is to find a nice place for a reasonable price. The situation that i seem my son rareky does not help at all to put im in a full time education system, just miss him like hell.

I just skipped Belgium as an option for now as i am not ready for the to be expected home-sick of my girlfriend once she is extracted from her home country. Plus i have a work life which is completely messed up in terms of working hours. 16 hours is the average.

I will see what future brings for us. The money to buy Som Tam will be always there so i guess i have less to worry about :whistling:

    Cheers,

    Morpheus
