I am contemplating buying the shipping container listed below to bring my 27 inch Retina iMac to Thailand (onboard the plane)…the price tags is a whopping $655.00 USD!!! Once the custom case is in Chiang Mai, then it will have fulfilled its usefulness to me and I would try to sell the case to recover some of the initial cost.
Just wondering if anyone else has successfully traveled with a 27 inch iMac to Thailand and how you solved this shipping problem. Thanks in advance for any useful insights.

Yingluck is hunkered down somewhere in London -- right now -- working on her "Political Asylum Papers." Stay tuned for the seemingly never ending saga of "Where's Waldo!" Only in this case it is "Where's Yingluck."

The need to "save face" runs deep with these ones ...

yes there is a pull up bar and a bunch of other fitness type devices/areas at CR beach
Strange ...seeing as Chiang Rai is no where near the ocean -- how does it manage to have a "beach"?

I'm surprised no one has waded into that mess with a cutting tool like wire cutters or a good bolt cutter -- that would get the necessary attention focused on the problem. Just saying ...

This (link/topic) is DEAD and leads no where. Someone needs to flag it or delete it or something.

Amazon Prime is my "go-to" website for just about anything, and as I just found out -- that includes "sex Toys! I just checked and sure enough, there is a whole sheet-load of toys for both men and women. No, I could not find any "tin can" items but plenty of "Ciber-Skin" products, lubricants, dildos and anal beads!!!

I was a little disappointed when I scrolled down looking for the pictures. Clearly I expected to see a scene like the one in the movie Alien where the Alien's dripping acid stuff melts a big hole thru the floor!

Never thought "two" people could qualify as a "gang". Looks to me like they are simply partners.

Got mine, just like the OP’s picture, from Amazon Prime. Still trim them with small scissors.

Yes, brianinbangkok, Mac Hard Drives can and do fail, just like any other PC’s, although the argument could be made that they fail less often. As for Chicog’s assertion that Mac’s essentially are for dim-witted individuals, well, thats his opinion and he is certainly entitled to an opinion, even if it is rooted in ignorance on his part.
There’s a reason Apple is ranked number one in the world (well above Microsoft…) the reason is quality and it’s not, “ … they're great for people who don't understand computers. “ as Chicog implies. That’s pure BS. I spent 25 years working for NASA using both Mac’s and high-end Dell PCs. Most of that time manipulating Photoshop images of the Solid Rocket Boosters for the Space Shuttle program. Even had a Dell at home to polish website code designs for myself. The PC’s tend to have many issues while the Mac’s just keeps on chugging along. I have 6 mac’s in my home right now — three that I use regularly and the rest are here just because I am too lazy to get rid of them. Funny thing is five for that six will still boot up even though three are so old they will not accept the current Intel based operating systems.

You can solve this problem with four simple steps:
(1) Buy a Macintosh computer.
(2) Salvage any files you can from the old computer (drag or save them to some external device like a flash drive.)
(3) Unplug the old computer and dump it in the recycle bin.
(4) Learn to use the Mac … it’s easy.
Live happily ever after…

Thanks for posting your selfie, JohnnyJazz. Seriously now, he does have a problem...If he flies home in that condition, most airlines today would charge him for two seats! Have a good day...

Tattoos are like bumper stickers — the main differences are bumper stickers on your car can be easily taken off. Having said that now lets think about something else… If you had a really good car, say a high-end BMW, or Rolls Royce, would you lower its value by slapping stupid bumper stickers all over its rear end? I think not. I, being the somewhat silent judgmental sort of person I admit to being, when I meet someone that sounds smart, looks and dresses smartly, then I realize they have a bunch of tattoos — sorry, but I instantly deduct 10 or 12 points from their perceived IQ. (Now let the haters rear their heads...)
So people who don't agree with you are "haters" ?
Minus 50 IQ point for you !
JohnnyJazz, I don't recall ever saying or implying anyone needs to agree with me. I was simply stating my thoughts on tattoos in general.

OK... in the middle of the night when the urge to defecate or take a whiz comes calling, what do they do?? Hose down the bricks?

If you visit just about any Mac forum, you will learn that MacKeeper is malware. You should uninstall it or better yet, NEVER install it. Pretty much a well presented SCAM.

OP Here: Thanks for everyone’s useful input to this thread.
— I have decided to go ahead and buy the incredibly expensive case shown in the video above (iMac 27 inch: Tenba Air Case, $654.95) even though I expect to use it only once to bring one of my iMac’s to Chiang Mai. I am not 100 percent confident it will survive being moved thru four, possibly five airports on its journey half way around the globe. Yes, I recognize such a shipping container may as well have a fluorescent stickers saying, “steal-me-now” but that is a risk I will have to take. I have until early September to change my mind in case I get cold feet and just go ahead and dispose of the iMac with e-Bay or CraigsList. Thanks again.

Two part question about Bangkok Bank individual personal account(s): If one opens an account with Bangkok Bank in NewYork USA and then later retires in Thailand —
— (1) Would you keep (be assigned) the same account number when opening an account in Thailand?
— (2) Is there any expected benefit(s) in moving money into a New York Bangkok Bank account as opposed to simply leaving the said funds in a credit union and then, once in Thailand, transferring the money from the credit union to your chosen Bangkok bank branch?
Thanks for any useful information.

Could someone please post a picture of one of the “so called” knee high balcony railings. I refuse to believe any builder would do such a thing. The picture provided seems to be from the roof.

Size Matters
I’m talking about the 27-inch Retina iMac and wishing I could find an easy way to ship mine to Chiang Mai when I make my next (and hopefully final trip) from the USA to begin my retirement. As a Photoshop user and graphic illustrator, I can’t imagine life without a large screen workstation. I also have an Apple MacBook Retina laptop. Getting it to CM is easy but bringing the iMac appears to be a more difficult task.
MY QUESTION IS: Do any of you Mac or PC users have any first-hand experience of bringing large desktop computers into Thailand? FedEX or UPS or some other method? My other options is to sell the iMac here and just bring the external hard drives and buy a new iMac when I get there. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. --Rich--
