  1. Did intend to use the sea crossing route across to Samui from the mainland instead of the plane, then I discovered the reviews on Trip Advisor researching the journey as the saying goes "worst things happen at sea" and apparently on the roads oh yes and also on the trains according to eye witness Trip advisors.

  2. Many thanks

I was driving around yesterday and noticed a lof of them red sphercial chinese type decorations hanging all the way across the street where the municipality building is located. They had lights inside them, you can't miss it if you see it as they go all along the street.

I believe this is where they will probably have some kind of celebration.

If you start off from the main police station and head up the road away from the beach you come to a big traffic light junction, continue straight on and it's on the left side of the road.

From memory this road has been closed at some times of the year, probably Songkran and maybe Chinese new year as well.

Consider this post just an idea of where it might be as I've never been mysely but I know they sometimes do official functions around that part of the city.

  3. Hi

I am looking to explore the long term rental possibilities in Hua Hin via letting agencies that people here use or could recommend, if you could post any positive info that would be great alternatively if you DM/Inbox any negative agencies so I can avoid them I'd be grateful.

    is 15000 - low season

    18000- High season realistic

Only need a modern and small 1 bedroom place

  4. Just an update for travelling to Hua Hin 2016 from Bangkok

By train single ticket 2nd A/C carriage 152 baht approximately 4.5 house duration quicker earlier express train also available

No current airplane from Bangkok to Hua Hin

    Taxi 2500 Baht one way

    Minivan 180 baht

Big Bus didn't manage to find any information on this hope this helps

  5. Cheers for that thumbsup.gif I'll have a wander around these

    The Hut Bar, Soi 80.

hahaha... The Hut Bar is like being attacked by zombie bar girls from The Walking Dead. smile.png

i don't know your age, because bars in Hua Hin the average age of men is 60-65. of course some younger.

My number one choice is the Hua Hin Bar on Soi 80 on the North side of the street. no pressure at all, very large beautiful outside area. UK, Aussie types. I am an American and I can't understand a word they say. smile.png

the Dragon Bar, on Soi 80 on the North side of the street. again, large outside area.

the bar in any major hotel like the Hilton along the beach if you bring your friends. tourists. expensive.

Pacific Bar Soi 94. Great food, great hamburgers, thai food, zero pressure, no bargirls. Quite.

Madam 94 Bar, Soi 94. The four girls will leave you alone if you don't talk to them. late afternoon start.

Nana Klein Bar, just off Soi 94 near Pacific Bar, German, Swiss, English, Sweden, Norway. Some nice girls to look at, but zero pressure for drinks. 49 baht beer on Thursday all day.

if you are a young person, try the bar complex around the Hilton. The nicer, larger and more hip the bars looks, the more expensive the drinks and no bargirls or lady drink pressure. always loud music everywhere. hard to talk.

sometimes bars are totally dead in hua hin, and there are only bargirls and bar owners to talk to.

  6. 7. Great! thumbsup.gif So the average for a taxi to Hua Hin from Bangkok is around 1800 baht down to the lowest price being around 1300 Baht.

  9. Cheers guys for the advice I understand there's been a few issues allegedly in Bangkok with tourists being stop checked etc (see photo) just thought I'd check Samui isn't experiencing the same sort of issues and that we'd be covered if it was.

No insurance anywhere will cover you against being searched by the authorities for drugs etc.

I suggest that if that is why you do not want to come here you do not.

Bit presumptious Harry. We wouldn't have an issue with being searched as we have nothing to hide, however if the frequency is a often and random (old people young people etc stopped) as being widely reported 2-3 stops per individual a day alledgedly in the major cities we could see it could somewhat taint our holiday experience of the Thai Islands, as we are (possibly) wrongly assuming the stops would be more frequent in the party areas of Koh Samui, Tao and Phangan.

Thanks for the warm welcome Harry guessing your not working for the ThaiTourist Authority

  10. Hi I'm considering a road trip on a motorcycle around Thailand.

Firstly I'll be travelling on main artery roads

So I need to know peoples opinions on the following

To rent or buy a bike? Are road bikes expensive to buy and can they be sold fairly easily after the trip. Is there a healthy big used market for big bikes.

Can I purchase (as a 2 month tourist) Motorcycle Insurance to cover me fully comprehensive i.e. medical cover aswell from a Legit well regarded Thai Insurance Brokers I'll need an airtight policy. Or should I arrange cover before leaving the UK.

Finally any suggestions or opinions from people that have (actually done this or ride big bikes regularly in Thailand) good or ad idea what level of hassles will I encounter.

Thanks in advance of any help
