I was about to order the Automatic XLT today but after reading earlier posts about the 4-5 seconds delay with the automatic transmission I am reconsidering it. Any updates on that? Did Ford fix it?
I test drove the Ranger and the Mazda BT-50. Both manual. I noticed that at any speed and gear I was using, there was a 2 seconds delay when i was flooring it. I thought it was strange and tried it a few times. It was the same every time. Even at 60km/h in 3rd 4th gear there was a 2 sec delay.

thank you all for the good info.
is anyone in Chiang Mai using TOT Fiber 2U now and can report about the quality?
-
Is TOT Fiber 2U better than ADSL?
Is it faster? More reliable? Reacts better?
I am thinking of installing it in my house and would like to hear from people who are using it.
Thanks.

Guilt Culture vs Shame Culture
I have followed the details of this story as they have happened and i spoke to my Thai wife and a few Thai people about it.
In their own sweet way the severity of what happened and the understanding to find the answer does not sink in as i try to form a deeper understanding with them.
Also i feel the collectivist thinking does not allow them to proportion blame on somebody.
I feel for the family in New Zealand as Thailand deals with wrong doings in a strange way but its their way.
If you complain or debate something you are the one bringing the bad karma and its true they find it hard to admit blame becuase they do not like feeling bad.
RIP all those that died
I second t36ony comments. I had a similar experience.

With the restrictions on fluid bottles going into airplane cabin...
Will I have a problem buying duty free alcohol bottle in another country,
landing in BKK and flying to Chiang Mai after 4 hours?

How expansive is it to maintain an Audi A6 in Thailand?
Thinking of buying a used car. How much should I pay for something in reasonably good condition.Really depends on how much you want to pay......
Buy something that is not loved by Thais and you will get a good deal...
something like a 2005-6 Ford Laser fully loaded will cost between 300 - 400,000 baht
or small a Chey Aveo 2007 Auto 1.4 will cost around 350,000baht
Myself have Audi A6 very good prices as not liked by Thais
Pickup second hand then something like a Colorado a 2006 3.0 TD Auto will cost around 350,000 baht. the sister pickup the D-Max with the same spec but loved by Thais will cost another +150,000baht
In Manual then the Ford Ranger 2007-8 will cost 350,000 up.
A 15yr old base Toyota will cost the same price as a 15yr old Audi or Volvo fully loaded.
Here ALL cars over 7 years old must have a yearly test before you can get the new tax.

Me too... plus a friend.

A friend in Chiangmai needs a website.
It will be a small website, with only about 3-4 pages but has to be very attractive and graphically pretty.
Can you please recommend a web designer?

Even if you don't have the money now and you don't want to buy a house now. Go house shopping with your husband. Do all the leg work together. Even if you know all the answers, go to the bank together, to find out all the details about down payments and monthly payments. Then he will get a real grasp on where you stand. Talking about it and 'telling him' how it is may not be the best way. Better go do the leg work together.
The water maybe cold but there is no point to tiptoe around it.
There is nothing like experience...

Oh boy I feel for you.
Are you and your family considered much wealthier than his family?
This may be the source of all this...

I take it there would not be any problem doing a Mai Sai visa run on a Saturday or Sunday, right?
-
Thank you all for the great information.
-
Thank you for the reply.
How long does it take to do the whole trip?
What time should I take the bus out of Chiang Mai?
Should I also buy a return ticket from Mai Sai to Chiang Mai?
Should I buy the bus ticket a day before?
Anything I need to prepare when I get to Mai Sai? any other details I should know?
