For those people that can read Thai, I suggest they buy the Abbreviation Dictionary (ปทานุกรมอักษรย่อ) from any branch of Asia Books there's 400 odd pages of mainly interesting information for about B60.

Anyone agree with me that the soundtrack to Beautiful Boxer is an outstanding album, and that the film is pretty good too.

I am over 50: no Thai child (to the best of my knowledge)
Not averse to non imm O "A". Am currently living in Chonburi. Can I do this in Pattaya?

Sorry I'm sure that this must have been covered loads of times, but can't find answer. If you have a muli non imm o, stamped for 90 days, can this be extended by immigration without exiting the kingdom.

I intend to import a car permanently into the kingdom and would like to hear from anyone who has actually done this, especially concerning the declared CIF value. With respect I don't require advice from people who haven't.

I have an "O" visa, and I've been to Suan Plu twice to effect change of visa from O to O-A, but despite having a print out of the govermental rules for retirement visas (in English), they refuse to change the visa telling me that this has to be done outside of the kingdom.
I would be pleased to hear from readers whoo have suceeded in changing their visa in Thailand, or alternatively any one who knows of a government site with the regulations written in Thai, that I can peruse and put in front of the officer's nose.

It's a pretty simple procedure: just turn up at the station and tell them that you wish to load the bike on the train (although you need to be able to speak Thai or be with a Thai, and assuming there is sufficient space (there always is), they'll simply load it on, but will generally tell you to disembark at Samsen rather than Hualampong. The cost is pretty cheap: the last time I did this was from Surin and the charge was in the region of B800.
To get from BKK to Pattaya, your best bet is to find a driver with a pick-up and expect to pat B800-1000, including passengers.

The best way to find a non bar Thai girl in a suitable environment (ie tipsy) is to go to a Thai music bar, such as, (in Bangkok) Lung Kee Mao (drunkard Uncle) on Suk about 80, or the rock or isaan music "pubs" in Paternakan. There are always groups of 2 to 6 absolute darlings, who do not have much contact with farangs, and are really pleased when one cracks up a conversation with them (although it helps if you can speak Thai or at least a few words)
Notwithstanding the girls, it's a bloody good and cheap night out.

I have to import some personal effects (maybe a quarter of a 20 foot container) from UK (SE port) to Laem Chabang. Can any readers give advice if this is better arranged from Thailand or UK, and if so recommend any particular shippers.

Could someone explain me the advantage of a non immigrant O-A visa to the non immigrant multi entry O visa which I currently have. Ilive here pretty much permanently, going back England for vacations about 3 times per year.
