An Electrician in Thailand is more like a Magician. Your never more than a milliamp away from being electocuted in Thailand....Perhaps a pair of rubber flip flops would have saved his life. Sad.
"rubber flip flops" as safety shoes.....
that's what they use on construction sites too so they must be good

Wearing a crash helmet?
Likely not and trying to make a dash for one of those notoriously dangerous uturns...fast lane to fast lane.

Didn't think I would say it, but for all it's failings you can still have an excellent time on Phuket and it is cheap and easy to get to unlike many other islands.

Maybe he should have wrote make sure you have insurance or a good insurance as you never know when you need it
well pretty much all insurance would cover this sort of medical expenses, so I am wondering wether he had any travel insurance at all?
Is that your personal experience?
I have certainly heard of many cases of insurances refusing to pay out when an expensive claim is made for various exclusions or reasons, reasons that are not evident when they were accepting the premium.
Small print rarely gets read too.
I am very pleased this poor guy got home.
it's not a question of experience, if it is a medical condition and the patient had no pre-existing medical conditions then most UK travel insurance would cover the medical bills. Of course there are exclusions like being drunk, taking undue risk etc etc... If his insurance refused to pay out I was interested in the reason/s, but it appears in any case that he had no insurance in which case he is lucky to have so many good and generous friends, he is also a little naive and stupid to travel in Asia without any cover

I got the impression there was a shift from staying on Sukhumvit to Old Bangkok.... especially families

why would Iran be anti American... baffles me?
America really needs to start looking within and perhaps approach it's diplomacy in a different manner.
If you feel uncomfortable i'm guessing Iran feel uncomfortable too with half your navy pointing missiles at them just off their coast...

My thai girlfriend has just returned to bangkok after a 6month stay on a uk tourist visa, it is her second tourist visa in 18 months, i wish to apply for her to return in June after 3 months back in thailand...
I know this isnt strictly sticking to the guidlines, but i wondered if anyone else has experience of multiple uk tourist visa's, or just any advice... all our other applications have gone smoothly and they have never even requested an interview with my girlfriend....
