  2. Sorry for taking so long in getting back and thanking all the members that have replied.

I emailed the British Embassy with the same question as in my opening post

    This is the reply:-

Thank you for your enquiry of 03/10/2020 20:51 .
    Congratulations on your forthcoming marriage.

For information on local marriage laws, including documentary requirements, you should seek advice from the local authorities in the country where you intend to marry.

British nationals are sometimes required to provide documents issued by their Embassy or Consulate in order to be able to marry abroad.

For more information, visit the following pages on our GOV.UK website:

    www.gov.uk/marriage-abroad

By selecting the country in which you intend to marry, this simple tool takes you to the relevant page.

For some countries, such as the Commonwealth Countries, you will deal directly with the local authorities only, as we are not involved.

In these cases, follow the local authority’s guidance.

Should a local authority ask for documents we do not provide, remind them of this and ask them to suggest an alternative. An example is when asking for proof you are free to marry.

Alternatives can include swearing an oath with a local lawyer or, if you are resident in the United Kingdom (UK), approaching the UK General Register Office, (GRO) for a “no trace letter”.

So what i can make of that is...that if my local Amphur does not require an affirmation, i dont really need to do one...or am i missing something?
Thanks once again and i hope this topic can help someone else in the future.

    Cheers

    Have a Nice Day.

I have always used this method to transfer funds from the UK, even when I came here as a tourist. When I relocated here and used the same method to transfer my monthly funds, I kept a very close eye on my CC account and kept all receipts from Bangkok Bank, carefully calculating exchange rates received, interest charged and any hidden fees.

For the period of my observations (several months) I consistently got an exchange rate equal or better than what Bangkok Bank was offering, paid zero interest and zero bank charges.

    I'll take that bet.

I will Back you up on that Phil.......I used this method for about 8 years....

only stopped when needed to show international transfer

    There is absolutely no charge

Here is a conversion calculator for master card rate

    https://www.mastercard.us/en-us/personal/get-support/convert-currency.html

i still use this method occasionally when i need extra cash......i use the Yellow Bank

I don't know the custom of dropping your bags and/or pulling a towel on a chair comes from, but I'm from the US. If you leave you have left and have lost your place. Bring an umbrella or someone to stand in your place. In fact, dropping your bag to save your place, so you can go have breakfast, is rude in my opinion. I don't see Thais or other Asians doing this. If you are going there to circumvent normal Thai immigration extension requirements, I have no sympathy.

My son (in the US) who was probably 19 or 20 at the time had someone try to cut in a long line in front of him (Black Friday Sale) after waiting hours. The two guys (adults) tried to cut in line and said they couldn't speak English. My son who's 6'7" just lifted them out of line and told them to go. The entire crowd cheered.

Thais and other Asians leave their shoes in line

  5. this is my quote from a previous thread

For the past 8 years my pension provider has emailed my pension statement on my request.......this year they said that they could not do it anymore due to the DATA PROTECTION ACT. I'm just wondering if this is why the BE says that it is unable to full fill the requirement any longer for income...

    update.....

I did finally get the pension statement.....they posted it to my daughters UK address, she scanned it and emailed it to me.

The BE accepted it and sent me my income letter for immigration.

    PS....Ive just signed the petition

The wash and iron service by the local ladies is one of the best deals on the planet. Find one you like and say hello to her and get to know her name. The relationship you will create is priceless.

I did that......we have been now married for 8 wonderful years

  9. The best thing we did was to book 2 coach trips with National holidays

    http://www.nationalholidays.com/

one was 2 days in London, and the other 5 days in Scotland,

very cheap and no driving involved.

Accomadation on the tours was fairly good and the driver was always giving information

about various places we travelled through

The wife fell in love with Scotland and was happy to have a photo taken with a guy in a kilt

She was not impressed with the price of a take away Thai noodle in London..5 Quid.

    Have a Nice Day.

Next time take her to England, she'll probably enjoy it more.

When was London NOT in England......eeeeeee, i dunno some people.

  11. I know that folks have asked before, but, does anyone know where to buy a wet cut tile saw.

It’s not for me, but for my very good Viking friend in the village.

Online sites or telephone numbers of stores etc.. would be greatly appreciated.

Something similar to the picture below.

    Thanks in advance.
