I couldn’t find any info on this either. Do they have busses or vans at the airport that go to Mukdahan?

You can fly in to Ubon Ratchathani, take an airport bus or taxi to the main bus station (100 baht), then take a bus or van from Ubon to Mukdahan. The airport bus runs daily, but not in the evening. The buses and vans each run from Ubon to Mukdahan at least 4 times a day. You can take the van service from Ubon bus station to Mukdahan for 150 baht. It takes about 2 hours. I live 45km south of Mukdahan and have used that van service many times to go to the Ubon airport. For a 100 baht tip, the driver may take you to the bridge after all the Mukdahan passengers disembark at the Mukdahan bus station. I don't suggest taking a bunch of luggage for your trip. A carry-on bag is about all you'll have room for in the van.

  2. "as the embassy refuses to put dads address on his

    death certicate"

The Embassy of a other country cannot alter the death certificate. As stated by an earlier reply, proof of residence can be done via a yellow tabien ban or TM30 Certificate of Residence, however, that information would need to be presented to the Amphur, which is where the death certificate originated. I'm curious. Does the translated death certificate match the one in Thai language?

  3. The Pinnacle Lumpini is a fine suggestion. The breakfast is very good and the pool is clean, but small.  If you're able to walk a short distance, Jim's Lodge is directly behind the US Embassy. Convenient, clean,  and inexpensive. Just right for an overnight stay for an early Embassy appointment.

  4. It's funny how this topic just appeared as I got an email from USPS tracking. I was sent a registered letter from Maryland on the 10th of November. It just processed into Laksi Mail Center Thailand today. I suppose it will take another couple of days to find me out here in Yasothon.

  5. I live in Yasothon Province, but you may have the same good fortune as me. Recently, I needed an electrical box upgrade, so I went to the local PEA office and asked if they had a list of licensed electricians. Two of the PEA electricians came out and surveyed the job to make sure that it wouldn't interfere with any adjoining services. They then gave me the name and number of the person that they recommended to do the work. He was prompt, thorough and reliable. He also allowed my wife to haggle with him on the overall cost, which was very reasonable. As for building contractors, I have several that excel in different skills, so I deal with each one as needed. They are all local and their reputations are important to their business. They know that I will pay them promptly, so they tend to put my projects on their priority lists. Good luck.
